I can't believe you did that in one hit! lol I was thinking you were going to anneal it first. this took the mystery out of domed metal with texture. thanks!
padali29 The domes that I used in the video were pre-annealed. So, they were soft enough for me to work with easily. You can easily texture and form an item with one annealing. Glad that I could take some of the mystery out of working with textured material for you. Thanks for watching! : )
Lovely textures. I was wondering about the difference between metal and wooden dapping blocks and your demonstration showed which to use and how easy it is to give dimension. Thank you. :)
Question if anyone can answer!: If I were making textured beads, how would I remove the seam without removing the texture after soldering two domes together?
Pls help me with the procedure on how to give polish after the finish . I do buffing and pack it in plastic but in few hours the color tarnishes . Pls advise
Copper loves to oxidize. If you clean a penny and place it on the hot dashboard of your car, it will turn from pink to brown in one day. If you want to preserve a bright copper finish you need to seal it. You can use bees wax, shellac, lacquer, spray fixative, etc. But, if you seal in any finger prints, they will show up in a few days. And, you'll have to clean the piece and do it all over again. I personally don't seal my copper pieces anymore. I just embrace the nature of the metal and enjoy the colors. : )
The OJA only focuses on metal working techniques. But, I'm sure that you can find a RUclips channel that can provide you with the woodworking information that you desire. : )
Excellent. Now I know why wooden dapping blocks exist. Textures are fun to make!
Glad you learned something from the video. Thanks for watching! 😀

Should I anneal the textured piece first?
Lauren Youngs Yes, the textured piece should be reannealed before doming. 🙂
OnlineJewelryAcademy Thank you so much so you would need to look before you texture it? Also?
Sorry voice text so you anneal before you texture too?
Lauren Youngs Yes. Anneal before texture and forming. 🙂
OnlineJewelryAcademy Thank you very much
