Does anyone notice that the cycling rhythm pattern is the same throughout the entire song. They just change the pitches and harmony. Even the ending of the tunes is just the same rhythmic figure at half speed. Brilliant writing.
Damn straight! I first heard Stray The Skies and was immediately hooked! A little Meshuggah, a little Soilwork and throw in some STYX, Orgy & a sprinkle of Devin Townsend lol...they have a unique sound no doubt! Love 'em
A brother of mine showed me this song today and I cried at the 3:33 mark. Meshuggah's Straws. I haven't heard anything come close to them and this nails that feeling. Absolutely beautiful. I can't believe I haven't heard of this collective until today. New favorite band after hearing a few songs.
Came back after a day to to report that the 3:33 groove is all I thought about at work, showed this to colleagues, all Ive listened to all day in loop. This shit blows my mind. I was up until 7am looping the groove to memorize it and after, I cant stop. Its what ive been trying to write for my entire musical journey and you guys nailed it. Ive never been more impressed, aside drom hearing Meshuggah when they play and release new albums but just wow. It makes me want to retire from playing all the instruments I do as you all nailed it so hard that I dont need to play anymore. You made me cry at the sophistication of that groove. I bow as a Japanese travelled American. God bless you all for this gift.
You make me want to travel to your region so I can listen to you all and the fellas of Meshuggah speak about how your minds came to this note selection conclusion. It's the land and your society. It's directly related to your ideas. In the US, we're a little more trapped, mentally. I need the release. Thank you for changing my ears.
It's a constant "No fucking way" did they pull that off. And then I watched a live performance in a studio setting... You're standing next to Meshuggah in my book of human discovery of the dopest grooves ever unlocked in music.
There is not a single aspect of the music you guys make that I do not thoroughly enjoy. I'm constantly hearing new things that just blow me away. Truly a huge influence in the music I (try to) make. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and soul.
0:46- 1:16 is one of the in all of music hands down. so danceable. so hype. criminally underrated. Never spent any money on you guys I'm sad to say, but I've been a Fan since about 2017. Please come to washington DC so I can see you guys!
What a sound !!! I fly in your musical atmosphere ... Love this band ... Don't find right words to describe what i feel when i listen to your music ... Thanks guys ... Hope to see you on stage soon ... I send this message from France. I'm gonna tell about you as much as i can ...
I think this is about the no win situation we can sometimes find ourselves in when we fall into the same pattern of either sheep like conformity or brazen non conformity. The push & pull of these mentalities can leave us going nowhere & the war we then end up fighting is the one within ourselves.
@@paulgreen2401 fair. also the 13 years between albums also really builds up expectations on that album I don't blame people for being disappointed lol
Does anyone else here think that Vola was influenced by Meshuggah's "Rational Gaze" when writing this song? I just got that vibe from the intro and polyrhythm parts of the song. The differences being the key changes, guitar tunings, and overall atmosphere. Despite that, I love the overall feel of this song as well as the album. This band manages to do what few do and incorporate the best of theor influences ranging from prog metal, alternative rock, electronica, 80's dance, and even some hint of fusion and new age as well. This is definitely a band that more people should discover and I'm proud to have run into this band when I did. Keep up the great work \m/\m/
Nah, this song has nothing similar to Rational Gaze, come on. However, it sounds very similar to the part at 2:45 in The Spiteful Snake. Go listen to it. The beginning riff of this song and the riff in that song.
+Andres Yáñez I like to use the term "modern" to describe music made using predominantly modern equipment. Aka Synths digital hardware etc... Those bands you listed don't use them as a focal point. Haken is on its own other level tho.
+Andres Yáñez haken is not totally djent, they were an dream theater copycat band but now they're doing their own stuff. and it's god tier, but i don't think they'll classify in another genre more than neo prog

Well spotted:)
@@volaband Holy shit! Thank you for the epic music.
Yep yep!
I'm so happy I discovered this band. It's like they mixed every style of music that I love and created one band: VOLA. Fucking perfect
a view days ago i saw them with Monuments here in karlsruhe at the first time. Awesome! I bought all that i found :D
Damn straight! I first heard Stray The Skies and was immediately hooked! A little Meshuggah, a little Soilwork and throw in some STYX, Orgy & a sprinkle of Devin Townsend lol...they have a unique sound no doubt! Love 'em
The perfect song to be chosen as album opener. It makes you want to listen to the whole thing
La media VOLA 👌😎

That riff is too groovy

whens the next album?
Did you hear it? What do you think?
Great album. Great band. After being bitterly disappointed by Tool's latest album, I'm glad to have discovered these guys.
fear innoculum wasn't bad imo just a bit underwhelming
@@funnyperson4027 It'd have been an okay-ish album had the band not released the four albums they had prior to it.
@@paulgreen2401 fair. also the 13 years between albums also really builds up expectations on that album I don't blame people for being disappointed lol
This is such a fucking good song. God.
the transition from 3:04 to 3:33 it's one of most beautiful things I ever heard...
I could listen to a loop of 3:03 to 3:18 all day
It's been since March since i discovered these guys and I'm STILL digging this album! Finally got the CD as well. Excellent work!
Absolutely the best #&ehjeur you have pushed out so far.
Progress further.
Not backwards

OfficialGATG i hear the vibe its awesome. Love rational gaze
I get the more general Nothing vibe, not just Rational Gaze, but yeah.

At the end of the day, we all rip off Meshuggah
Straw pulled at random (?) Fucking brilliant!
Excellent stuff guys. Very impressed with your sound.
:jaw-dropped: You guys rock big time!
Thank you for your music VOLA, you give me PEACE
: )
I need 1 hour version of the intro
what a fucking great discovery
1:55 Sounds very very Devin Townsend like.
Bloody hell guys! Keep doing that thing you're doing, it's awesome!
Amazing Band. I have a guitar cover of this song if you wanted to see how it's played.
Good lord.
Wow.
Awesome sound 💜
Quarantine brought me here 👍
So amazing.
Take my money!! Can I get a physical copy of the record somewhere?
This is amazing!
I'm pimping this band hard!
Cool stuff
this is the closest thing to modern prog ive ever heard. what do we call this genre? heaven core? lol
+Halogenofficial What ya mean modern prog, stuff like Between the Buried and Me, Haken, etc don't count?

holly soord they play djent, djent is guitar technique, if they use it they are djent, tho they are god tier
and they use also jazz fusion
Don’t matter really... just listen to it 😀
Disperse + Meshuggah
And maybe also Taproot's "Gift" album, but a bit of "Welcome" as well ;)
More like Meshuggah meets Mew
Omg do you know what he says at 3:04?
Am I the only one that hears a ton of STP in the vocals of the verse sections?
Reality, the spiteful snake.
Needs more saxophone
Depeche Mode x Meshuggah?
Damn... A meshuggah that isnt boring. AWESOME
No, this is nothing like Meshuggah. Not even comparable on any level.
Meshuggah meets Tears for Fears
No
