+ingenioustv : We have 4 of these camera's at the local radio and television station of my city where I volunteer at. They are used stand-alone but also in a multi-camera setup with a Blackmagic videomixer. In both situations (we use AVCHD because our editing suite can not read XAVC) we seem to be having trouble with something that suspiciously looks like line-skipping problematics. Sharp edges look pretty pixelated for some reason. The manual of these camera's leaves you in the dark whether the sensor output (when not in 4K mode) is being shrunk down by some neat edge-detection algorhithm or simply by reading 2 rows of pixels and skipping the next 4 or 6 pairs of 2 rows. Looking at the output (whether recorded on the SD card or what comes out of our videomixer) it seems to be doing the latter and it's pretty ugly. Have you seen this problem? You seem to be having the same problem but I don't want to jump to conclusions given the fact that when it's visible in this video the video is being zoomed in. The first video shot with one of these camera's at the station over here was recorded in XAVC and showed the same problem by the way.
Un saludo amigo necesito una información, tengo esta cámara pero no he logrado comprar el software para ampliar a 4 K podria informarme donde consigo la actualización gracias.
Very convincing and inspiring review. Sir, could you advice me which one I should choose between PXW-X70 and FDR-AX-100? I'd like to make documentary films with it. Thanks.
Please send me the original file from the camera 4k 100Mbit / s 25p or 30p 10-20s time. LONG GOP original camera. I need such a sample for the test. I will be grateful for your help.
Hi, which microphone ar you using? Did you use some kind of steadicam or the active-mode? The active-mode impresses me, but there's a quality reduction, isn't there?
Very sorry to bother , but I have a question I need to ask, I have watched your videos for the AX100 and the PXW-X70, I am at that point where I need to choose between those 2. But I having trouble making my mind, I know the PXW-X70 has better audio features, but that is not important to me, it does have the 4.2.2 10 bit vs the 4.2.0 8bit of the ax 100, that is a big deal, but finally the ax100 gives you 100 mbps at 4k, and the PXW-X70 only 50 mbps. So my question is, if you had to choose one, which one would you choose? (purpose of use basic documentary, outdoor fishing show, maybe some interviews) Thanks in advance Dan
Thank you for this beautiful and interesting video. I think that the Sony X70 is also a very good camera - beside the AX100. But something is not very well with the X70: In the XAVC-L HD -Mode the camera has a 4:8:8 - Format. By upgrading this camera to 4K -mode, the Format is only 4:8:0 -Format. In this "normal" mode you cannot manipulate the colors, croma etc. in a very wide area. ;(( Tip: The upgrade-price in 08/2017 on the market is round about 280,- Euro, instead of the official Sony-price at 498,- Euro. ;))

I love your review but should it not be 'complements' Dancers on the line?
I always wonder when someone is demonstrating a camcorder what camcorder is filming the demo ?

The camera shoots in 4K, yet your video is only in HD. Hard to see what it can do at it's highest rez.
