Your friend tried to squeeze the living life out of that poor chilli to generate some sort of taste, as this sort of dish is pretty bland without the masala. I don’t see the point when you can so easily enhance the flavour by actually adding masalas.

We buy from the right guy that don’t need to wash and washing will add tons of moisture which will make the meat boil rather then fry but you do what you feel comfortable in
