Reminds me on the bad storms back in 1998 - 1999
When Ventura had washes over flowing to the ocean. The flooding was so bad 5th wheel trailers and other trailers were pushed out to the ocean from a camp ground. Homeless camp were washed away. People had to be rescued, that were hung up in tree. The 101 was completely flooded just out side of north Ventura. The valley was flooding also. I had to work in the rain and flooded street. Balboa park was flooded. Many mud slides.

    • @latentsea

C.m. Cordero. It’s not a bridge right there, it’s low lying highway in a flood zone. The campgrounds are in a low lying flood zone just a few feet above the natural river. (The bridge is a little south of the low lying freeway). I have pictures of the RV floating out towards the sea. Ever since then they simply evacuate campgrounds (flood plain) during heavy rains.

At this point it's very tough.
The Central Valley is a basin that used to partially to mostly hold standing water. Ground water would replenish and a mode of aquifer replenishment was continued.
The Valley has been drained for oil/gas capture, farming and urban/suburban use. The State gets more people and the Valley becomes populated. The State becomes dependent on agriculture revenue. Agriculture can't let water sit on the ground and urban/suburban land can't let water sit on the ground. Move water to rivers that go to the sea instead of letting it sit on the ground.
Constant growth. More people. More GDP. More more more. Can't ever stop.

The flooding is mostly affecting those that live along the hills and shores. In other words, not the majority of people. I hope everyone who has been impacted recovers, but the media is blowing these storms out of proportions.

I know this to be true from reporting earlier this year on a storm that hit one neighborhood in west Texas. "Texas is drowning!" the headlines said. No, we were dancing in our yards, except for the couple planned drainage streets, because that's how they drain water in west Texas because we don't get much rain except occasionally and it drains quickly.

The fire/flood cycles are nothing new in the last several decades although they have gotten more extreme. With all the taxable wealth available why hasn’t state government made the needed upgrades to extant infrastructure to alleviate drainage and storage issues for this much-needed rainfall? Oh yeah…sorry, never mind.

Wow. It's almost like the infrastructure of our nation isn't built to handle the climate change. Now instead of pointing fingers at which states infrastructure is worse let's just fix the issue and stop the needless loss of life.
My heart goes out to all effected by this storm. Heed the evacuation order. Don't make someone risk their lives bc you didn't want to leave.

Thoughts and prayers to all Californians. I pray that people will connect with God who can save and make things right even in times of disaster. The one bright spot is that the drought and water shortage will not be a problem for the coming year(s) ... but too bad it all had to come at once. God bless all the folks who are displaced from their homes and hopes of this to turn around for them.

You came to the RUclips comment section for expert knowledge, I see. I'm sure whoever answers your question will be a trusted expert in the field.
Just on the surface, you're talking about clouds and not the actual energy of the system. High winds with no rain are what leads to California's 'worst' wild fires.

@@yodieyuh6077 Yeah the best bet id just don't mess with the weather. Nothing good can come of it. But he does have a point about weather manipulation when it comes to wanting rain, they where seeding clouds all the way back during Vietnam to make it rain on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, why they don't do that anymore in areas hit hard by drought is beyond me. I guess if there is no drought then there is no cause for concern and therefor no problem for the gobernment to come in and "fix". Plus could you imagine the reaction of people if they had planes flying around spraying chemicals that manipulate the weather. People would freak out and the conspiracy nuts would have a field day. In fact i have never even heard of cloud seeding being discussed for the drought problem. Lots of other suggestions, mostly that effect peoples everyday lives and freedoms but no cloud seeding. I think they might have some kind of agenda.
