It’s the latest in the “hot shots golf” series - or at least that’s what they localized the series as until this most recent edition; they finally just gave it the translated title of what the series has always been called in Japan - Minna no Golf (or: Everybody’s Golf)

Absolutely obsessed with Mizuki yelling out random catchphrases that seem to have NOTHING to do with golf
He's a chuunibyo, which is a type of character with delusions of having powers and stuff. Gundam from Danganronpa 2 is a textbook example of this character type.
An odd choice for one of the two default characters, but whatever.

Hot Shots Golf was the American title for the Japanese titled Everybody’s Golf. It goes back to the PlayStation. So I have no idea what Arin was talking about. But this is a great series.
Same family tree as the old Mario Golf games too, though I have no idea if any of the devs are the same.

It's crazy that Mizuki is one of the default characters, and not a wacky unlockable character you get later on. They're doing line reads like it's for a shonen anime, not a delightful little golf game.

Pangya was a Korean fantasy golf MMO exclusively for PC that was so popular it received a single player wii adaptation that, in the west, was called Super Swing Golf. It also received a PSP title called 'Fantasy Golf Pangya', Everybody's Golf/Hot Shots Golf is a completely different franchise and not at all related.
The presence of the Black Rabbit of Inlé, ever looming in the distance, adds a crucial layer of conceptual depth to Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots, by reminding the golfers of their mortality, keeping them humble.

Dan's character having Adolescence Syndrome (Chūnibyō) made me cringelaugh.
Fun fact, mizuki is acting that way on purpose. Its a personality trait that children in school in Japan would act like because they thought it would make them cool. While often recieved the complete opposite. Its called chūnibyō.
The complete rejection of hitting the X button that shows above the target area of each shot- let alone going into the controls menu at 12:00 - while trying to figure out how to change perspective is frying my brain.
Despite playing video games for a living, these guys are NOT good at video games lol.

In Japan (and I *_believe_* Europe as well?🤔), this series is known as "Minna no Golf" (or "Everybody's Golf"). -The first couple installments were developed by Camelot-who also did "Mario Golf".-
(CORRECTION: Camelot only developed the original game, not the sequels.)

Arin is not correct about a lot of things.
Camelot had such a weird array of titles, but also dropped Golden Sun / GS: The Lost Age, and for that they're awesome.
@NygmaRam03 It's okay to be wrong but it's not okay to speak confidently about something you're not confident about. Arin almost always falls into the latter category.
Not “the first couple”. Only the very first one. After that they only did Mario Golf in terms of golf games.
In between Hot Shots Golf 1 & Mario Golf 64 the director of HSG1 Masashi Muramori quit Camelot to form the studio Clap Hanz, which would go on to develop HSG2 and every succeeding HSG game all the way up until this newest one, which was instead made by a studio called Hyde and published by Namco (licensed out to them from Sony, who owns the series).

To clarify Arin's attempted explanation: "Everybody's Golf" (called みんなのGOLFゴルフ ("Minna no Gorufu") in JPN) was originally known as "Hot Shots Golf" in North America right up until this game! It was published by Sony for most of its life, until this latest game, which was published by Bandai Namco, and while most of it was developed by the studio Clap Hanz, this one is made by a newer studio called Hyde (can't find a Wiki article on them)... while the _original_ was made by Camelot Software Planning, the people behind many Mario sports series' (Tennis, Golf), SEGA's "Shining" series, "Golden Sun", and WALUIGI!

Pangya was developed by Ntreev, also known as Super Swing Golf in the Wii release. Everybody's Golf is Bandai Namco, also known as Hot Shots. Arin has _approximate_ knowledge of many things.

I liked Pangya a lot. The power spin mechanic was so fun.
I love it when they start off an episode making dumb jokes and talking about how tired they are. That's the formula for a great show!
