Great to see, that you own a SEGA Saturn. It's my favorite gaming system EVER! I ♥ the Virtua Fighter and Panzer Dragoon games. MK Trilogy is kinda rare on the Saturn, so extra KUDOS for you and you just earned my SUB!
If you are running a flash cart or a modded Saturn, there was a "Quality Hack" that helped out this version quite a bit. Fixes graphical bugs, music, etc.
Been a more recent fan on you lately but just wanted to say I'm glad I got to know you and your great old school MK content! If I can have a request if you have not done it yet. I know you are probably sick of MK Trilogy after this (don't blame you) but maybe do a playthrough of the "Super" Sub-Zero in the N64 version of Trilogy. I bet you could have some fun with him. :)
Hey Justin thanks for the awesome comment I appreciate it. Yeah I’ can do that for sure, I like that version of Sub Zero AND I feel like I’m starting to get some of the exploits down so it’ll be an interesting play through, thanks for the request! 👊🏼
Man I had a sonic Sega Saturn demo kiosk with this playing on repeat when friends came over. Sold it when I moved. Biggest collector regret. Great video love the Saturn love its a forgotten console.
I own a Saturn with UMK3, and I would love to own Trilogy for the console for the console as well, but it is so freaking expensive nowadays that I have never seen a copy for sale at a price I felt I could justify. I could buy the same game on the N64 or the PS1 *with* the console (!) for the same price or less. So, I'm glad you gave me a chance to vicariously experience this snow leopard of an MK port. Maybe someday...!
I have two of them and never even play them. I lucked out on an eBay bid and won them both years ago, maybe like 6 or 7. The games are really expensive so I bought a pseudo Saturn cartridge intending to uh..."load some content" on it, alas, I just don't have the time anymore. Too bad because it seemed like a great system. At least I have a backup if one fails if I ever get around to it lol
I remember Trilogy first being announced and Saturn being one of the systems it was announced for. But I always thought it was canceled or a misprint, cause I didn't know it actually released until many years later.
you should do a battle video between ps1 vs sega saturn vs n64 mortal kombat trilogy😅 i’ve had a little go on the N64 version the game is fun, it is a hard version of the game, the voices and speech is a little low in trilogy but crank up the volume and enjoy lol
I'm actually very impressed by how this version. Plays really good, better than the PSX, I think maybe this is the best version overall.. solid 60fps, all audio, and extremely minimal in-game load times is a solid deal for a fighter like this.
Some of the transparency effects, like Smoke's smoke and the shadows of the characters have a rainbow colour, it this from the camera or is that also seen on screen?
nice Gen 1 Saturn. IDK if you know this but that model is capable of using the Swap Trick due to the Access Light. I bought one on ebay in maybe 2010 and played Panzer Dragoon Saga along with most of the Console's Library.
Nothing beats the arcade fighting stick that was made when MKAK came out, feels like the real arcade, as for controllers my fave is the Xbox Series S controller I use with Mugens, as for actual console controllers, the PS1 just feels right for some reason, the SNES next and then the 6 button Genesis and Saturn controllers.
In my opinion the Saturn version is the best looking, with the sharpest characters. But it unfortunately has some slowdown when certain characters or effects are on screen. Solid port, but the slowdown bites.
Trilogy on Saturn was pretty easy lol Saturn's controllers were made for fighting games and the load times are slightly better than ps1. I still get my fix on my Saturn even though i got it for ps1 and n64
SO EXPENSIVE!! I would say no, unless you have tons of excess cash or you get an Action Replay and buy nothing but Japanese Saturn games. I've been collecting Saturn since about 2018 and I've spent over $5000 on it. 31 games, six controllers including 3D and arcade, 5 cartridges... and every single game I own would've been way cheaper for a Japanese copy.... oh yeah, 8 jap games, too. Lots of good even great games.... but VERY expensive.
@@dragonspeed99 I like how you asked a question and I gave you an answer but RUclips decided to hide it. Probably because there were dollar figures in there and you're not supposed to think about your money or something? If you are interested in Saturn, make sure to get an Action Replay and buy Japanese games. Saves a lot of money.
It came out quite late on the Sega Saturn?! 1997 I think?! So many rushed conversations here, Die Hard Trilogy as well?! And what about Alien Trilogy, that came out in 1996. Should've been better sigh...
I remember having Trilogy on PS1 but being a but annoyed with a load times…probably because I was so used to cartridge based platforms before that….i regret not picking up an N64 even if it lacked FMVs (if only for Goldeneye and No Mercy)
Thanks, if only I could get better at hitting those combos after the straight jump kick or punch, guess that just needs practice like anything else. I appreciate the comment 👊🏼
I always eventually just pick noob or kintaro to cheese the game. Still probably my favorite mortal Kombat. Do you have umk3 for the Saturn? I didn't even know a console port of umk3 existed beyond snes and genesis. I thought they just moved onto trilogy for the 5th Gen. Wonder how good of a port it is.
@danbauer3669 thanks. I'm more sad about someone stealing my Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon collection a month before the eviction. I would be sitting on some money right now.

The reason difficulty doesnt seem to make a difference is because it largely doesn't. All it affects is how fast the difficult ramps up to the max. If you start on very hard, the CPU starts at almost max difficulty from the first fight, but on very easy it doesn't hit max difficulty until the end of the ladder.
