The snake is a jungle carpet python, native to Australia. A Russian idiom has the green serpent representing alcohol, and being bitten by the green serpent representing alcoholism. Tatiana has been sober for about 2 years, so this song is about her personal struggle. This is some of my favourite vocal melodic composition from Tati, & I love her extensive use of her *gorgeous* head voice to hit highs in this piece, a part of her vocal repertoire that we've heard very little of before now. The section with the combined guitar & bass tapping with great tom drum groove is incredible, & I love the Opethy outro. Even the stripped down, simple chuggy riffs in the last two heavy sections are a welcome addition, as Jinjer fans usually have to struggle to head bang to Jinjer's weird rhythms & unusual, shifting time signatures (which I also love, of course). This is a *great,* *beautiful* song, an instant Jinjer classic, IMO.
Jinjer makes me think of Pablo Picasso. Picasso is know for a very abstract and surreal style of painting but his works when he was younger was almost photo realistic. He could do both. Tatiana also can do both and she does so for the effect it has when conveying the meaning of the song. Life is both hard and beautiful. Tati and the band are great artists who paint this picture with there music.
Well, when you eventually get over Tatiana`s changes from angelic to demonic and back then you`ll be able to hear the complicated music which is the base and the wings on which Tati can fly to take you with her. First time hearing that song I was intrigued but not impressed enough. But with every re-hearing I understood more and more about the net of harmonies and the interweaving of the instruments, That composition is a masterpiece! You may perhaps not like that song but you can never get bored because there is so much to discover. I love that song!
I loved your reaction......the band is magnificent and Tatiana is from another planet, she is very talented......I would really like you to react to another song that represents what she is capable of, the song is "pit of consciousness live in Kiev".....Please, could you react to this song?
It's interesting to see Tati's voice slowly growing on you! I'd like to suggest the song called I Speak Astronomy from Jinjer. It's a little different but a really good track. Keep up the good content!
As people have already mentioned the Green Serpent is an Eastern European metaphor for alcoholism. Tatiana has posted about her sobriety as well as giving interviews about it. Good reaction. (Subbed)
4th single from the upcoming 5th album, Duel. Very much looking forward to the record dropping on Feb 7. Song has only been out about a month. So far it's #2 from the album for me, behind the first single "Someone's Daughter". The other 2 singles are "Rogue" (all harsh vocal), and "Kafka". When you come back to them, recommend "Someone's Daughter". And for Mrs. Coach, the 4tth album title track, "Wallflower" , has a few harsh vocals, but mostly clean.
I was supposed to see this band a few years ago, but the war in their home of the Ukraine ruined that. Now I'm finally making up for it, seeing them at a festival (of sorts) in a few weeks. Cooool! Rock on! 🤘😎👍
everyone in the band really did outdo themselves on this album. releases in Feb, but we have 4 singles already -- _Someone's Daughter_ has a similar-ish structure to this one (i think y'all might like that one) , while _Kafka_ and _Rogue_ are both full-frontal assaults. "green serpent" is apparently a slavic reference to alcoholism (the "green" part owing to wine from the region originally being made from green grapes) , and Tati posted recently about being 2 years sober (and Eugene as also mentioned previously that he had quit drinking a few years ago himself). that bridge-y-ish part where all 4 are going to town is one of my favorite Jinjer passages i think i've ever heard 🤘🤘
before this my favorite was Teacher, Teacher for the musical composition and lyricism, but this one quickly took over. anybody that really listens to lyrics can decipher that its about alcoholism. I knew it before she ever got to a harsh vocal, and the way she decided to use harsh vocals just made it better for me. This band has no equal in my mind, and they are so down to earth and humble when you meet them it's crazy
That snake is a Carpet Python. The serpent in this song is about alcohol so in this case the harsh, dark sections represent the addiction. Tatiana is two years sober.
I am 65 year old veteran and have always been into heavy metal since the 80s. I kinda lost interest later in life because many of the bands sound so generic. Then, about 8 years ago. I heard the Jinjer song Pieces, and it really spoke to me, and after the initial shock wore off, I really fell in love with this band. I also came across other bands with similar vibes. Tatiana is a force of nature, and Jinjer has really been a musical adventure.
I am ten years younger and was never a metalhead. Then I discovered Jinjer - "Pisces" of course. Since then I`m a metalhead - kind of. After years of boring "new" music a new world of music opened for me: Jinjer and then some other great bands I`d never heard of: Infected Rain, Arch Enemy, Seas on the Moon, Velja, Spiritbox, Meshuggah... 😍
YES! I've been hoping you guys would come back to Jinjer at some point. They are dropping a new album in February, this is one of the singles from that album. Very much looking forward to that release, it's going to be excellent. You are not wrong about this band, talent oozing out the ears basically. If you want to re-visit them down the line, here are some suggestions: Home Back: ruclips.net/video/0t_I_ghmXIQ/видео.html Wallflower (one that Mrs Coach might like more): ruclips.net/video/DYZrO7qcLhU/видео.html Judgment and Punishment (vocal take with Tatiana): ruclips.net/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/видео.html Someone's Daughter (new song): ruclips.net/video/djsH7ngox_s/видео.html
lol Green Serpent is metaphorically referred to alcohol in russian. Bitten by green serpent in slavic tradition is symbolic of alcoholism and the depths of intoxication/addiction.....as for the song, the opeth outro is cool. Middle LOG breakdown is cool. Also kinda sounds like an angular proggy album cut on first listen, but quickly turns out to be a banger.....also tati looks hot here 😂😂 Jinjer - Perennial (Live At Wacken 2019) Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live) Jinjer - Judgement & Punishment (Tatiana One Take Vocal)
The contrast reminds of the similar contrast ftom the Swedish band Opeth on their early albums. For a number of years, they did away with the growls and concentrated on playing Prog Rock. Their recently released album gad the growls back again. Maynard James Keating did record a dong on their 2001 album Lateralus with semi extreme vocals, and it messed his voice up. He decided not to use the same style of vocals ever again.
@CoachCastTV I'm sure dome of the bands will maybe nowadays see medical experts. A lot of tock artists in all types of tock have had issues with their voices.
Also, when you react to metal .. or songs like this. Try and decipher the lyrics and explain the lyrics! This is part of the reaction.. and we are looking for this. Your interpretation of the lyrics is part of the reaction. The song is about alcoholism, and its hold on people’s lives.. the green serpent (grapes) letting it go.. because it destroys lives
Thanks for sharing your reaction. Now let's see if you're ready for this Russian superstar performing in China: "Polina Gagarina Raindrops & Lullaby" - ruclips.net/video/jK96-Ud0zlI/видео.htmlsi=rmchqjY-1-P993Nz

Great comment. Thanks for taking the time to provide this info!

She's one of the best growlers at least when she growls you can understand what she's growling!! Like 3 blind mice 3 different meanings of growl....🤪

Thanks for sharing the underlying meaning. That's great accomplishment for them to be sober.
before this my favorite was Teacher, Teacher for the musical composition and lyricism, but this one quickly took over. anybody that really listens to lyrics can decipher that its about alcoholism. Thanks for the info! At least it's not another Florida snake. Good for Tatiana! That's truly awesome.
Specifically, the Jungle Carpet Python, Morelia spilota cheynei, which is a subspecies. It is native to the rainforests of Queensland, Australia.

"Initial shock" to this band is something we can identify with, LOL.

Arch Enemy
Ad Infinitum
Once Human
Spiritbox,... some other great female singers mixing their voices like Tati. Enjoy ❤
Ive been crying waiting for rose but its ok i just died

Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev)
Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev)
Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live)

Interesting. It's hard to believe that some artists can make those sounds safely, but people insist that is the case if they do it correctly.
