Hello, pardon me for the intrusion, since your question hasn't been answered for a while and i, myself am a woman from India so I thought I'd feed your curiosity. India is a diverse country with multitudes of religions, cultures, language and ways of life. You'll find different people in the North, South, East and West of India, each with their own cultural and religious practices which govern their ways of life. Some conservative and highly patriarchal, some not. Women being subjected to oppression do exist but I cannot be specific where, I believe the more conservative and patriarchal your society is, the more hindrance to women. But since I come from the Northeast I can assure that being a woman hasn't been a hindrance to my growth and well being. Here, we enjoy our rights and freedom. We aren't a perfect society but we do our best to regard both men and women equally and coexist peacefully.
