It’s a cultural thing and a form of respect. Mostly for those of African descent and churches predominantly Africans as you don’t call elders (someone older than you) or someone in a position of power by their first name. It’s not law it’s just a form of respect and honour. Children will call everyone aunties and uncles even though they are not blood related ( in African / black culture). That’s the beauty of our culture. Please don’t let this distract you from the content. Students call teachers at school ma’am or sir for the same reason 😊. - Blessings 🙏🏽
