Really appreciate that you said if you don’t feel like working out after a shift, don’t. Always hard on myself about that & it’s a good reminder to not beat myself up about it!
Not a nurse...I don’t have the “balls” for the profession honestly but I love watching your videos because you’re honest and you love what you do. I like learning about what you go through and your genuine responses to life. You’re a strong girl!!!
I’m a new LPN and that nervousness is REAL! In the last couple months I’ve noticed a jump in my anxiety. Mainly from being a new nurse, fear of hurting the resident, and starting out I had to deal with a nurse that eats her young every shift. 4 months later I can say it does get better and it will continue to get better! Everything you have said in this video is so true!
Try adidas cloudfoams for shoes! I’m a nurse and I’m obsessed with them, super light weight and comfy and I wear them with joggers and they look so cute!
Cassie Culbreth oh no!! I wonder why! I did read a lot of reviews saying they were big and to size down, did they fit right? Also I read they are not the best for feet with high arches
Welp they were a perfect fit but you’re exactly right, I have extremely high arches. They’re fine for a day walking around Disney, but standing in one spot doing 3 admissions, the constant changes in pace, KILLED me
“You’re such much more than a nurse” is a great mantra to have cause its so hard especially in the beginning to not constantly think about what you’re doing wrong in the job, etc. loved this whole video!
I’ve been getting those ‘waves’ all the time. I’ll come home crying one day, and the next I’m thinking about how much I love my job. I’m glad I’m not the only one
Finally getting back into my nursing school program after almost a year. You have kept me inspired to not give up and have continuously reignited my excitement into becoming a nurse! 💖
I am almost 5 months into being a new nurse. This video helped me a lot, especially saying that you are more than a nurse. It feels like it consumes you sometimes and its so hard to handle for me. Thank you for posting this!!
i would LOVE to see a video on stories of older nurses treating you badly (if they have) and how you handled it. I think thats my biggest fear, and still is as a student nurse, is having pissy nurses who wont teach.
Mary Geniusz I was really lucky to have never experienced this in my five years of nursing. When I was a new grad they built me up, they never were cold, they never bullied. My patient population can go bad QUICK! So we were a team! I wish more nurses understood that not being a team hurts the PATIENT more than it does that “annoying new nurse”. If someone is asking for help, it’s for a reason and for patient safety we shouldn’t be working against each other!
It was so comforting for you to say that you struggled with bringing work home with you for the first 6 months. I am right at the 6 month mark and I have also been a nervous wreck at home and couldn’t shut my work brain off. I have noticed it starting to get better and you give me so much hope that as my confidence grows I will be able to enjoy my time away from work more. I love nursing but as you said I am so much more than a nurse! Thank you!!❤️
Can you do a video on how you organize your shift? Like your patient organization or what type of set up/ check list you use on paper ?! I graduated in may and have been working but love seeing how other nurses organize their patients ! Like med times and stuff like that.
My NCLEX is on 1/21! Starting in the PCU once I pass. Nervous but eager and hearing your experience has been so helpful and encouraging! I’ve watched your videos since I started nursing school. Love them!
Can you talk a bit about what your typical shift is like? Like what’s your patient ratio vs how many patients do you actually take? How’s your typical day and night shift scheduled - like get report, give meds, then do this or that etc? What sorts of skills do you practice often on the floor and any tips - ex. NG tubes, chest tubes, central lines, etc? Do you work a lot of overtime or how many shifts do you usually work every 2 weeks? Do you want to move into a different area of nursing or a speciality? I’m just so interested in your experience! I’ve been a nurse for about 7 months but it’s so interesting to hear how other people do stuff too! Love you! ❤️
I was afraid of needles before nursing school. I got over it by giving blood semi regularly. Go with a friend you trust and work towards looking at the needle. I literally cried the 1st time because I freaked out but now I love it. It feels good to help someone, they usually give you a free tshirt, and lots of snacks and drinks and gives you an excuse to pig out for the rest of the day.
Graduating in May and I NEEDED to see this! I feel like sometimes I know what I'm doing and others I'm overwhelmed by crippling fear of not being able to do it and/or making a huge mistake, so this was encouraging!! Also, I just got a pair of Hokas and they're amazing. A little pricey but have been sooo worth it during my 12hr clinicals
I’m a nursing student with one semester left.. I love watching your videos and listening to your experience as a new grad because I’m so nervous! Your puppy is so cute too ❤️❤️
Something I just thought of to prevent anyone from forgetting to document the patients info is to set a reminder like on your watch or written down somewhere. That way you are either being constantly reminded or you update anything right before you leave your shift.
Love the Irish cream cold brew 💕💕 your puppy is adorable 😍😍😍 I’m not a nurse but I work in a psych hospital and working holidays is definitely my least favorite part of my job
Thank you for this video!! I've been a nurse for 6 months now and I can relate so much to this. When you said "what's a skill that's still challenging to do" I instantly thought NG insertion too.
The reason you said you wanted to be a nurse is the SAME reason why I chose to be a nurse. Minus the background story of course, but the general idea of being that feeling of comfort for someone based off of a personal experience is why I am a nurse today ❤️
My mom died on hospice last month & my daughter was born with congenital heart disease .. after watching my daughter have 3 heart surgeries and spending so much time at the hospital and having to care for my mom on hospice this year I have decided I wanna go to nursing school! I originally wanted to be a cop to help people but realized it wasn’t for me.. i already have one degree but I’m officially starting next month for nursing!! My mom and daughter had a lot of bad nurses so I’m hoping to get a job after school and make a difference in patients lives and be the nurse I wish my family had. Stumbling across your channel has just assured me that I’m making the right choice. Thank you so much!
For shoes I LOVE my brooks!!! I’ve had them for 2.5 years and only wear them to work and they’re still in decent shape, probably almost time for a new pair. Best back and foot support out there
I have the same “why” story almost exactly. My mom had a seizure in the car and I felt so out of control & didn’t understand what was happening. I never wanted to feel like that again in a medical related situation.
loved all these questions! really helps as a nursing student... the shoes i currently wear are the "sketchers white D'lites" they are SO comfortable and are solid white that are whipe-able they aren't the most fashionable shoes out there, but they look very professional and my feet stay comfortable after long clinical days id defenitely look into them !! xox
Love your videos! I’m a senior in high school and want to become a nurse, I learn a lot from your videos thank you!! Also, I work at a shoe store and a lot of the nurses that come in wear ASICS or Saucony and love them.
Love you! You're my inspiration once I'm finished with chemo (again) to start nursing school,I was accepted in our local class but started chemo again. I hope to be half the nurse you are ❤️ I'm also documenting my journey here, please follow!!!!!
We graduated at the same time and I work nights in the ICU. NG/OG tubes and checking residuals is my least favorite part of my job🤮 also Brooks Ghosts are the comfiest shoes to me for long shifts. Totally worth the investment!
My favorite shoes I wore working 12s at a hospital were the zig zags by Reebok. They held up amazing, you can run in them and they were comfortable. Plus they aren’t super expensive!
i have worn croc tennis shoes!! so comfortable and super easy to clean. Have been wearing them for almost 2.5 years and have not been disappointed one minute
Holley! Girl, first, you look flawless with that makeup. It is stunning on you! Second, this video was so inspirational to watch. I have worked in healthcare for almost 5 years now and have been thinking of transition/going back to school for nursing. This video really helped me believe I can actually do it. So, thank you!
You look so beautiful in this video! Love how direct you are with nursing and how you stick up for yourself, good technique to not get burnt out. I use my drive home to decompress as well. It helps living with someone in healthcare because they get it if I just need to come home and relax in a hot shower 💕
I used to almost pass out when I used to get my blood drawn.... While working in a grocery store, at that particular store the customers were always horrible. I got desperate for a change, something that would pay more, and didn't take a long time to get a certified. I took a phlebotomy class(three weeks) I am no longer scared of blood or needles and am a Certified Phlebotomist Technician (CPT 1 💉🏥👩🔬)❤️❤️
You are amazing, and I admire your attitude so much! 💗 Not sure what new balances you have but I wear the WL Cruz and they are soo comfortable! I've had them for three years and they're still in great shape!
Love your videos!!!😊 I can connect with your answers as I had a difficult time my first year as a nurse as well. Had my first code within 3 months on my own and it just broke me. It's nice to hear your stories❤
The only med error I’ve ever made in my two years is forgetting to unclamp the secondary 😂 and it was a month or two into my career - after you do it once it’s a never gonna happen again kind of thing! I’ve walked into my shift to clamped secondaries often times and that’s happened quite a bit! I feel the same about appreciation but it’s more so from management - a lot of the patients are super appreciative and family as well but my boss barely acknowledges us, especially on nights! But yes hands down the worse part of the job is working holidays and weekends! The worst!
@holleygabrielle you have inspired me watching your videos because I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety watching you just brings a smile on my face I’m 21 years old and I have a 4 month old daughter and post depression after giving birth confidence is hard thing to get back for yourself and Jan 21 2020 I’m going back to school getting my associates in Nursing as registered nurse to be proud of my self and giving my daughter a better life so I wanted to thank you and I hope you see this
I was going to school for RN, but life happened and now I'm starting a one year LPN program this march. I plan to go back to school for LPN to RN eventually. But any advice for this transition?
Strong advice: do RN, not LPN. Many hospitals or units don’t even hire LPN/LVN any more. It’s going to be difficult to go back for your RN and do clinicals (yes, you’ll basically have to start over) while you’re working 12-15 hour shifts. Just take the extra time to get your RN. LVN/LPN is 3 semesters. If you go back for an RN after LPN, you’ll have to redo some prereqs, do the additional prereqs, plus 3-4 more semesters that include clinicals.
i started working as a RN in june 2018 and everything you say is soo true. lol my biggest anxiety for the longest time was "i am going to kill these people". it's so true when you say it's normal and it gets better :) great video
Only found your channel the day after new year, but obsessed with your videos!!!! Love them 💕. I’m not a nurse (I’m a learning support assistant in a college in the UK), but I think you’re fab :)! Xx
New grad in L&D here! Ugh nothing is more frustrating than when a mom denies all treatment for her baby, even though she’s being induced for medical reasons (pre-e, A2 diabetes, or a crappy strip). THEN gets mad at ME for not letting her do her thing all natural. We have protocols for a reason, it’s to keep mom and baby alive during a high risk labor 😭
Your videos are super inspiring for me as you are someone I look up to during my journey in nursing school. I had to wait a whole year to retake a class I failed fall of 2018. I retook it and now I finally get to go on and start my second semester of nursing school tomorrow and let me tell you, I AM FREAKING OUT.
I got nauseous and light headed when I saw my first epidural in L&D too!!!! Nothing ever really bothers me but for some reason that did and it was so weird haha. PS- 4th semester nursing student and love your videos and insta! You rock!!
so im a support worker and its very similar to nursing sounds like. i do night shifts as well with clients and have to give meds. Theres alot of personal care too, but not so much doing internal health stuff. Its tough but so rewarding. So i found this video super interesting :)
I love your videos! I’m an EMT student so it’s nice to watch your experiences because I’m expected to do a clinical prac to practice my skills. Also super unrelated but what lipstick are you wearing? Love the colour
ON CLOUD tennis shoes!! they look so cute with joggers and normal scrub pants! I just worked 4 days in a row wearing those shoes & they were amazing!! & was running to codes lol. i have the grey slate color & so cute!
Hey Holley, I love your videos. I start my first semester of nursing school tomorrow. I work as a PCT and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on “nurses eating their young” and your experience if that’s happened to you. Keep up the great content!
Love these videos!! Is there any way you can make a video about how you organize your day when your on shift? Like for ex morning assessment and meds by 9am, etc. I am graduating in the summer and struggle with this sometimes!! ❤️
Where are your sweaters from?? Your nursing journey stories are inspiring. I’m in a massage therapy program and will be taking my board exams at the end of the year. It’s inspiring to see your journey and your success ❤️
Really appreciate that you said if you don’t feel like working out after a shift, don’t. Always hard on myself about that & it’s a good reminder to not beat myself up about it!
AMEN! Take care of yourself🙃
Not a nurse...I don’t have the “balls” for the profession honestly but I love watching your videos because you’re honest and you love what you do. I like learning about what you go through and your genuine responses to life. You’re a strong girl!!!

Thanks, girl!!!! I'll look! I love adidas :)
I read your comment and literally already ordered them haha. I hope I like them!!!!
I tried them, they nearly went into the trash because of how bad my feet hurt 😢
Cassie Culbreth oh no!! I wonder why! I did read a lot of reviews saying they were big and to size down, did they fit right? Also I read they are not the best for feet with high arches
Welp they were a perfect fit but you’re exactly right, I have extremely high arches. They’re fine for a day walking around Disney, but standing in one spot doing 3 admissions, the constant changes in pace, KILLED me
I love the advice "stand up for yourself." I definitely need to start doing this! Thanks for the video
“You’re such much more than a nurse” is a great mantra to have cause its so hard especially in the beginning to not constantly think about what you’re doing wrong in the job, etc. loved this whole video!

I take my NCLEX this month. I feel physically ill every time I think about it..
Wish me luck 🤢
GOOD LUCK!!!! BREATHE! I promise you know more than you think. Trust your education and go GET THOSE BOARDS!
Good luck!!! You've got this, go with your gut and remember the nursing process!
THANK YOU GIRLS❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You got this!!! :)
Welp wishing you the very best of luck ❤️❤️ you can do this! 😊
Looking back on this video you can see how much more appreciated you are now in your new relationship. So happy for you.
Can you do a video on how you organize your shift? Like your patient organization or what type of set up/ check list you use on paper ?! I graduated in may and have been working but love seeing how other nurses organize their patients ! Like med times and stuff like that.
Thank you for being honest and real! I just started my third semester of nursing school and you are my inspiration to keep going.
My NCLEX is on 1/21! Starting in the PCU once I pass. Nervous but eager and hearing your experience has been so helpful and encouraging! I’ve watched your videos since I started nursing school. Love them!

I start my final semester of nursing school tomorrow!!! Watching your nursing journey has been so inspiring and encouraging to me!!! ❤️
Yay congratulations 🎉 I start my second semester tomorrow!
Bailey Brown thank you!!! Congrats to you as well!! Enjoy it! I promise it goes fast!!
goodluck!!
Can you talk about your first code? Nothing about the pt but your role & how you reacted?
Something I just thought of to prevent anyone from forgetting to document the patients info is to set a reminder like on your watch or written down somewhere. That way you are either being constantly reminded or you update anything right before you leave your shift.
I graduate this year with my BSN RN and I aspire to have your energy as a nurse.
6 months into being on the floor as an RN so super helpful/useful tips in this thank you!!!❤️
Love the Irish cream cold brew 💕💕 your puppy is adorable 😍😍😍 I’m not a nurse but I work in a psych hospital and working holidays is definitely my least favorite part of my job

I’m in my first year of college, not knowing what I even wanted to do. After watching this video I just applied for a nursing school!
Yessssss💪🏽 I just started my second semester of nursing school. I love watching your videos you give me so much inspo 💕
The reason you said you wanted to be a nurse is the SAME reason why I chose to be a nurse. Minus the background story of course, but the general idea of being that feeling of comfort for someone based off of a personal experience is why I am a nurse today ❤️

Watching on night shift 💁🏻♀️ defff not something I wanna do forever but money’s good 😅 love you!!!
I geek out knowing your in the IC area. It’s so cool having a nurse in an area/hospital you know and wanna work at to look up to. ❤️❤️❤️
i've been an RN for 6 years; and these are some awesome tips, especially leaving work at home !
loved all these questions! really helps as a nursing student... the shoes i currently wear are the "sketchers white D'lites" they are SO comfortable and are solid white that are whipe-able they aren't the most fashionable shoes out there, but they look very professional and my feet stay comfortable after long clinical days id defenitely look into them !! xox
the chunky white shoe is coming back into style! haha
Where are your sweatshirts from? I love them
Love your videos! I’m a senior in high school and want to become a nurse, I learn a lot from your videos thank you!! Also, I work at a shoe store and a lot of the nurses that come in wear ASICS or Saucony and love them.
Try the Hoka One shoes!! They’re so cute and so comfy!☺️

I love all the advice in this
I love the 10 minute rule! Applying that!
We graduated at the same time and I work nights in the ICU. NG/OG tubes and checking residuals is my least favorite part of my job🤮 also Brooks Ghosts are the comfiest shoes to me for long shifts. Totally worth the investment!

Hi Holley 👋🏻🙋🏼♀️
I freaking love your videos girl! ❤

My Sunday evening just got way better! 👍🏻
I’m not even a nurse or going for nursing but I love your videos so much I watched anyways ❤️❤️❤️
GETFITBVH I appreciate you so much!!!
Get the adidas cloudfoam sneakers!! I love them for work. Super comfy!
I'm doing my prerequisites for nursing and I love your videos!
Holley!!!! Get Brooks levitate 2 or 3! I have a pair of both and they are SO comfortable and supportive for standing/moving all day.
Start my last semester of nursing school tomorrow! Super anxious but excited at the same time 🥺💕
i have worn croc tennis shoes!! so comfortable and super easy to clean.
Graduating in May and this is the video I needed!
I take my NCLEX next week and watching this really encourages me!! Thank you for putting up this video at the perfect time!!
Omg good luck!!!! I take mine in a couple weeks. What are you doing to prepare??
Welp lots of questions!!!! I’ve been using Uworld to study.
I am a teacher and could never ever a nurse (squeamish as hell) but I love watching your videos !! Your energy is such an inspiration !
Michele Rose OMG. We have the same name. 😂
Love your videos I'm a year and a half into nursing and I appreciate hearing your point of view
My excuse for eating from November - December “it’s christmassss tiiiiime”
I feel like you were super genuine here and I love that I found your channel! Xoxo
Love your videos!!!😊 I can connect with your answers as I had a difficult time my first year as a nurse as well. Had my first code within 3 months on my own and it just broke me. It's nice to hear your stories❤
Asics sneakers are THE BEST! expensive, but definitely worth it!
I didn't know your boyfriend was a nurse too! That's so cute 🙂
I wear adidas with the cloud foam and they have been the best investment while working my 12 hour shifts. They are super comfortable.
Your sweatshirt looks SO COMFY. Where can I purchase one? or a few??
Keep going, you’ll be awesome! Hope you’re having a good day :)!
Only found your channel the day after new year, but obsessed with your videos!!!! Love them 💕. I’m not a nurse (I’m a learning support assistant in a college in the UK), but I think you’re fab :)! Xx
I would definitely recommend trying Asics. They are great for arch support and super comfortable!
Ahhh I’ve been so excited to see this video!!!! Thanks so much!!!
I missed these videos!! Love how you’re honest about everything
New grad in L&D here! Ugh nothing is more frustrating than when a mom denies all treatment for her baby, even though she’s being induced for medical reasons (pre-e, A2 diabetes, or a crappy strip). I wish I could’ve left the room during the epidural with my son 😂
I absolutely love kswiss shoes with the insoles. Most comfortable shoes ever. I have learned to leave my work at work also
I got nauseous and light headed when I saw my first epidural in L&D too!!!! Nothing ever really bothers me but for some reason that did and it was so weird haha. PS- 4th semester nursing student and love your videos and insta! You rock!!
also, I wear On Cloud shoes when I work and they are so stinking comfy. The Cloud Swifts are my favorite!
Found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying for your new videos!!! 💕

Yay!! I’ve been waiting for this since you asked us on insta!
I love your videos! I’m an EMT student so it’s nice to watch your experiences because I’m expected to do a clinical prac to practice my skills. Also super unrelated but what lipstick are you wearing? Love the colour
I needed this. I graduate in 8 months and you are so inspiring to me!
Brooks shoes are the best! I’m a nurse and that’s what I wear
I love watching your videos! I also wanted to ask where do you get your headbands that you wear?

Hey Holley, I love your videos. I start my first semester of nursing school tomorrow. I work as a PCT and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on “nurses eating their young” and your experience if that’s happened to you. Keep up the great content!
Great video! Thank you for sharing! Hoping to get into nursing school for Fall this year!
Love these videos!! Is there any way you can make a video about how you organize your day when your on shift? Like for ex morning assessment and meds by 9am, etc. I am graduating in the summer and struggle with this sometimes!! ❤️
Currently taking a break from study for my TEAS! Love your videos!
Where are your sweaters from??
Your nursing journey stories are inspiring. I’m in a massage therapy program and will be taking my board exams at the end of the year. It’s inspiring to see your journey and your success ❤️
