Black mesh tip for anyone who has regular mesh: get yourself some black matt spray paint to spray your regular mesh - I did this to my 3x3m aviary panels before I put it up cos I couldn’t afford powder coating - Masking tape off anything you don’t want sprayed. Ten years later it was still perfect and the birds drank the water droplets off it no issues (which was prob the only thing I worried about with it) It really makes a World of difference viewing wise!

I love the wasps! If you do want to have them leave without killing them, though, drench a piece of wood in vinegar or in another heavily smelling fragrance (make sure it's not a fruity or sweet smell) and it should cause them to become confused and want to leave the area. They will eventually abandon their nest and evacuate to a better spot. However, you really should only have to do that if the wasps are causing problems! As long as the wasps recognize you as safe and don't harm you or the animals, many times wasps will act as help with invasive species round up and killing off various bugs that could be hurting plants. You might even be able to befriend them if you regularly leave out a small amount of fruit, meat, or nectar-- just be careful because when they become friendly with you, some of them might more regularly land on you to check you out and say hi, and it would Not Be Fun if you accidentally got them hurt because you didn't see them

We have been in the beginnings of our rainy season and that means there are snails all over the sidewalks at night. I have to turn on my flashlight to ensure I won't step on someone. People think I look down because I'm insecure or some shite but really it's because I'm watching where I'm walking.
Paper wasps are chill af I knocked an entire colony off their nest by mistake with the lawnmower and they were not even aggressive. They just went about their business. True wasp bros (unlike yellowjackets which are cringe).

That wasps nest gives me so much anxiety. When I was little kid, we lived in a single wide trailer but my mom needed a space to do her sewing business so my parents added walls and a tin roof to most of the outside porch and wasps would make nests in the caulking up by the roof. I hated going in there during certain times of the year because they would be flying around everywhere and my mom would just be sewing like it was nothing. My sister went in one time and got attacked by them which definitely gave me the PTSD I have about them now. I always get rid of wasps but I love spiders. I live in the country around a lot of orchards and dairies so I let a few stay in my house to help with fly control. I don’t like killing any kind of critter so if there’s one in my house that I want out I do everything in my power to catch and release. Unless it’s a wasp. Those are demon spawn which need to be sent back from whence they came.

I met Big Ounce when he was working undercover in the Chicago PD gang unit. I was arrested, and after a lengthy, old school interrogation, i gave them nothing. Big ounce was impressed by me not snitching, so he gave me a cigarette, 5 bucks for the train ride home, and told me to keep my nose clean. I left gang life after that. And I owe big ounce my life. Although my jaw still hurts from the left hook Big Ounce gave me. Just a reminder to keep my nose clean.

Tortoises, turtles, and snakes are surprisingly smart compared to their lizard counterparts. This excludes monitor lizards.
That was a tobacco/tomato hornworm, a pest of nightshade plants. Caterpillars do not lay eggs, due to being the juvenile form of their life cycle. Hornworms are important food for parasitoid wasps to lay their eggs in, being big and fat. They're important food for various mammals and birds, as well.
Hornets/wasps are actually pretty good pollinators for certain plants, but they also eat a lot of other pest bugs. They’re also smart enough in their own buggy way to learn to recognize people, so they’re not likely to bother you if you leave them alone (or give them offerings). So keeping them around isn’t as crazy as your friends think it is.

I'm pretty sure the Tomato Hornworm (caterpillar) was making something called frass, which is basically caterpillar doodoo. It's weaponized by some, and used as protective walls or decoys by others. But I thinks he was just having a dump. I'm no expert, so don't take it as reliable information in any way or form

Spotted orb weavers are great but not as pretty as garden orb weavers A. aurantia or marbled orb weavers A. marmoreus!
