Thanks Mark
Thanks for this Mark! Really appreciate these videos.
Awesome advice!
I start my golfing day with some yoga stretches 20-30 min at the course similar as you did 8 irons to feel good strike and then longer few 6 hybrids finishing with drives and some half shots
I should probably get in better shape. That’s about all that’s going through my head as I think about warm-up. LOL. To your point Mark, the pros spend a lot of time stretching, working with their shots pre-round…and basically doing just as you’re saying. Makes me think that next time I’ll pick a tee time where the range will be open before I actually tee off to try and at least incorporate what I can do!
My back/body is such that I can't really play unless I warm up properly! I have quite the extended warmup/pre game routine hahaha At home I will hit 50ish putts on the carpet getting the feel for the stroke then I usually do stretching/dynamic stretches for 30 mins, shower and head to the course. When I arrive at the course I'll chip and pitch (up to 20-30 yds if poss) around the green for 10 mins with different clubs After that I'll go to the practice area, and hit 10-15 balls doing whatever swing drill I'm working on, then hit 5-10 full swings with an 8i with that swing thought/feel. Then I'll work through the bag hitting 3 (or 4 if the last one with the club was crap) balls with no real swing thoughts, maybe trying to shape the odd one or two with 9i, 7i, 5i, 3i, hybrid, 2w and Driver, then after the driver I like to hit 10-15 balls with a gap/lob wedge from 50% to 95% swings getting a feel for distance/trajectory. All in, usually takes around 30 mins hitting balls. Finally I'll hit the putting green with two balls and work on getting a feel for the speed of the greens for 5-10 mins, hole a couple 3 footers then take 5 mins before teeing off to get organised, ball marked, tees, gps app ready, have some bants, and then its go time!
Great video Mark. Do you put any credence in the theory that: in your warm up, work backwards from green to tee so that your last warm up shot will be your first tee ball, when the "groove" is freshest in your mind?
Brilliant!love how these videos expose the total lack of theoretical knowledge that pervades PGA pros, how could any sportsperson not include some elements of physical warm up before the technical one, ..... incredible
What is the importance of having 3 shots with every wedge? With 3-4 wedges in a bag, is there too much of an overlap that can cause confusion? I don't want to go full stat-hole with it, but are there gains to be had with the multiple yardages that can be hit?
Can you make one which has no driving range or net?
Donde eres profe... saludos desde colombia me llamo juan carlos
I warm up by stretches and then some wedges about 10 balls
I just warm up my chipping game
I use the first 9 holes to warm up
Unfortunately most courses I play at only have warm up nets, so looking for shot shapes is impossible
The older I get the more I have to warm up😊
Warming up is so overrated. Watch the pros. They warm up, then stand around and talk, then walk over to the putting green. Warm up is now cooling down.. Then they get to the first tee and stand round for five to ten minutes
They do their main warm up in the gym.. they hit golf balls all the time so the just maintain feels etc on the range and see what distances the ball is travelling that day
Amateurs don’t have the luxury of playing 4 rounds a week and 2 practice rounds a week so it’s impossible to compare amateurs to pros in this case.. they’re obviously going to be doing things differently to someone playing once a week
Wow, even more wrong than this ...
