Hi Dallas Seavey it’s Me Ari from the fourth grade , in my class we are doing this Iditarod project in class where each student is assigned a musher ! And guess what I got you ! I am so happy with my musher ! And I wish you luck to win the Iditarod race right now I see you on my map in first place ! That is so exciting! Bye Dallas and thank you for taking time to read this message!
I remember the old days when Susan Butcher and Rick Swenson used to have to break trail through waist-deep snow and it took around 2-3 weeks to make the trek. It was more In line with how the original serum run was done. Now days is seems the trail is packed down for them by snow machines and many other new technical advantages and it now only takes around a week to make the trek. Don't get me wrong, I am sure it is still brutal having to push yourself and dogs to the limit and you have to face the same weather conditions but the race is not like it was 30-years ago, or more. Having said all that, I still like to see the race and give credit to those who give it their all to make the journey.
Thank you Dallas. This is the first year that I tried to stay up with the race and learn about it. I am 56 yrs old and live in milton Florida. Lol. No snow here . I always wondered what you carried in your sled. Thanks again.
Thank you for taking the time to share this. I know very little about your sport, other than I really enjoy watching the Iditarod. This video helps me and probably many other's understand a little more about sledding. You answered several questions I've had in these few minutes. 👍Happy trails!!! Roger
Curious what brand of dog booties you use? I can't get my dog to keep booties on for the life of me...they fly in 4 different directions when she runs. We don't mush, but we do winter hike and I'd love her to have more protection than Musher's Secret.
Top ten items I pack on my sled: #1. Bunsen Burner, mug, water, and hot chocolate packs. #2. An extra pair of super fluffy gloves. #3. Seat cushion. #4. Top quality sunglasses. #5. Each dog's favorite Kong. #6. 100' #157 braided rope. #7. A neon yellow jacket that can bee seen 10 miles away. #8. An extra fluffy scarf #9 Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. #10. Authentic maplewood walking stick.

No don’t. This race has been responsible for several deaths of the dogs. Just don’t!

Very cool, thanks a lot. How calm can one person be to shoot a video right before a 1000 mile race? Don´t ask me, ask Dallas!
Cheers and happy trails
