I only stumbled upon your channel a few months ago. I tend to watch youtube on my tv to relax, so I can't comment from there. I pop over to my laptop when I find something interesting. I have been catching up here and there with your reviews. I really really love your reviews. Great honest opinions. Just me...I wouldn't say skip ahead to what your want to watch. Why would you skip ahead. Miss some really great video? Not me. You give great detail and well...what else can I say. Thank you so much.
Thanks very much for the kind words. And yeah, I don’t say that anymore- but it came from a place of “you might be ready to click off this video now, but wait! Click ahead to see the thing you really wanted to” 😂 it’s rough making longer format videos in a world with an 18 second attention span haha. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Attention span? What was I talking about? Oh yeah. LOL Seriously I think it was one of your Bangkok vlogs where you were reviewing one property right next to another owned by the same company....I think. I don't remember. It was what made me subscribe though. So I got free time to relax and watch a few more. Thanks.
Thanks for the great review… I wii be travel to Phuket Pullman Panwa resorts in July… give me some ideas of the location and not too much expectation…. Thanks this so helpful 👍👍👍
One crucial thing to consider is price point as for people travelling from the UK/EU this is £2,000 cheaper than others such as Melia and the Intercontinental which may be slightly better. Great video !!
I think it’s one of the better resorts I have seen in Phuket. The gym has a great enticing scenic view, something rare. I love the lap pool at the top level as a good pool is an important criteria for me. Unfortunately I don’t think I could stay there given the highly hilly terrain as I’m already in my 60s.
Just to note, my particular room didn’t require any stairs or hills besides from the drop off area to the lobby. If you had a room in a similar location you’d be on the same level with the bar, restaurant and pool. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Each to their own i suppose. We stayed there in 2019. Personally i loved it, as i love the set out and beautiful tropical lanscaping. Yes there's a lot of hills to climb, and a painful task for me as i was due to have a hip and knee replacement. But i was in no hurry, well worth the effort exploring this magnificent resort. The downside, not much as far as shopping goes for the girl's. And very few eating places outside the resort. We are inquireing about booking again this October, i noticed they have a shuttle service now. Not sure where it goes to, in town i hope.
Great review! What perturbs me with many resorts in tropical destinations is how unimaginative they are in designing guest buildings. Stacked 3 floors high with cookie cutter shaped rooms, they resemble generic motels found everywhere. No doubt it's an inexpensive construction technique. As a guest I'd pay more to stay at something unique - architected in tune with the surroundings.
Sure, generally I agree. In this specific case I think they were a bit limited by the terrain they were building on. Of the 10 resorts I stayed at in Phuket/Samui on this trip it probably was the most generic room design… but also the lowest cost per night. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Fantastic reviews am really impressed with all videos. Can you please help if you recommend 1 hotel in Phuket and 1 hotel in Koh Samui luxury but family friendly (for kids age 7-9). Thank you so so much 😊
Thanks for a great review! We stayed in mid-January and really liked the place during our four night stay. The only info I’d add after having been there is this: there are some shops and a pharmacy in Naithon beach, but not everything shows up on the phone’s map. It’s possible to take a tuk-tuk to get back to the hotel if you want to spare your legs from the steep climb. The resort has a lot of cool plants and attracts reslly cool (wild) birds if you’re into that sort of thing.
Michael Volker 6 seconds ago We stayed here in January 2022. I think what tends to get neglected in reviews of this property is how spectacular the beach is - we've stayed in many beach locations in Thailand and this for my liking is the best. The beach area is off the beaten path so even during peak season (when we were there) it's quiet. If you're a decent swimmer; the rocky area below the resort is wonderful for snokelling full of tropical fish - this is significant bonus considering that in Thailand good snorkelling usually requires a boat trip $$$. The beach will be busier with locals on the weekend and holidays. Thanks FFT for the video - I agree with evevrything you point out.
Great point, I was thinking the same when I saw the beach. The pricing of this hotel is not too expensive. I think I might stay here for few nights when I travel to Phuket but not the whole trip.
looks pretty nice to me. I especially like that there are rocking chairs in a public area. Personally I like the Accor brand including even their lower tier hotels like the Mercure for their stylish flair. Heartbreaking to see these hotels trying to keep up service levels with so few guests though and can only hope things begin to improve soon. Phuket was crazy cheap for people coming from Vietnam before the pandemic and thus I have been to this beautiful spot multiple times. But now I don't dare leave Vietnam till things are really back to normal.
I fully understand you POV, but after lockdown in Saigon over the summer my thinking changed a bit and now I’m more than happy to jump through hoops and/or quarantine in order to travel. Tbh I really enjoyed my most recent quarantine in Saigon 🤣… but to each their own! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Wish I could give this review two likes, lol. You made a very good point about distance flown/star rating of hotel. Phuket is only a 7 hr flight out of Dubai, so its not that hard to get to, so I never felt the need to stay at a 5 star anything on any of my trips there in the past. I can see myself in a resort like this if I'm making the trip with someone worthwhile, but solo, I prefer to be closer to "the action". Its very much like a trip I have coming up to Hawaii from the east coast of the US. Its an 8 hr flight, not that bad, and given how expensive its going to be for lodging and transportation, I can stay at a 3 star & be happy. Looking forward to your other reviews.
I actually think you have been very generous on the Flip Flop score for this Resort, just one question did the Room service price reflect the portion sizes? I stayed at a Hotel mid 2020 that had all room service in take out containers and paper bags however they did provide plates, bowls and cutlery in the room so you could dish up your meal. Overall l think your opinion is valid👍
Yeah, I’ll note that this was the only hotel (of 15) that I recently stayed in in TH that did service like this. I genuinely believe they thought it was superior because the packaging was so “cool” 🤣. I don’t remember exact prices but they were typical for Thai resorts- so that’s probably around $10 for the Satay and $14 for the Salad.
A small addition: we stayed in January 2023 and the room service portions were normal size for Thailand! The packaging stuff is still the same, seems wasteful and the presentation is much better if you get the food on a plate.
“Sala” is a word in many languages. In the context of Thai Architecture, we are talking about the Thai word. ศาลา has etymological roots from Sanskrit. The word was originally used in the Atharvaveda written around 1000BCe. The word Sala in Portuguese (and Spanish) is derived from the Proto-Indo-European word “Sel” referring to a human dwelling or village. This is also where the French Salle and English Salon were derived from. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thanks for all your amazing reviews. A little warning for people thinking to stay at this hotel, the beach is not the nicest by far in Phuket. The hotel staff is the slowest we have ever encountered in Thailand. 1h30 to get a bucket of ice... several reminders. dont count on the buggies to go around as it takes them over 20 min to come and get you anyway. everything there felt on the cheap side also for breakfast and service. Bed in our suite was on wheels and moving constantly on top of squeaking. Personally while not a horrible hotel at all, I would not recommend that hotel. There are like you point out amazing hotels in thailand not as expensive as the four season and better than the pullman.

You'll love that pull hotel at panwa. The service and hotel set standard so high for me that most 5 star hotels are mediocre in comparison .

Fair point- when I was there, literally 3 weeks after Thailand reopened, every shop along the beach was completely closed. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Nov/Dec

Thanks ❤, why are you traveling alone???
Why aren’t you??? 😅
Does anyone know the name of the mountain-side resort at the other end of the beach? Also, does the Pullman face east, west, or…?
Those are the Malawiana Villas- I don’t believe it’s a proper resort. The Pullman faces W/S. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

It's Portuguese, but thanks for an honest review.
