    That BM ceiling paint is the flattest paint I've ever worked with. Nice stuff.

    My shoulders hurt just watching you. Those 18" wear me out on ceilings, but sometimes you just have to do it. Subscribed.

    working a ceiling with flat is fairly simple, semi/eggshell is the bigger challenge.

      This was plenty challenging. The 508 paint dries dang fast

      I got a 300 SQ. ft kitchen ceiling to tackle this morning in Aura Satin, new work PVA`d and sanded out ready to roll, 1/4 inch or 3/8 nap. I'm retired 6 months after 40 years in the trade...first side job

    Must be a fine line between feather edging and keeping a wet edge. Would you lean more towards keeping a wet edge?

      Always have to try for the wet edge... this video just has a wet edge going in two directions.

      James Quant Hi, that is the Milwaukee M18 battery powered l.e.d light. I use the 5 mah batteries, they last about 4 hrs on high beam. It folds up really quickly, and carries very easily too.

    Benjamin Moore is the only paint I use. Ultra flat ceiling paint does all the work. Your doing way too much feathering.....keep a wet edge and when it jells out it’s fine.

    Soooo obviously you know what you're doing so keep doing what works for you. Me, I'd still rather roll that out with a 9" and take an extra 5minutes, or spray it out with how much you've already masked off, or use a jet roller. Not sure I've seen anyone flicking their roller like you in the middle of the ceilings like that - looks like you'd fling paint all over the place (unless you're trying to fluff up a colossus nap or something), I soak/drench my ceilings regardless of how I choose to paint them, never have any lap marks on the 2nd coat or cross hatched spray.

      Cool... the fade off and pulling away from the ceiling avoids stop marks, and this paint is quite thick and heavy, so a little force is needed in that body position to keep going smoothly.
      With how "dry" these ceilings are, and how fast the product dries in this house, I wouldn't have been able to spray and get it rolled quick enough. Had to do a bunch of ceilings but they could be done as I got to them... just put the roller back in plastic ready for the next room or next day.

      @@XCPainter I can tell the ceilings came out great with your technique and I definitely wasn't there to see how fast everything was setting up on you (looked properly soaked by the end). I would still prefer to drench that whole ceiling with a 9" even if I would have to do 3-5 roller widths and then walk the length of the room 20times to maintain a soaking wet edge. Whatever it takes to get that area to dry properly is all that matters for the couple of minutes it takes to roll it. I also really love cornering with my 9. It feels practically effortless with the right technique and nap and ceiling paint. It hasn't let me down in 20years. I do have to admit.... I will consider busting out my 18" setups a little more often... It's just something I seem to always give up on because of how fast I already paint with a 9". I have the newest 18" purdy and 18" Wooster frames with matching buckets and lids and quick connect polls, and some noname 18" metal cage with wing nuts I've had forever as well and they are collecting dust in my basement. I was so excited to buy a proper lid for the purdy bucket too when they finally released one lol. I just always give up on the 18s and somehow I still love the idea of using them.

      I have a large rectangular ceiling of 5m wide x 7m long and there are 4 large windows along the walls 7m walls..I was going to emulsion it brilliant white, running 12inch frame roller in 3x roller width boxes of 1m length, working across the 5m widths, then laying off across the full 5m width as I go..if that makes any sense. I'm trying to keep a wet edge running across the width as I work my way in strips down the length. Is this right???

    • @AlexKunstar
      @AlexKunstar 7 месяцев назад

      @@Carl-yu6uw yes that sounds exactly like what I would do, just make sure you soak it properly. I can see this post is two years old now, one thing I would also add is there are 14" rollers and frames that will give you more coverage than a 9" and not weigh as much as a full 18" when doing ceilings. This makes a pretty big difference at the end of the day, and the best part if you're using the proper 14" frames it still allows you to corner with them, something that isn't doable on an 18" frame that's closed on both ends.

      @AlexKunstar Hey thanks Alex for picking this up today after such a long time since your post. When you say soaked, do you mean use plenty of paint to keep the wet edge going for longer?
