These last two drafts with BK were SO GOOD.
Even the other BK attempt with the infinite forests and raging ravines. Both these decks were amazing!

I love how excited Luis gets even though he's not piloting the deck, it's his enthusiasm and love for the game that's kept me such a big fan for so long

I just imagine every single one of their 3 opponents screaming at their monitor "Are you kidding me right now?!?"
For sure this event had people tilted as hell. I stopped trying to qualify after losing 3 finals of the feeder in a row. Also had no luck in the 64's I did get into. I mostly hated the feeder league because it felt like you need a super busted deck to 4-0 and only play vs busted decks. At least with the in pod play it's less aggravating losing to stuff you passed.
Overall its just such bad EV to play this.
I felt for guy in round 2 who mulliganed down to find flash and worldspine and still got the old scroogie.
You just know Reynad was salty as hell

Winning the last game of the finals because of the last card passed to you in pack 3 was really amazing. Complete flex of your knowledge of the cube and how to construct decks.
Best watch so far. Lsv and bk are the combo, doomsday and thassa's oracle, tinker, citadel and tendrils are just there wincon's
The friendship between BK and SLV really makes a lot of sense when we see BK walk into the trolling over and over.
Citadel into doomsday twice in a row is variance coming back for that game where Luis' opponent went turn 1 Lotus, tireless tracker, ancient tomb, lightning greaves, swing and pass.

Now this is the coolest combo deck I've ever seen here
Because it's like all over the place and yet completely busted at the same time-getting forced the rain of filth in the very last pack was just icing on the cake, as it made all of this possible

You should also take into consideration that his opponents did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of relevance. No discard, no counter, no interaction, no Thalia or anything of relevance to slow this down or disrupt it. It's not a completely busted Doomsday deck. It's like a medium plus powered Doomsday deck. Seen Doomsday decks much more broken than this. With that being said this was a super entertaining video. Got some favorable matchups, played well and had a few moments of luck aswell to get the 3-0 6-0.
@@Stokkeland23 Not too much most decks can do about this if they get killed turn 4 or sometimes turn 3. It´s very hard to to have a clock that fast or to have interaction vs how this deck goes off. Thalia might not even have been opened even if it is, that´s 1 card to mull towards for the boros deck. The flash deck could have won maybe if they could flash wurm t2 but they also got t2 balanced to 0 lands one game. I think your underrating how good this deck is with how well it drew.
@@Lollerpwn1337 It's force or discard although they had the thoughtseize and inquisition and Duress aren't anywhere near as high picks. To be honest the draws were also crazy good to get so many turn 3/4 wins.

Turn 3-4 kills isn't really anything special with Doomsday.

Saw the 1 hour run time, thought it was gonna be another failed run. Glad to see my expectations subverted !
I thought for sure it was going to be an 0-1 drop and I was very sad. Then I saw it wasn't that, and my hopes increased slightly, but it still felt like it was going to be a 1-1 or 2-1, because there was no way there was enough time for a second draft. As we got closer to the end, I started to realize that maybe they just split it into two. So glad they did! Was really nice to have my cynicism proved wrong as opposed to my hope (as has been the usual lately).

Also the lack of people saying it this time kinda proves the theory that the people that say stuff about the run time know the outcome when they say it.
@@cmorinster what do you mean? I'm a "run time junkie" in the sense that I wish there was a way for run time to not be tied to results, and I was pleasantly surprised, so I commented about it. I actually think for multiple level events, postponing part of the event for the next day sometimes but not every time is a great way to not have the runtime give away the ending. In the vast majority of cases, though, it does.

During the draft, I will happily admit I didn't have the vision to see how this deck would come together - but even just after Round 1 and the first game of Round 2, I'm a believer.
In Vintage cube, sometimes just throwing a bunch of combos in with some tutors is very good.
They had Imp Seal, Pillage the Bog, and Wishclaw.
Then they had 2 one card combos in Doomsday and Tinker. That means 5/40 (1/8 or 12.5%) of their deck is a game winning combo.
So you'd expect to see one of those in any hand of 7 most of the time. Then 2 draw sevens to round it off.
Not to mention the fast mana and Thoughtseize.
While it looks unfocused, it's actually really solid.
Only thing this draft was missing was some raincoats.
For the Storm of filth?
Wow, when I first saw the time, I was not sure how it would go. After the 1st game, I was like WOW, and it was wow through all the games.
Some folks say Magic is a science, but BK and LSV just made art.

This draft showed something important: The goal of these feeders is not to maximize your win percentage, it is to maximize the number of decks you have that go 3-0. They are not the same thing, extremely high variance, slightly negative win EV picks like tendrils over savannah are optimal in this format.
Naw. There was a breach/brain freeze storm deck LSV had like half a year ago that won on turn 3 all 6 games he played. This was very close to that one though.
the combos he had in the last one is also worthy of consideration

When these two have to get out a pad and paper to figure out the plays, the deck is probably above the average player's level.
This was one of the greatest decks I’ve ever seen on this channel, amazing how it all came together after all the speculation picks.

f me, this looked like a yolo draft for the first two packs... then total video length of 1:12, surely this is an 0-1 drop, right?
Man seeing an hour long video made me worried, but every time you just killed your opponent with this deck I could not stop laughing every time. Easily my favorite video you have made so far this is the kind of deck you love to see win after a ridiculous draft that seemed like it might not be able to get there.
The sheer joy of this draft was infectious! Loved it.

Absolutely fantastic, it's so good when the combo doesn't seem to be working out and is looking more like cobbled-together jank during the draft and then it all comes together in the end. Masterfully drafted and played.
BK really saved the draft. Pivoted out of the Sneak plan with LSV trying to get him to stick to it. Great Job!!
To me it honestly feels like LSV is the better player particulary of decks like this but BK is the better drafter atleast of recent
@@caleteevan2011 I make a lot of comments being honest about LSV and I just get constantly mocked. You get thumbs up... Lsv is incredibly good at playing the game, seeing weird synergies, deciding to mulligan, calling bluffs, anticipating spells... basically everything about actually playing the game but when it comes to drafting- he just wasn't hitting like he use to.
@@Seldomheardabout Yeah, I think he often plays it too safe, while drafting or sometimes makes weird pivots, when he already has like half of a good deck of one type, but then sees a "signal" and throws his old plan overboard for one card. Pivoting can obviously be good, if you get a strong signal, but sometimes other players don't take a good card central to a certain type of deck, because there are no other good cards for that type of deck going around, so you should actually stay clear from it as well
Luis' recent cold streak has more to do with variance than anything else. Just look at his draft pools and what he had drawn. That said,
one thing that has hurt Luis recently is that he recognized that combo isn't as good in the current meta and he's drafting it less, which is correct for the average drafter. However, he plays it so much better than the average drafter that he should value it higher. He is an expert control/ combo player, and drafting to that strength is probably right more often than he realizes.

Last draft best draft!! I was NOT optimistic when I saw it was 1:12. Especially after seeing that draft, I figured we'd be getting the boot after a long first round where we never got to do anything meaningful. Instead, it was just fast combo EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Well drafted, way to play to your outs, and congrats guys! Can't wait for the followup!

You are correct! I looked at the video length and assumed it was a grindy 0-1 or a quick 1-1, never expected the clean sweep 3-0, 6-0. What an insane deck and some absolutely wild moments with cards on top after citadel cast/tinkered.

This is the most filthy citadeling ive ever seen, and probably the best cube draft as well, considering the two drafters and what was at stake. Hope BK goes to vegas for sure! Super excited, i thought they got trashed and they just casually 3-0 with 3 and 4 turn kills. Bananas!

Honestly I think that this version of the MTGO cube is quite swingy in terms of luck/what you open so no hard feelings about not doing well tbh.
Yea, I've felt similar - especially with the format of needing to be the one to 4-0 everything. It feels to reward a streak of big opens over consistent results over a period of time.
@@bricelory9534 You just have to watch LSV's uploads for the 64 player drafts, he opens below average power in every draft and normally loses in the 2nd round to a deck with 2 or 3 pieces of power. If you compare it to the team drafts with LSV's cube he usually 2-1s and that's with very strong opponents.
@@MnemonicNex yep, exactly this. I mean, I know you can't really do a fair version of a tournament's preliminary rounds, but this format felt very lottery-based.
Yeah, the biggest issue is that there's a lot of trash cards floating around so there's a good chance you just end up on the wrong side of the table/opens.
Second biggest issue is that these more normal-skilled players have extremely strange draft habits, making it really difficult to find a lane. Funnily enough, this draft was a great example of that but it totally worked out thanks to some positive variance on these draws.
All the winning runs I've seen are people opening like crazy or having some linear strat like mono R prey upon clunky draws from opponents.
Its vintage cube it's always going to be super swingy. I mean look at their first round opponent, Reynad it looked like they have a great version of boros which is a top tier deck and they barely got to play the game.
This is the sickest deck that's been on this channel for a while! 😮
