0:08 - wah, the dorms of School for Evil really look good (ironic, hah) here! In the book there was only description of everything burned, torn and ruined in the room, as well as in the school itself, and i found it really dissapointing. I wanted to see Evil having its own, dark beauty, gothic atmosphere. And look, they're finally giving us that in the movie! Gothic wallpapers, canopy bed with blood red curtains, and just look at that Baroque headboard! Fabulous! Now THAT'S Evil! Also, it's hard to look away from the window: its design are really interesting and unique, like it's made out of spider web or something sticky.
The reason it was so dull et the beginning in the books was because it needed contrast for when Sophie made evil new again and redefines it so that you can kill and be beautiful at the same time, if it would have been pretty from the beginning in the books then there wouldn't be anything for her to change
@@johannalietar9462 it was one of the conclusions i came to as well, but it still was so... ridiculous. I mean, who could ever like to live in a place like that? What about Evil who are royalty or aristocracy, can you imagine them liking to live in a dirty, cold and half-destroyed barn with gruel for food and rags for clothes? I'm talking about how silly it is to associate Evil with poor living conditions that can be only associated with extreme poverty. And can you just imajine how that place was created? How they purposefully burned, broke and torn everything? Made sure that food was as awful as possible and served as something made for pigs? It even sounds ridiculous. I just can't take it seriously (also, why female teachers of Evil wore pretty good-looking dresses and heels, but female students should wear rags? If Evil must look awful - it must be about ALL the Evil) If the only way to make Sophie's work look impactful was to make previous living conditions unnecessary and ridiculously horrible for no reason - then it's just a bad writing. Sophie could improve other things, like, i don't know, getting rid of the room where children get TORTURED? It's not necessary to change the whole school to make an impactful change: giving Nevers their own ball, their own Groom Room, all of which Sophie did, that all was already a very good changes that would improve the life of Evil. Changing the metods of teaching to not be as harsh and abusive as it is, working on Nevers self-esteem. Again, getting rid of the torture room. Helping Evil to be confident and proud, not constantly afraid of horrible punishments, and being Evil out of free will and not because they hardened from how horrible they are treated, that will change incredibly much, and may even help Evil to win more often. If we dig in deeply, there's a lot of things to change and improve in the School for Evil, and visual image and living conditions of that place shouldn't be awful to give Sophie a material to work with.

'Let me help,'he said, taking Sophie in his arms. 'No-" Sophie wheezed -'Agatha.' Speechless, Tedros left her to his princess's arms. Agatha pressed Sophie to her chest, hands soaked with her blood. 'Your safe now', Agatha said softly. 'I don't- want to- be Evil,' Sophie panted through sobs. 'You're not evil Sophie', Agatha whispered, touching her decayed cheek. 'Your human.' Sophie smiled weakly. 'Only if I have you.' Her eyes flickered with life. 'No- not yet-' Sophie struggled- 'Sophie! Sophie, please!' Agatha choked. 'Agatha-' Sophie exhaled her last breath. 'I love you.' 'Wait!' Agatha screamed. Icy wind shuffled the last of the torches and the blacked Good castle vanished behind the dark fog. Sobing, shaking, Agatha kissed Sophie's cold lips."
