      Manny, thank you for the compliment. These kids are hilarious and very energizing to be around. My son is lucky to have such awesome friends.
      Usually you wanna cut the seedling about 5 inches up from the seed but in this vid I was having the boys pick a spot to cut the seedling where the diameter matched the cuttings we took. The higher up the seedling you graft the more you gotta prune rootstock growth below the graft.

My friend grew a seedling also and he gave the tree to one of his family friends members. He says the guy put it in the ground and after 6 years the tree started to produce massive fruits. So I'm trying to get a cutting from that tree but the guy is never at home lol..but thanks for your advice.

    Do they cross pollinate being close to each other?

    • @SleepyLizard
      @SleepyLizard  Год назад +1

      Yes, they cross pollinate. Avocados like humans are heterozygous which means that every seed is unique and carries multiple copies of the genetics from its parents and grandparents, etc..
      Don’t worry, somebody’s gonna see this comment, tell me I’m wrong, and go into an overly complicated description that none of us will understand.

    • @dennislong7852
      @dennislong7852 Год назад +1

    • @SleepyLizard
      @SleepyLizard  Год назад +1

      @@dennislong7852 Dennis, avocados trees can self pollinate but it's better to have multiple trees near each other with at least one of flowering type A and one of flowering type B.
