It is such an enjoyable to watch them dance! But I have to ask why every time they finished a dance Nino always seems to be unhappy? I can only read from his expression that he does not that enjoy his partner but to me she is so incredible.
Compared to every other couple competing they are one of the more likely to stay connected than to have open work for 30 secs of the dance. I can see however, where you might feel they dont have visualconnection however if you watch the choreography they spend alot of time in shadow positions or other positions that dont have them facing eachother. However times where they are facing eachother they are having visual connection. Also if you watch there other dances they are extremely connected.
You're right that they do seem to have some sort of awareness and the kind without looking is more difficult... but it isn't the sort of connection that tells a couple's meaningful story. I miss the part where it says something about them. I can characterize her, and him, but I don't have a sense of them as a unit, together. I just can't shake the feeling that he dances for himself, and that it really doesn't matter if it's Kristina or another woman on the floor with him.
Also, this is the intro too, I should keep that in mind :) They are great dancers, each in their own right. Nino just seems too crowd conscious in this moment, and that takes me out of their dancing when he keeps looking so intently at the audience.
277Jules was right on target. If Langella would at least "act" as if Moshenska was more than just a prop, they could be close to unbeatable. If I were able to dance with the vivacious Ms.Moshenska, I know where my eyes would be most of the time...and it wouldn't be on the crowd. '-\
I have a feeling that this is something that is opinion/style preference based rather than a fact and that we could differ on it indefinitely :) I did watch the choreo, closely. It seems as though he still takes more time to flirt with the audience than with his partner because there are many times when they could have a moment and then it just floats by. Often it seems that he looks at her but it's past her head at some other faces. The dancing isn't centered around the partner.
Their physical connection is not bad. After all it's a solo dance and Niño knew he's got it in the bag, so it makes sense that he spends a lot of time playing with the crowd. It just seems that Kristina is still harsh as. Her arm movement gives 100% in one go and lacks extension. And her body movement lacks centre feel. I feel she needs to offer more apart from strength and speed. On the contrary Nino is fully aware of his centre and produces powerful but fluid movement.
Just because they are not watching each other doesnt mean they are not dancing as a couple...they are aware of each other in almost every step, but i do agree that the eye contact between them is lacking ,and if they did 2 or 3 elements truly dancing for each other this would of been a truly wonderful performance...but then again being aware of your partner in parts when you dont look at him/her is for me a skill not so easily achieved ...
Quite the contrary, actually. What doesn't agree with you about my comment is that we esteem different qualities of Latin dance, so no need to be antagonistic.
It's supremely athletic - but you might as well not have any music there. There's a lot more to dance than complicated gymnastics and physical gyrations.
You can count on one hand the number of times there is any sort of visual connection, he is especially crowd conscious... and with the amount of time they spend dancing without a physical one either, it's pretty disappointing. I see two good dancers, not a couple.
Miss them. Dynamic pair. When they were at their best.
Nino Langella and Gabriele Goffredo are the best dancers in my live!
Nino Langella and Kristina Moshenskaya

So they broke up as partners the next year.

Perhaps in the future they will stay together and I'll enjoy watching them evolve stylistically!
