  • CDC Central America worked with local leaders to decentralize HIV services to a local hospital in Quiché, Guatemala so that the Indigenous community did not have to travel as far to access high-quality HIV services. Since the clinic was established, no patients have missed their treatment, viral suppression has increased, and no one has died from HIV. Based on this experience in Quiché, CDC is working with the Guatemala Ministry of Health to decentralize services to more sites across the country.
