I love (愛) how the Japanese can make so much utility out of a tiny vehicle. I can't wait for this to turn 25 years old so it can be imported into the US. 我愛日本
Thank you for showing us global camping options. In North America, we are into excess providing the most revenue for the auto manufacturers. This makes the cost unattainable for most people who would want to camp. Leasing fees are a minimum of 7% over 96 months!!! Sad. Wish there was a version of these campers for the other continents.
Probably, you can. I think that the van shown in the video was a daihatsu. During 2015, I employed an agent, with offices in both england and Japan, and, as, as a result of doing so, I was able to import a vehicle, similar to what that camper van's base vehicle would probably look like. I imported a subaru sambar. As I was importing a vehicle less than 10 years old, I had to pay about £2000 extra. Importing a vehicle more than 10 years old would have been much cheaper. The rules may have changed more recently. My charges included having to pay for the speedo to be converted from km to miles, despite the fact that I'd have been happy to stick with km, back then, which is an opinion of mine which hasn't changed, since then. As it happens, I'm now living in Romania, so it would have been a better situation for me if I would have been allowed to stick with km. However, I've not been forced to switch back to miles, since re-registering in RO, and / so I haven't done so, as that would have cost me yet more money. I love driving a short, and small, forward control van. However, importing spare parts from Japan is expensive. Currently, I have, on order, front disc pads, front left caliper, 2 front brake discs and the totally unnecessary plastic cover for the centre part of any one of the wheels. The cost for these parts, including delivery, is around £650 / 845 USD / 3900 lei. Cuteness will continue to have it's own costs, related to import charges, unless the manufacturers will make Japanese vehicles available locally, thereby allowing people to avoid the extra costs and hassle which come with importing from Japan. Don't hold your breath, in regards to forward control vans becoming more easily available in the UK. The UK and the EU now prefer that vehicles should have crumple zones. Unfortunately, any driver, or front seat passenger, in one of these cute forward control vehicles, has their legs in the crumple zone, and is likely to lose them, in the event of a crash. Some years, ago, I was driving a suzuki supercarry, and was involved in a crash which wrote it off. At about 30 mph, I crashed into another car, which was barely dented. Thankfully, the damage to my van was all on the passenger's side, and I didn't have a passenger at that time. If I would have had a passenger at that time, they would probably have lost their legs, as the glovebox ended up rammed up against the seat, on the LHS. That experience didn't put me off of driving such vehicles, though. They're not only cute, they're also practical, easy to park, and they're fun to drive, and they make giving way, at junctions with limited visability, much easier. It's sad to see that the idea of anything being fun to drive has been binned off, especially as boring automatics and electric cars have become more popular, or at least talked about more, online.

Nice little campers, would like to own one but unfortunately they are not available for the US market. I am looking more for a small travel trailer to fill my needs. I have seen and looked at kei trucks that are imported into the US as used trucks. Where I live they would be great, economical transportation. Its great living in a small southern town, lol
In western standards too small but as former camper maker the Japanese ones are put together nicely professionally designed thumbs up believe it or not I drive an 1976 Argosy airstream modified to 30 feet aluminum body in British Columbia Canada. Cheers.
I like the Tentmushi (No. 6) very much. With the 72hp engine from the Toyota AygoX and the steering wheel on the left, it would also be ideal for Germany.
The Japanese are known for all the helpful items they put into their vehicles eg Toyota - so it appears this could hold true for their campers as well. From what I could see in most of them there were no toilets or showers. That could be a problem in some areas. Very nice units!
@@hubertaumeier4558 That’s good but over here it could be a problem as it’s getting more difficult to find washrooms as needed - especially as we get older & like to have our own personal units when we travel. However - their camper models are lovely and work well for them. Cheers!

I WOULD BUY ONE OF THESE BEFORE RENTING AN APPARTMENT AND USE THIS AS MY TRANSPORTATION MEANS ALSO. WOULD BE CHEAPER THEN RENTING AND ALSO MAKING PAYMENTS ON A CAR FOR TRANSPORTATION😊
Sorry, but it's gd fkn absurd we can't have anything like this in America. Here it'll be 5x larger, and 10x that cost. I love Japan. Spent a summer there in 1995. Should've stayed. US sucks it
As the campers get smaller, the prices get higher. lol. Nah but I don't know if these are fair prices for what you are getting. Defiantly cheaper than I excepted but I would have to see the thing in person to see how small it really is.
Are most of these mini-campers in actual production or, are they prototypes? These days, hundreds of used Toyota "High Ace" Campers are imported to the U.S. on a regular basis. The are right-sided driving, mostly in great shape, and being used largely along the U.S. West coast, where they are imported to. Can these be imported to the U.S. new?
I wish these were sold in the US. I would buy one in a heartbeat!
Exactly. When you shop for a camper in the US it seems like they all look the same…and have looked the same for the past five decades.

These are great to put in your backpack for when you get tired of walking.
