Wtf Ever yeah the drummers were pretty much required to be amazing. Guitar didn’t need to be technical just great song writing in the 90’s. You look at the 80’s the drummers just needed to be solid not technical. Guitarist needed to be super technical fast shredders. The 80’s was filled with fake bullshit bands towards the end. Labels would sign any band that looked like girls, had amazing guitarist they didn’t care about the music just the looks the labels would have music written for them. Then grunge and the punks put an end to it with simple songs that were fucking real!
Lol the look on Byron's face as he starts beating the shit out of Travis' kit at 1:02 he's like "I can keep going like this all day". What a fucking beast!!
I heard the story on this is that Travis had Byron sit in on this song so he could stand in front of a mirror and make sure his cool red hat was cocked perfectly to the side so all the little "punk rock" girls would think he's so cool and then he could negotiate his reality show contract. PW=real punk
@@lkkhouston in Fairness to Scott, I believe a lot of the times his swings on the Snare were wider, and perhaps hits harder and louder as well; Doing that while playing fast is pretty impressive.
@Gamer Duro It was more of a generic comment but if you listen to the song Society he plays half a bar of 16th notes on the tom tom and half a bar of 16th notes on the snare. It is usual to accent on the tom tom or play the bar the other way around so snare to tom tom. Tom tom to snare is a little unusual and that phrase can pretty much sum up Byron's playing. I have seen people cover Pennywise and after one song they are drenched. Byron plays with a rocking motion and gets tremendous speed with minimal movement and that is a skill in itself. Don't forget he using a single bass drum like all good punks. With a double bass drum set up this is much easier but does not sound punk so not advised.
@duanesters hes playing in another band which has a weird name that i cant remember, if you search scott raynor 2011 theres vides of him playing gigs this year. also a very recent interview with mark and tom where they say they have kept contact with scott and spoke to him recently; which i thought was cool
@migoffspring hell no bro. i like byron and he had an influence on my playing, but chuck biscuits, and bomer (of rkl) put him to shame. shit so does boz of mad caddies and rkl.
I find it hilarious how some old school blink fans say Travis overplays the songs and then we see what Byron does in this song lol. No hate to him btw he’s awesome
It's crazy how 90s punk rock bands had so many talented drummers

Frenetic. When it comes to playing at speed he is in a league of his own. Also the only drummer I have seen who goes from tom to snare. That is unusual
