I play UW Auras. Grinding historic events with it. It could turn the game around but conceding fast for next game is the most optimal for grinding. Though I am getting tired of the deck...
Your ability to identify meta decks and hose them with mage immediately was impressive. They might have gotten away with those net decks.. if it weren't for those meddling kids.
This is a reason I am opposed to playing Companions if not necessary. I have a Spiritdancer deck as well but without Lurrus to keep the opponent guessing after I maybe just land drop on T1.

I always wanted to combine this monument with all the Khan's block Warrior tribal stuff (Chief of the Edge, Blood-Chin Rager, Raider's Spoils etc.) since every Warrior you play then makes two, and the cost reduction lets you go wide super fast. Anyway, happy to see you playing with these Amonkhet cards again just like the old Magic Duels days, great video!
What @@TheGrammargestapo1 said. Innistradi vampires aren't actually undead, merely "cursed immortals". Otherwise Sorin couldn't have become a planeswalker.
@@sofer2230 that's true of most vampires in modern day magic, right? I don't think Zendikar's vampires are undead, and Ixalan's definitely aren't. Its way cooler that way, too.
Great vid! I've been grinding with a budgety mono W monument deck running Shepherd of the Flocks and Emancipation Angels and Benalish Marshals and some Venerated Loxodons on the top end and it's been running pretty strong!
Luca, what is overall your favorite archetype in Magic? In your videos you play aggro, tempo, control, ramp, midrange, and all sorts of thematic and tribal decks, but I don't think I've ever heard you talk about your own preference. Awesome content, as always!
I do indeed like playing a variety of archetypes. Interactive midrange decks are probably my favorite, although those haven't been playable in Standard for a while.
@@LegenVD Absolutely. It seems crazy to me that when GRN came out, Assassin's Trophy and Vraska were top tier, meta-defining cards, and they've been powercrept out of the format, even after ten bans and ten cards with errata. Keep up the great work! Best wishes from Mexico City :)
The sinergy between deputy and priest is awesome, I got destroyed by it today, with containment priest in play if the opponents kills your deputy their creature gets exiled permanently
I really like those sleeves. Is that art from Silverflame Ritual? Were those from and event or the Mastery Pass? Or did you have to get them in the store
Hello LVD! I have a question regarding Zendikar's Mastery Pass, hoping you can answer. It is being sold now in some sort of Bundle, but not for Gems. Does it usually come out right before the set release (or during)? I don't want to miss on the "renewal" gift.
Mentor is a great card late game, but i would agree it is too slow for Historic atm. Drawing cards is good ofc, but not when its the only thing you do on your turn with limited mana on turn 4-6. Feels a bit too weak to spend mana on drawing a couple of cards when your opponents are casting 3-4 spells pr turn. Just my opinion though, you might still find room for it in a niche deck.
@@muffZor89 Yeah, I'm lacking quite a number of rare WCs to assemble more of the deck so I'm stuck with the Mentors I was able to pull from packs. I'll try to phase them out when I get the chance. I'm playing a couple of filler cards like Charming Prince, Remorseful Cleric, Lurrus and Adanto Vanguard, which is probably not helping the performance of the deck. Cleric and Lurrus were quite hilarious against the selfmill deck though
@@chasm616 Can`t really blame you for playing with filler cards if your collection isnt complete. I usually dont play a deck until i have all the pieces. I get my wins with a dirty red deck or esper/dimir control pile as those end games rather quickly. I then get my wildcards and finish the more fun decks. We all have our ways to get around the paywall i guess.
@@muffZor89 Yeah, I run a Mono-Black Aggro Deck and a Mono-Black Aristocrats deck to save wildcards for U/W Oketra and U/W Spirits :s. Rare WCs are a serious bottleneck
These insta-scoops serve to show that many, MANY Arena players aren't actually interested in playing Magic but rather only in railroading an opponent who puts up no fight whatsoever. You aren't a good player and your deck isn't strong if you simply fish for opponents with either A) bad opening hands B) irrelevant hands because you got your perfect opening hand or C) a combination of A and B. Pretty sad and pathetic, really.
Yup. Best-of-one has really removed a lot of the games adaptability. Most of the overly aggressive decks break in game 2 or 3 unless they are actual competent players. Or, you know, mana screw or flood happens.
Maybe it's because the current meta is so combo-centric and people just don't build around the idea of needing an alternate win con. I don't blame them, considering how stupid easy it is to ramp and wish your sideboard in now. It's just annoying that the only way to get a decent game going is to play ranked, which isn't even that different in how ready people are to scoop at the slightest hint of an actual fight. There have always been poor sports and quick scoopers since Magic began, but it seems, at least to me, particularly heinous and prolific on Arena. Sadly, it's really the only way to play these days and still be safe. Much bigger problems in the world right now, for sure, but eh... irks me.
I don't get it, the best wins are when you thought you were dead and buried imo. Still my favourite win was against someone who got out Ugin and wiped, I was playing mono black weenie deck and had them at 5 life. I had no haste creatures or toughness greater than 3 and was top decking, drew Lurrus and cast him putting kaya's ghostform on him from the grave. Opponent could only kill him once and on my turn I got demonic embrace from the grave for the win! Plus if I see someone playing a deck like this I haven't seen I'll stick just to see what cool things it does and maybe gimme some ideas. But yeah I play a crappy Vampire tribal deck and the amount of times on turn 3 I had 3mana sorin and lands in my hand and opponents scooped as soon as he was on the stack is insane.
I have these friends who have the mind set of “Concede so you don’t give them the satisfaction”, which is just terribly unsportsmanlike. A game is never over until there is a negative sign by your health. Although I have to admit, the urge to concede is unspeakably strong when I play against “Dimir Steal your stuff” decks. Just watching them play your cards and have nothing to do for the rest of the game doesn’t even feel like playing at that point.
Not gonna lie. The turn two spirit dancer surrender was really satisfying to watch!
