Purchase discounts on your raw materials purchases should be deducted to your gross amount of raw materials purchases to arrive at net purchases. Net purchases are the ones to be added to the beginning balance of raw materials inventory to arrive at raw material available for use. When you then deduct raw materials ending, you'll arrive at materials used.
