David Wise has said in interviews that he was inspired by Iron Maiden for this song, so this very well could be a version that was playing in his head when writing it.
That’s sick. Maiden was the inspiration for so many video game soundtracks that helped shape/warp my musical tastes from that point on. When I finally migrated out from under a rock and started listening them to them in my 20s, it was the musical equivalent of running into a parent or grandparent that you never knew existed, but you look and act exactly like.
Just beat Donkey Kong Country for the first time in years and during the final boss fight, I had the thought that the level soundtrack was a perfect candidate for a metal cover. You sir, did not disappoint. Such an amazing cover!
He's really really good at capturing how the songs FELT when playing them as a kid on the original system there's a sense of tension almost as if he's remembering the experience
I always love listening to your music on car trips, on walks, or just wherever. Can’t wait for this to go up on Apple Music and Spotify so I can listen over and over again. Keep it up!
Spotify especially, I wanna listen to his content uninterrupted, back to back and also be able to add his music to playlists, but can't on RUclips. It's alright though, definetely getting more out of this then I would without it!
So many metal covers on youtube I'm like "fff this starts out all sweet and melodic, then goes way too heavy" This song actually DOES that deliberately, so it was perfectly suited, aaand this performance actually retained some excellent purity throughout, so goood job.
Holy damn, i knew you were making a cover but you didnt need to give me a heart attack like that lol major chills man In all seriousness, im so happy you made this, the donkey kong country games are some of my favourite in the series
Allot of modern metal are just shitty chugga chugga bands. Probably partially why. There are still some modern bands that prioritize melody and hooks like these songs.
I listen to different versions of this song all the time but this is far better than those and is now objectively the best version of this song well done Jack we don't deserve you and you are a blessing on this earth
Being a super snes fanatic man, listening to the old tunes like this really hit home with me and it's a really big reason why I love your work so much, kudos on another absolute banger of a track and I can't get enough of your tunes, keep em coming like the mad man you are. Can't get enough of this greatness lemme tell ya what, cheers!
How on earth did I miss this one?! This is one of my favorite DK pieces! Thank you! I'm sorry for the late comments by the way. I needed a break from music for a while and had a bunch of stuff to work on. I've got some catching up on listening and buying your music to do!
Hell yeah dude!! This is another one of your masterpieces!! I wonder how the strings of your guitar can hold up so easily, cus you are simply shredding each of em!! Keep the cool stuff up Brother!!
Holy firey licks Batman! This went directly into my playlist called TXE. DKC was just a blast for me and this particular track made my socks spin back then while dodging all those cannonballs. Very good stuff good sir, thank you!
MY CHILDHOOD! I still have such fond memories of sitting around playing the DKC trilogy on SNES, and I distinctly recall the first time I saw my older sister get to K. Rool, and the fake-out ending. I jumped so bad when he got back up, and it's hilarious in hindsight. Really cool to hear the pit-opener doing a metal cover of one of my favorite songs from the DKC trilogy!
The first time I ever heard this song was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And honestly, I somehow ran into it so much that I felt like it was overplayed, and I ended up actually not liking it. I think Jack sensed that and decided it was time to set me straight. Thanks dude, this cover is freaking awesome \m/
Love seeing you work on new arrangements on Twitch, can't wait for the next one! I also hope you put this on Amazon Music. I listen to your stuff all the time, you never fail to impress!!
this might have been the song that nailed Metal into my childhood. I was already a big fan of Mega Man x for its rock tracks even as Midi i could tell they were excellent rock. I remember playing Donky Kong and just loving the music, but then when this fight with k rool and the syke out ending... man this song blew 8 year old me away. And soon after the boss theme from Yoshis Island would again blow me away.
Your in my regularly listen to artists. Like I get in mood to listen to you along side acts like hatebreed, carcosa, rush, to me your not a RUclips guy. I love your work thank you
Ah yisss, one of my fav SNES VGM sources, "Bury My Peel at Wounded Barrel". Never bring a train heist scene to the big bad's pirate ship. _(Unless ofc the music slaps, in which case carry on, my time-traveling Kongs!)_
The part where you have that break where you chug a bit on each of the chords in the progression gave me a huge flashback to one of my old band's songs. Really did not expect that. Awesome cover of one of the coolest DK Country 1 songs! What if you had a fakeout ending though? XD
David Wise has said in interviews that he was inspired by Iron Maiden for this song, so this very well could be a version that was playing in his head when writing it.
Suddenly my appreciation for Gang Plank Galleon makes much more sense
Tbh i always knew this Even if he never confirmed it, it is there, who else he would get inspired?
I always knew this song was metal.
Makes sense. That beat reminds me of Flight of the Icarus and Fear of the Dark.

Good thing Vishera credits his music sources!
I know right. Oh how slightly frustrated I get when a RUclipsr doesn't list the song credits, especially to a banger

Absolutely sick cover. I'm honestly not a huge Metal fan in general but really enjoy your take on classics man. Awesome stuff.
Allot of modern metal are just shitty chugga chugga bands. Probably partially why. There are still some modern bands that prioritize melody and hooks like these songs.
Cant stop smashing my kongas. This one is up there with the best remixes.
I listen to different versions of this song all the time but this is far better than those and is now objectively the best version of this song well done Jack we don't deserve you and you are a blessing on this earth
Somewhere, somehow, these SNES songs got imprinted on my soul. Glad to see I'm not the only one.
This is a straight fire remix of this song
I often go through retro game tracks and after listening, I always find myself typing "game song toxiceternity" xD thanks for the dope covers man
Lol, I'm 40 and I can tell yall are about my age, because you thrash to the music of my childhood.
Hallowed be thy GANG. Absolutely incredible solo section on this one
I was just playing DKC last night on Switch 64 Online!
I absolutely appreciate the fact that you dedicate so much effort to the DKC soundtracks
am i the only one that thinks the section starting at 2:08 in the vid sounds like domination by pantera
Being a super snes fanatic man, listening to

Saw you premire this live on Twitch during Colosseum. So happy I can listen to it whenever now!
How on earth did I miss this one?! This is one of my favorite DK pieces! Thank you! I'm sorry for the late comments by the way. I needed a break from music for a while and had a bunch of stuff to work on. I've got some catching up on listening and buying your music to do!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! MOAR DKC MUSICS!!!!
This was just waiting to get covered by you. Happy to see it's real now!

Always great to have you upload a new one just when i look you up ;)
The first time I ever heard this song was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And honestly, I somehow ran into it so much that I felt like it was overplayed, and I ended up actually not liking it.

That E-II is gorgeous😍🔥🔥🔥

The part where you have that break where you chug a bit on each of the chords in the progression gave me a huge flashback to one of my old band's songs. Really did not expect that.
Awesome cover of one of the coolest DK Country 1 songs! What if you had a fakeout ending though? XD
So good!
Cranky would approve. He was in his prime during the 80s so he should have a taste for metal.
MARAVILHOSO!
Hells fucking yeah
Such cwispy wiffs 🤌😩🤘
Wow man. Incredible. Really impressive, clean sweeps. What program do you use for your drum tracks?
Thank you! I use Superior Drummer 2 with the Metal Machine samples
@@ToxicxEternity Awesome. Much respect, brother. I’m a nostalgic metal head- loving the content!
Lufia 2, Final Fantasy X, etc
Excellent.
Metal fit perfectly to this song as a banana's sleeve does on a banana. My second favorite DKC1 song just after aquatic ambience one.
OPEN UP THIS BANANA HOARD!!!
F ing amazing
