@@JayMaasRecording Hey Jay. Coming back just to say, I got the Pulsar MU yesterday to try this and it worked flawlessly. I liked it so much I eventually tried it on the Drum Bus, where the issues were happening, and it blew me away. Thank you again.
Thanks for this Jay, awesome video! So would this compressor typically be applied after a standard mix bus compressor? Also a little off topic, but I have your room sound drum library and was wondering if the centre hit or rimshot would be the most realistic articulation in a hard hitting pop punk / rock context? I'm always going back and forth between the two. Cheers!
Honestly, if I was the mixing engineer on this project, I would have applied this treatment to the drum bus. However, since I’m receiving it as a project that I mastering, I have to be a little bit more careful but I’m still shooting for the same effect. As for the drone sample library, the rim shot is going to cut better but the center hit is going to be a little bit fatter. It really depends on what you’re going for but both sound great.!
So useful video! Thanks Jay!
This is great info! Thanks for sharing Jay!
Awesome tips. Thank you. I usually struggle with that issue on acoustic rock tracks (go figure). Would you mind sharing the setting of the Vari Mu?
Just medium attack and release!
@@JayMaasRecording thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

@@JayMaasRecording Thanks mate, appreciate your reply here
What is the release time on the 2500 set to ?
Also , how are you getting a digital readout of the gain reduction from the vari mu ?
Medium release, and I’m not getting a digital readout from the vari? That’s the 2500
The pop up UI for the vari mu is only controlling the levels of his sends/returns and the latency compensation
