I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I think this is different to most derbies in that it’s not just territory or catholic/protestant etc, it’s a lot deeper than that. St Pauli are the most inclusive club in the world imo, they’re exceptional and showing respect for everyone regardless of anything that may be different about them. For any team or person to dislike St Pauli as a club, speaks a tonne about them as a person. St Pauli are more than a football team, I’d even probably go as far as saying football comes second for the most part. HSV, Hansa Rostock and Dynamo Dresden aren’t doing themselves any favours by going against St Pauli. It’s all good though because from my experience nearly every German football fan has a soft spot for them. Edit: fixed typo.
Jonathan G you’re lucky 😝 I’m a huge St Pauli fan from Dublin. I absolutely love Hamburg though. It’s my favourite place to visit - for St. Pauli and everything else. The people are so nice and it’s easy to understand them when we’re speaking German(compared to Bavarians anyway).
