Prof Amritjit unfolds a very deep understanding not only of what happened during partition but also how it should not be allowed today to be used against the highly democratic minorities of India which unfortunately have become the victims of short-sighted majoritism. His reference to Sikhs that are being incited to nurture hatred against Muslims is of particular significance. Amritjit Singh's edited book is also important as it covers the partition pangs of whole of the region and is not limited to Punjab.

Prof Amritjit Singh ji, once again an enligthening interview from you. I had watched your earlier interview too and whilst forgetting the complete words, recall somewhat a poem in English written by a Black American which was translated by an Indian professor in Rohtak known to you to a telling comment laced with humour.
You rightly point out in your present interview that the noises that the Hindutva Brigade is making will create problems for the people on the borders whilst they themselves will stay unscathed - be it Gujart or UP/Bihar. Unfortunately the present political leadership is choosing to look the other way or is actually giving their tacit support - I really don't now.
Just today evening there was a TV news report that the RSS cheif Mohan Bhagwat visited the head of the Imams in Delhi. Again was it with a sincerely of purpose, I am unable to answer.
I greatly appreciate the Partition Arcihives people for organising such a wonderful series which is putting stories in the correct perspective.
