Happy anniversary to you both. I had 42 years with my wife before she died. My only regret was I became complacent, wished I told her every day that I loved her. So my advice is to tell each other that you still love each other. Before your next anniversary maybe you can drive your Aptera. I will be getting one of the first ones, and can't wait, am so ready to drive mine off the lot in Carlsbad. Should be around the second week of production... Driving every where 😊
Hey Ho "Christopher----" This writer understands your thoughts and emotions. He lost his wife just shy of 40 yrs of marriage. 23 years for us. Sat through it because I was getting everyone ready for school, and I had an earpiece listening. I have a Chevrolet Avalanche with 230,000 miles on it that would be replaced with an Aptera, but I have been looking now at getting a A Model Y as my first EV because that truck only gets 17mph on my 45 min commute. I have solar that produces enough to charge an electric car daily.
Sarah makes a valid point with regards to three hub motors; what WOULD happen if one hub motor quit? On the back, it MIGHT free wheel, or seize up. On the front, you might find yourself doing circles on the interstate at 75mph on a long weekend worth of traffic!
That is a frightening thought to consider. On an e-bike if the motor quits you just end up with a very heavy analog bicycle, but no idea on a hub motor for a car.
Happy Anniversary! I hung on until the end because you two are just fun to listen to. Like Jerry, I also got a used Model Y. There are some amazing deals out there, and I shouldn't lose too much money on the Model Y in a years time. My Cadillac ELR had some issues, and I really need the HOV lane because it saves me 1HR+ in my daily commute. I'm still hoping to get my Aptera in 2025, but there are no guarantees. I do understand people's frustrations in the delays, but considering that almost all of the new BEV automakers (who didn't get billions in investment) have gone out of business. I am happy that Aptera is still alive, adapting, and moving forward towards (limited) production next year.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! 🎉 It’s been 49years for us. Congratulations on the great new job Sarah! And glad to hear your real estate career doing well Chad. Did we watch the WHOLE video???? ABSOLUTELY! Beyond a shadow of doubt! We both LOVE you guys! You guys represent the BEST of the everyday man and woman, we love your thoughts whether random or thought out. We watch AOC ( we love Steve too), for his super deep dives into ANYTHING he tackles, but we Watch and LOVE you guys for your entertaining everyday man’s thoughts and humor, and positivity. As for Aptera taking to long,, well,, every EV startup has taken FAR longer ,and for an EV that’s just ho hum, same ole same ole. Be patient grasshoppers!! The longer it takes, the better and more refined it will be. My Model Y has exceeded my already high expectations of what driving and owning an EV is like, and has me anticipating an Aptera even MORE than before. For our tastes the Model Y is most times TOO big except in those rare moments when we need ALOT of space ( it has ALOT of it!) but, compared to Aptera , its efficiency is abysmal, but the two cars would compliment each other well. The model y is already saving me soooooo so much, but I’m calculating Aptera will be 3x cheaper, which is just INSANE to me. In fact, Aptera and Model Y should have less operating cost overall than just ONE ice vehicle! Crazy huh? We’re planning on going to the Aptera event in SF this Saturday afternoon, since we’re not far from there. We plan on shooting video, maybe even a livestream. Keep those videos coming guys!!
Congratulations on your 33rd ! I kept watching thinking when are we going to get either a forward view or a view of the faithful couple ! We bought our 1st & only EV on eBay in 2015 ! We weren't actually looking for an EV but rather for alt fuel vehicles (ie: CNG) . Somehow I came across an auction for a 2012 iMEV that had less than 10k miles on it and the auction started at $7500 ! I found out these EVs cost over $30K new and my wife thought 'iMi' looked cute . I asked her & the Lord if it would be okay to bid on it and they both said it was okay !!! So we bid $7500 , someone bid $7600 , we bid $7700 and the auction ended ! We trailered our prize back from Dallas (5hrs from Tulsa where we live) and it became the perfect local commuter for my wife for many years after that . Lately I've been using it as a commuter as my wife works from home now and our other ride is a full size RAM P/U . Thanks for taking us along w/your ride to get out a while . :)
1. Happy Anniversary you two!! 2. Of course I watched the whole video, not only are you very interesting, but we could see where you had been... it was like time traveling, lol. 3. I think Aptera is waiting to hit the more mainstream media for three reasons: (in no particular order) -- Cost (wait for big funding to pay for it) -- They may want to have the more accurate representation vehicle, either the P.I. or actual production. -- They may want to complete testing so that the results will be known and can be used in marketing. Aptera knows what an attention get-er their vehicle is and want a level of readiness before the interest level goes through the roof. 4. My personal opinion as to the major reason why Aptera made the drivetrain switch? To reduce the amount of software they have to write before production. Three motors and inverters all have to be coordinated via software... this includes torque vectoring and traction control. Most of this goes away, or is greatly simplified when switching to one motor... a huge workload reduction. 5. We all hope that the Zaptera suit is an opportunistic situation that is quickly thrown out! 6. As far as the time Aptera is taking to production, I have to repeat what I've said before: Aptera as we know it today, started at the end of 2019 and we are now approaching the end of 2024, so it has been almost five years, that is all. Not to mention that the major COVID disruption happened within that time frame! I think Aptera's transparency and frequent updates give us all the feeling that we should see more progress, when it's actually happening very quickly! Name any other automotive manufacturer that has done so much in five years, I certainly cannot. Great update DTL!
I think your SPOT on personally. Once PIs are out on the streets across a wider area, interest is going to EXPLODE!! The world has never seen anything like this before.
Happy Anniversary! I also can’t wait for Andor. I didn’t know there was going on be a second season of One Piece. It was surprisingly good in season one. Congrats on the job!
Thanks as always for your great content! I am torn, I want my Aptera sooner than not as I get older. But I wanted the rear wheel drive for all it could offer.
Enjoyable video, thanks. Happy Anniversary!! I suspect that aptera will have the first PI assembled by the next update. Whether or not it is functional is another thing. PI 2 and 3 in the months to follow with PI 4, which will be very very close to what the production model will be, by January's update at latest which would be awesome. If not until February's update I will still be very happy provided that production starts soo after.
Happy 33rd Anniversary! Steve Lee's AOC channel is great -- each one is almost a Ted Talk. For Aptera fun, optimism, good information and opinions I value... I watch a different channel... I think it's called Drive The Lightning. I'm always with you to the end... not my end or your end... just the end of each video. 😎 So Sarah, what's the show you're waiting for? And, Sarah, congratulations on the school district job!

As the Mickey Mouse club sang in that famous song, "MIC, see you real soon, KEY, why, because we like you"... happy anniversary,! also was our 33rd as of April
Happy Anniversary! 33 years! BTW, I'm going to visit Aptera in SF this Saturday. If I get any footage are you interested? (I sat through the whole ride... you should clean beneath the rear wiper.)
Helen and I are going to be at SF event too. Come find us, I’ll be the one wearing a black Aptera ambassador hat, and a purple T shirt with an Aptera picture on the front. I think Dean will be there as well
I think a lot of folks are happy just to get an Aptera and hope for the in wheel motors in a future generation. Should be interesting to see how many keep their reservations.
I hope the best for Aptera. Was interested in it due to the efficient body design, solar, performance, and value. The value equation is gonna get worse, as is the performance (with lack of AWD), 2 big blankets to smother my excitement. I live economically off-grid (No sucking off the electric titties), and away from city. Regular electric cars are worthless to people who see the possible future of America. (Those who wont be rounded up like sheep in a city, who refuse to depend on government or on financial grid, electrcal grid which will NEVER support all these EVs). If you're a liberal Greenie, wake up and ask yourself where your electricity to power these things comes from, what about the slave labor and devastation to Earth to mine the minerals in batteries, what about the inevitable disposal of such batteries? As a solar vehicle with efficient design, Aptera solves some of these issues, but otherwise Electric is worthless unless you're a sheep on the grid, in the sheep pasture (city), financing your life away, and buying the lies the left is propagating. I'm glad that you're 'positively charged', but electric cars are NOT green, they're Not economical or viable yet for most normies. Hoping Aptera will change that, but if you have to finance it you are not qualified to speak about 'economy'. I Love your channel, except the pushing (non-Aptera) electric garbage. 😊
Happy Anniversary! I know what you mean about hesitating on early adoption of new technology. One point of view is most of the Aptera is using borrowed and proven technology with the exception of the direct solar charging of the vehicle. There are many other unknowns like their build quality and durability. Only time will tell on that, so I will let the rest of you get one first. I can say on my own early adoption, the only EVs I have are e-bikes. I bought early and now everyone has a better bicycle than me. Over this winter, I know I'm going to buy a new e-bike. The only uncertainty I have is, which one? I'm going to take a couple of months and watch as many reviews of the bikes that interest me most and go from there. What I would like to see regarding Aptera is direct competition. Too bad Elio was a scam, Solo was junk, and Arcimoto couldn't get the vehicle made in a profitable way.
We just got into e bikes in last few weeks, we researched heavily. My thoughts : go mid drive, and specialized and Trek are the two top brands. I got a Trek Rail 9.8 for 1/2 price, Helen got a specialized Turbo Como 4.0 35% off ( we never pay full price for anything;-)). E bikes are a game changer. At my advanced age of 72 , I never thought I’d get back to cycling the way that E bikes have allowed. The Rail has made gnarly mountain biking super easy and fun, and the specialized is more city/commuter bike that is super fun, nimble, fast, great fun, super user friendly. Our only problem now is : which one of our two cars to sell when Aptera is finally here ( hopefully H1 2025) since we’re early accelerators. I love the model y , Helen loves the Prius prime PHEV. Since I drive approximately 23,000 mile/year with my job, the model y has saved me about $900 in three months. The e bikes are relatively heavy, and we currently transport them on a very heavy duty trailer hitch rack on back of the model y which it handles very easily, and surprisingly with very little range loss. I don’t think the Prius could handle those two bikes, so the Prius might have to go, when Aptera comes because of that.
@@jerrymolnar8010 Outstanding! I have yet to talk to someone that says they are disappointed in their Model Y. Yes, e-bikes have some weight to them. I have two e-bikes and my wife has one. Two of them are RadMission with the small hub motor. They're fun, but compared to what everyone has now are the outdated ones. Obviously we still enjoy them and they get used on the weekends. My other one is a Bafang mid-drive kit where I used a mountain bike frame, welded in new rear dropouts, changed the wheels to 700c cast aluminum mags, hydraulic brakes, a new front fork, and Jones loop handlebars. I use those handlebars on all of my bicycles because they are easier on my wrists than any other handlebar. This made the bicycle capable of 19 to 26 miles-per-hour.

The most important advantage of the new drivetrain is reliability. Sandy Munro suggested this pathway, and I think it makes sense to start out with.
Agreed
Happy Anniversary! I listen to you guys for so long because your conversation is sensational. I deeply appreciate the shout out. And yeah, Steve is in A League of his own. Great quote Jeff
25kwh = 250 miles
40kwh = 400 miles
60kwh = 600 miles
100kwh =1000 miles
So,
1kwh = 10 miles
no matter what the battery size/weight.
Which can't be true.
I wonder which is the truest.
And what efficiency would the Aptera have with a 50 or 75 or 100 mile pack.
And how many miles the solar would add with a 50 mile pack.

Good point! We will need to see real life testing for sure.
Exactly! Carrying around more battery weight will definitely affect the KWh mileage. I always presumed the battery size would increase proportionally plus say 5% for the increased mileage versions. The 1,000 mile version is going to be a lot different from the 400 - in my opinion.

As the Mickey Mouse club sang in that famous song, "MIC, see you real soon, KEY, why, because we like you"... happy anniversary,! also was our 33rd as of April
The 33 club!
Chad, you are such a kidder. Let me know - I might have an excuse to come over to Detroit to help!
That would be AMAZING!!!
Happy Anniversary! 33 years! BTW, I'm going to visit Aptera in SF this Saturday. If I get any footage are you interested? (I sat through the whole ride... you should clean beneath the rear wiper.)
We would love any footage you want to share! Yes our car is dirty. 🏴☠️😞

Helen and I are going to be at SF event too. Come find us, I’ll be the one wearing a black Aptera ambassador hat, and a purple T shirt with an Aptera picture on the front. I think Dean will be there as well
@@jerrymolnar8010 what time did you get? I'll be there about 1:30 to whenever they tell me to go...

I think more depositors need to protest the dropping of elafe motors!
Elaphe Motors doesn't have the ability to provide the motors.
I think a lot of folks are happy just to get an Aptera and hope for the in wheel motors in a future generation. Should be interesting to see how many keep their reservations.
True
Thank you!! We love our EV. Can't imagine driving anything else but of course it's not for everyone. We appreciate you!
@@dtl Thank you for the kind and patient reply to my rather strong comment, and Happy Anniversary!
@@jeladsnikpoh1289 thank you! We love being married. And we appreciate comments that differ from our thoughts. That's how we learn. Keep em coming!
What's the show you're waiting for?
One piece - not the animated version.
@@dtlit wasn’t anything like I usually watch, but I loved it! Looking forward to next season too.
@@michaelmay9958 same here!!!! We stumbled upon it!
@@dtl Yeah, I like that series too, though the animated version has almost the same script.

Is it Season 2 of Severance?
Nope. One piece (not the animated version)
Why? Cuz we wuv you
Thank you "other" Chad!!!
I don't know why I watched this whole video. 😂
Hahahaha!!!!! Honesty is a beautiful thing!
@@dtl Goofiness is beautifuler!
Great points!!
