Right? I can see why the general public didn't jive with it as a traditional film with traditional acting and editing, but for what it is, and especially for the time, i think it's fantastic. I love the bizarre choices and sort of "grungy" homespun quality of it. That's part of what makes this whole period of their career so fascinating to me: it feels homemade, low budget, and it just works for them imo
Even in this little silly scene, you can see who the best actors are. Ringo coming in first, John at a pretty close second, George gets third because he doesn't care enough to be awful at it, and Paul is dead last. (thank heavens because he's infuriatingly good at everything else)
Ringo has had a bit of an acting career himself. He and John are always the best in Beatles movies in my opinion. Idk if it’s just John’s charisma though
Ringo was pretty good. His role in the Magic Christian is great, very good film even if it wasn't critically acclaimed. I've read that either Richard Lester or Victor Spinetti said that George was a natural actor and it was a shame he wasn't in more films, but you wouldn't be able to tell given his minimal role here. Paul and John on the other hand... Lol brilliance in music doesn't always translate to brilliance on film i guess

I kinda wanted this whacky little snippet in the movie being a lot bigger element of the whole movie. Like maybe the Wizards were behind the tour, and how they intended it to be both magical & mysterious but it wasn't so much because they were really a bunch of bumbling amateurs who were drinking too much of their own potions/ brew. Reference: "Ringo Starr wraps a Christmas Present".. If done well it could have been quite an interesting and funny element, and a way The Beatles themselves could save face -"hey don't blame us, blame them wizards!

It would have been perfect for the "Summer Of Love." Instead, after being recorded in June,1967, it was shelved and not released until January 17, 1969 on the dreadful "Yellow Submarine" soundtrack which was another McCartney brainstorm! Then this music fades in and it’s performed several times with different variations. It’s on a bootleg but I’m afraid I can’t recall precisely what that bootleg is called. Anyone expecting something like a normal movie needs to just forget it! Absolutely bizarre from start to finish and you will occasionally laugh out loud as you simply won't believe what you're seeing. The brilliant music speaks for itself but there is no plot and poor George often looks like a man who's had no choice but to be dragged into this nonsense because his mates are doing it. Not really counting this crazy movie but In my opinion, John should have done more acting in his career as I think he's the best one out of the four.

i bought this when it was on VHS ... i watched it ONCE - and threw it away ... THE GARBAGE CAN THREW IT BACK AT ME !!
