Cricket truly is a game of science. The soil science that goes into creating the pitch The physics of the ball: swing, spin, seam movement The chemistry involved in designing proper cricket bats and balls Since you are a former science teacher, it must be great to see applications of science in a game you love!
Always interesting watching pitches get renovated, they did a full resurface of one of the main pitches where I live, saw every bit of it, so much work goes into it 💪💪
Excellent video Gareth. It's always nice to see what goes on behind the scenes. When it comes to next April/May and there's a cracking wicket on show, this video shows why!
It would seem to me that Woodhall Spa put more effort into their pitch maintenance than some test venues. This is the secret of a pitch's longevity. Neglect produces a "low slow" track which kills the standard of cricket. Well done to Simon and his team.
Before I thought making pitch is just simple. But in reality and actually it takes lots of efforts, time, patience and skills.thanks to make informative video about it.
Man this was something to see, we also village cricketers and never have i ever seen something like this done, wish our pitch could get some treatment like this someday
It's from players yearly subs / match fees, a decent chunk from bar venue, and then hiring the pavilion for events and such can be a good boost of income
Wow, Amazing, Learnt something new today. Good to see how the groundsmen work. Do keep us updated on how the pitch looks, maybe every 3-4 days. Cheers.
Top vid Gareth, as a matter of interest what was the price. We have similar work done in Leicester, though not as thorough. May be interested for next season work. Keep those vids coming mate, go well.
Hey..Gareth. Just want to know what's the process behind it during the winter..specially when snow comes down..is the whole area of the square gets covered before any snow falls?😀
As a fellow south african i absolutely love this channel representing all those south africans love it!

It’s actually really interesting when you see how much effort is put in to a pitch for it to run through next season.

Thanks Dan. Yes it was a really interesting day. I definitely didn't realise how much effort goes on behind the scenes 👍

New to the channel. I've really been enjoying it. Can you tell me where clubs like Woodhall Spa get their money from?

No just leave it to the elements 👍
@@canyoucricket Ha..interesting mate..😎since we don't have a winter, I was bit vague on that..😁

Wish we had more clay pitches in Florida. Everything turning into artificial. Guess they worrying about the maintenance.
Is there a good amount of cricket in Florida?
@@canyoucricket Yes there is but mostly white ball cricket. We play all year with little breaks in between. We mostly do 30 overs and T20s.
Very nice. Maybe worth a trip to the states? 🔥
@@canyoucricket Yea for sure, lots of cricket here. I just got back into playing and i just found out they are in majority of the states.
Amazing 🔥
