Y Axis is a reflection on verticality-movement along the y-axis, symbolizing emotional depth and elevation. The piano serves as the harmonic foundation, playing a series of background chords that are sustained throughout the piece, creating a sense of constant upward motion that remain steady yet imply a sense of something evolving just beneath the surface. This grounding effect creates a framework for anticipation, as if preparing for an ascent into more complex emotions.
The string quartet assumes the primary role, with its melodies rising and falling, reflecting the inherent emotional journey that the y-axis represents.
