Love your tutorials! Such a long learning curve to see and understand all the nuances of this powerful photo editing software. Thank you for sharing your expertise 😊

Your tutorial videos are great, thank you. I noticed that when your pencil and fingers touch the screen, there is no annoying blue circle which i get every time. What is this circle and can i get rid of it? Also, is the GUI on the iPad different to the computer version? I don’t see the “File” next to the persona icon on my iPad. Thanks again for your tutorials, regards.

Thanks for sharing your skills. I have found this app to be quite confusing ( couldn’t even open an image). Your help has been useful.

After a certain amount of nodes, the software creats a new layer and then my selections aren't complete , coz half the selection is in one layer and next in other layer.
If anybody can give me a solution it would be great

A really very helpful video. It's too bad you don't do affinity photo tutorials anymore. Greetings from Germany.

Hi Andrew I'm trying to select a person with a difficult background. How would I use the pen tool to get a good selection of hair almost like the afro style you selected in your last video?

Why would you use this over the smart select tool? If the smart select tool doesn't capture edges perfectly, you can still brush it in the mask, which would be quicker, right?

Good question Vivek, I've found the smart select tool works amazing when people/subjects are on a white background but in other photos/pictures sometimes its just easier to use the pen tool... esp if it's for a 'professional/high end finish job' if you know what I mean :)

My biggest issue with brushing the mask is you’re more likely to potentially miss something being at like 98% opacity or 2% opacity. When I first started using a pen I also thought that might be a better way, but the pen tool is pretty easy to know exactly what’s going on.
The pen tool is good because you can adjust things across the entire selection edge to dial in things, and allows for very precise clean results. At the end of the day, you’re going around the whole edge with a large amount of detail.
One place the pen really helps is large sections that are simple enough that they can be covered by a single segment. It’s a lot quicker to dial in and precisely do those kinds of edges with the pen tool vs brushing. I also think that going back and adjusting things is much better in a lot of cases with the pen tool.

how do i stop it from making a curve layer? for me when i mask it just doesnt do anything?

    • @CreativeGoodman
      @CreativeGoodman  2 года назад

I think maybe you used the Pen tool on a new layer and not on the photo layer if you know what I mean. Make sure your on the photo/image layer before you select the pen tool and it should work well :)

Why does mine turn white when I'm doing the slection and half way it block the rest of the iron man, so I can't make a selection properly

Make sure the width of the pen tool is set to 0% and that the fill colour in the colour studio is set to empty (white with a blue line through it) that should sort it for you Zane :)

@Andrew Goodman for some reason I have to un click the fill button and it works. I saw it on one of the post on reddit. I did try what you suggested and still gave me the white stuff that fill automatically fill the area. Thank you and I love your videos.

Not on an iPad but sure is frustrating when I could do this in 40 seconds or less in Photoshop?

    • @CreativeGoodman

40 seconds using the Photoshop pen tool or select subject do you mean? :)

Well for years I have used Photoshop so it is not fair for me to compare with Affinity. In Photoshop I would draw a path around the object, hit “Make Selection” Boom no background!@@CreativeGoodman
