  • In this video, I accidentally rolled over a JD 1026 utility tractor on a steep ditch bank. Nothing was damaged and I didn't have a scratch, but the engine was now locked up. Also, we spray the field with a drone and watch the corn grow throughout the summer months.

First off, glad you are O.K. We have had more than our share of young farmers ( some Kids ) killed by rolling a tractor into the ditch. Secondly you did a great job of explaining a corn crop seed to finish. Best I have seen so far. The fact that you showed footage start to finish I think is what made it so easy to understand. Great job.

Spencer, if you continue to farm in the years to come, this will go down as one of several times you will dodge the bullet. All we can do is to operate our equipment as carefully as possible realizing that an accident can happen any time. Good to know that you have been blessed with walking away from this one.

Good video, Spencer. Glad you are okay. I rolled a JD3010 NF over in the grader ditch in June 1971. I was going to one of our other farms to hook up the rotary hoe and was traveling at road speed when it happened, and it happened fast. In the blink of an eye. A lot of pain and in shock. I was 13 years old. Back then we didn't have rollover protection. I suffered a broken leg, cracked ribs, and a ruptured spleen. I was in the hospital for 19 days. They said I was lucky to have survived. The medical bill was $1200 but the tractor repairs was almost $4000. Hard to believe that 19 days in the hospital and the surgery and everything was only $1200 when we look at what medical costs today.

You make REALLY good videos, Spencer! The way you think things through and then lay out the explanation/analysis covers all the bases with all the important information (how many acres they cover in one tank with the drone and their battery life and charging time are only a few great examples of your detail) I have to watch one soon of how you transformed the acreage......taken all together, you are really going at the challenge and mastering it! I see how much great experience you are gaining season by season!! You are becoming seasoned, by the fruits of your own efforts. It's the ideal way, imo. I'm glad you have experienced people you can draw on in your circle. That's very important to not try to reinvent the wheel each step of the way. That's a big part of the best parts of being a human being...our collective knowledge and our ability to communicate it. This enables each new generation to evolve, and to bring society as a whole to a new phase of development with it!
As far as tipping the small tractor, now you have a great story to tell from your beginnings, when you're wearing your cool hat from the '80s and you've become something of an old-timer yourself. But let's not rush it! You have years of youthful growth ahead of you! Thanks for letting us in on the process!

    Hi Spencer,
First of all, I am so glad that you survived the accident without injury. A few days ago I discovered Grant's channel and I became almost addicted because one of my biggest dreams is to one day start my own farm from 0. Grant said in a video that you have a channel too, and so suddenly the number of channels I'm addicted to is become 2.
I congratulate you both for the wonderful work you have done and pay my respects. But I have to admit, I liked your channel content more. Because the videos are like documentaries, they cover a long process from beginning to end.
I live in Turkey, and our fields here are mostly not very big (of course, there are huge fields of thousands of acres, and even the largest single piece of farmland in the world is in Turkey), and because of this, I have always been attentive to the American farms I watch on RUclips. But the work you have done has almost connected me to yourself. I watched all your videos in one sitting.
My grandfather is also a farmer and I have spent most of my time on the farm in the village since I was a child (unfortunately, except for the last few years ). I mean, I understand a little bit about agriculture, and the development of your corn has amazed me. I thought you'd get a much weaker corn because of the problems you've been having with the ground. I'm so happy for you.
Anyway, I guess I made it too long 😅 Greetings from Turkey, from the other side of the world.
(and also sorry for my english, I'm not a native... )

I might got some help from translate 😅 By the way, is the end of this video from a recent time? What is the condition of the corn now and how long do you have until harvest? In my city , Adana, the corn harvest is around the end of July, the beginning of August, I don't know exactly when your city's harvest season is.

That's why on the 4020 run with the loader a foot foot and a half off the ground with it above the hood like you had it raking 1 gopher or badger hole is all it takes for a top heavy machine to go over I have a 4020 that had a grinder mixer and chains on all winter it doesn't have a straight body panel on it my kids wouldn't listen and went up and down the hills with the loader so high they could see under it not over it and its been over more times than id like to admit at least it had 4 post OROPS and canopy and a seat belt ive rebuilt the OROPS so many times it now has limb risers and is built out of an old Cat D7G OROPS cut down to fit a Deere luckily the worst injury has been a torn rotator cuff and with that little tractor always wear your seat belt hold onto the bottom of the wheel if you feel trouble coming and never jump to safety if you can't get up fast enough and the ROPs don't work it can come on over another time and get you there's no better office view than from the seat of any vehicle on the farm don't mess thar up and make us see you injured in a hospital bed or hear worse from your ole lady family and or friends if you need any safety tricks or tips I can sure tell you what I did as a teenager that busted myself up that at 27 1 day I stepped off the dozer and I couldn't feel from mid back to my toes my "roommates" didn't know what to do they all left and found someone else to support them even my wife of 16 years dumped my 11 kids off at my parents and said I can't do this 3 days after waking from a 3 month coma and I was making money again against Dr advice I walked out and supervise for the most part but again disabiliy don't pat the bills i landscape run an old Amish sawmill bringing enough in nobody had to work she thought helping elderly that didn't want to go anywhere helping them stay away from the basement ķeeping an eye on me not then was a brilliant idea turns out not so much she was charged with felony neglect and abuse of the elderly and disabled she got 3 tears probation 10k fine and lost all her licenses even certified ass wiper (CNA)
