    Great video! I have watched and re-watched so many of your videos. I'm addicted to your channel! Suggestion... as an avid hunter myself, I always like to walk through the shot (the placement, what vitals may have been hit and direction of arrow/bullet travel). I think that really helps all of us have a better understanding of how to approach the situation after the shot. I wish all hunting videos did this, as it would help so many hunters that do not quite understand how it all works. Some may think it's too graphic to discuss, but I think it's important. Keep up the great work!!

    Are you guys shooting a Thompson Center Impact? I shoot Blackhorn 209 and nearly not as much smoke. We hunt similar river bottoms on the east coast but our rivers are tidal rivers, so we have to account for high tides which is sometimes at primetime during legal shooting hours.

    Fun hunt, gentlemen. This is exactly the style of hunting that I do every year. Ground set, late season, muzzleloader on a stick, sniper style. A muzzleloader with a scope is a really humane way to hunt, and at the same time be able to extend the range of my shot up to 150 yards or possibly more. The only thing that bugs me is how little blood a .50 caliber muzzleloader bullet leaves. Anyway, good shot, Aaron, and a real nice harvest. And a shout out to Mindy. She's a trooper!

    • @TheHuntingPublic
      @TheHuntingPublic  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Jon! We've tried some new bullets this year and found better success with blood trails. Luckily in this case the buck didn't go far and was easy to find.

  • @shanksoutdoorsunlimited7973

    Wow! Ya can tell we all grow up hunting different.first deer Aaron ever shot with a scope and his job is to hunt. I think that's pretty cool.ive shot a bunch with a shotgun and just started rifle hunting last year.the only deer I've ever killed with a scope was with a crossbow.

    What a great video. Tons of great lessons: 1.Hunting in bitter cold pays off. 2. Deer don't always "act" like they are hit when they get shot. 3. Deer don't always leave a blood trail, especially with thick winter coats on. 4. Mindy is the muscle behind the deer drag. 5. Rabbit hats can go bald. Great season gentlemen. You worked very hard and were well rewarded for your effort. And we got watch and learn!! Many thanks!! Can't wait til next year. I will send Aaron a can of "spray on hair" for the lucky rabbit hat.

    Aaron & Greg & Mindy -
    I enjoyed both Bucks you guys harvested this season. We All appreciate "The Hunting Public" videos & look forward to each one. WE ALL feel like we are with you on each hunt. We learn a lot from you & the video quality & sound is excellent.This weather was the most brutal I have witnessed so far. Aaron....Great Deer & Excellent shot and recovery in darkness & negative temps. Mindy you are to be commended for coming out in this weather for the recovery. I think it's TERRIBLE these guys made you pull that deer out !!!!

    • @TheHuntingPublic
      @TheHuntingPublic  6 лет назад

      Haha! Thanks. Mindy is a trooper. She comes along with us on each recovery. The drag out was miserable. I (Aaron) miscalculated our exit route in the dark and we ended up dragging him further than needed. We were pop sickles by the time we got him to the car!

      Myndi- Sorry about incorrect spelling of your name. I was laughing With you not At you with that drag. You pulled that deer on camera further than I could. Do you guys ever deer hunt at night?
    Well you must! The reason I ask is all of you keep saying we didn’t shoot one tonight or tonight should be good. You are not hunting at night!
    It would be correct by saying “ We have a good chance of shooting one this AFTERNOON OR EVENING”
    night

    Messed up how I watch him take this shot without hesitation or question, but if he was there and anyone else was behind the trigger, he would start his, "ole I wouldn't take that shot I'd let him get closer" bullshit that I just watched him so to Ted the video I just watched prior to this... Practice what you preach man, and if your filming, do just that and quit weighing in ón whoever is shooting while your filming like you're the only one that can make shots or call shots for that matter... I love The Hunting Public, hence while I'm backtracking watching older videos, but I just don't care for his grumpy old man I know best hypocritical personality... Ted, Zach, and the rest all have a good attitude, selfless, fun-loving attitude, try joining the team in that manner hoss...

    When I cut my teeth everyone smoked cigarettes, 1970s .. I was told once you made a shot sit and smoke a cigarette.. Then walk to where you last made the shot, never trust your eyes.. Start looking for blood and tracks.. Put a hat on a tree branch or something so you can keep coming back to the last place you saw the animal.. Walk in the direction of where the animal ran. See blood and make circles to find more blood.... Honestly, there should have been zero question on if they hit a deer or not.. Just found the channel and I like the channel so far...

I went a few times though saw deer every time no big bucks though but I need to scout better. I just hunt everything though I love it all hard for me to get serious about just deer. So I don't complain about not seeing or killimg big ones. Can't wait to shed hunt and Turkey season is my favorite. Good luck you guys.

    Thank you Gentlemen and Mrs. Clements for such a quality program. I first found you guys on Spring Thunder years ago and then through MW. I don't know what your plans are for the future, but I selfishly hope you are able to keep the show as much like this past season as you possibly can. I am sure the cost of your equipment is high and you all need to make a living, but the simplicity and reality of your approach is refreshing in a day when everything in hunting seems to be super commercialized. I grew up watching the Drury's and loved their early videos but they sadly went the way of most of the rest of the hunting industry. Today, their stuff is just unwatchable. If I had only one hunting show to watch, it would be yours. Keep up the good work guys -- you are an exceptionally rare group. And please, I beg you, make Zack get a haircut!!

      BangFlop the bullet entered right behind the last rib and hit off the shoulder at a quartering away angle.

    I must say that u guys are superb. U give us average hunters hope. No high fences, not paying for “made deer”, just plain sweat n miles on your feet. I’m from Maryland and I wish you guys could try our public areas and show me what I’m doing wrong. Stay safe n Happy Holidays

    Great buck on plubic. Why is that the first deer with a scoped gun? Just like bow hunting more?

      I hunted with a rifle as a kid but it was an old Winchester 30/30 with open sights. The areas we hunted in Missouri were thicker timber and shots were usually close (within 100 yards) so the open sights worked great. Started bowhunting at a young age also. We like bow and gun all the same. Whatever gets us in the woods!

    i noticed when a deer is hit they start to wag their tail frequently very time as they walked away... every deer that's hit regardless of weapons used..
