Black Phantom is amazing on men and women both. But I mean i love gourmand and coffee in general with fragrances but it’s kind of annoying seeing someone be almost snobby about a fragrance that you know is so high quality and delicious smelling. Dark lord is my best fragrance in my collection. i have 33 years old and i live in east of France, in blue mountains in "Vosges". I wear it in winter pincipally , with black dress code, black leather coat and shoes, by night. I smell like dracula and i love it. I'm gonna refill my bottle soon... A masterpiece. But not for rookie nose. You have to be mysterious guy and very dark to wear this. i really really love it !!!! My best..

I can't see any dark or rich fragrances being perceived very well at all in California because you don't have the weather for it. For leather or gourmands to really shine the temperature needs to drop below 50 degrees, and it never really does there.
Stupid question but why is that so important? I know you can choke a person out more easily in the heat but does it really change scent profile so much?
these frags are for people that want to smell unique. after you have been long enough into the perfume game you will appreciate scents like black phantom way more. they stick out of the crowds of basic designer frags. and if you are cool you can rock any :) just need to like it yourself!
I really like Black Phantom. The rum/coffee/sugar cane is all me. It smells different on skin than a test strip. It smooths out and gets creamy after 40min.
I think they should do paper and skin tests of these as the fragrance in most cases will smell different on skin than on paper and different on each persons skin. It would give a better representation of how it smells on the people reviewing rather than just the paper.
Great comparison video. I would like make a suggestion/constructive criticism and that is when you give the card to smell don’t touch the side you sprayed. Stop playing with it/slapping your hand with it. The oils from your skin will effect the scent. Dramatically in some scents more than others. Just a tip is all. Although I find Alberto Morillas' creation of Dark Lord admirable for being an extremely smoky pepper fragrance, I immediately desired contrasting accords at the center of it when receiving a sample last year. I thought of having something fruitfully sweet and delicate to work with the texture of the smoke, essentially.. Otherwise, it may as well be called "Hellfire and Brimstone." This isn't actually an insult, it's just "that" intense to me. On the few occasions that I've worn Dark Lord (including today, which is how I found this segment), I layered it with other fragrances that I had on hand at the time. Namely, Guerlain's L’Homme Ideal, Penhaligon's Impudent Cousin Matthew, and even Baccarat Rouge 540 by MFK. I think that either Creed's Original Santal or Virgin Island Water could be interesting as well, as I symbolically see it as taking a vibrantly joyful subject matter and processing it through a grayscale filter resembling Film Noir; meaning, there's an image of something paradisiacal that's presented through a murky production with scratches, depth and weathering from age. On its own, though, I see Dark Lord as more of an imaginative production for an individual to appreciate as an art piece, rather than one to garner mass appeal through - unless, of course, you're on the set of a 60's horror film featuring a human sacrifice by morose characters chanting by torches in druid cloaks. Still, it's all subjective. Thanks for the fragrance review!

We did do an affordable fragrance video earlier this year. Probably not going to go out of the way to get those as we won’t wear them. Curve we rocked until our bottle ran out though. Smells like Mont Blanc Legend

This is a poor review in my opinion as smelling this on skin, your own skin, is completely different, from my experience than just smelling it on paper. On paper it smells like a chocolate liqueur truffle. On my skin it was far more interesting and a real compliment getter, possibly one of the most complimented scents I have worn in winter the only others that I have received consistently compliments at the same level are Xerjoff Naxos, VR Spicebomb extreme. I would if you haven’t yet, try on skin before dismissing based on this video

@@edgroves2051 testing in neutral gives the most realistic. As it could smell better on me, but absolutely terrible on you. And then it could smell the same on someone else. Neutral test. Also when we film videos we are testing multiple fragrances so it’s not realistic to spray on skin. Anyways I’m done arguing on this one. Not every fragrance will be liked by women unfortunately. Though many will be.

I don’t like dark lord but I’m so obsessed with Kilian. It’s one of my favorite niche houses. I own almost all of the scented lipsticks so I’m just highly annoyed by these women spreading ignorant false information. Niche isn’t for women who literally only use Victoria secret and bath and body works scents. With niche less is more but also they have cheap noses so they really shouldn’t be the ones giving opinions to the masses who genuinely want advice on which Kilian fragrance to get. Please never choose women who know nothing about good fragrances to smell and give their advice. This was a mess.

@keishablake6930 dude, lol come on now I'm not even discounting the objective veracity of that *in a specific objective artistic sense* in fact Dark Lord is itself a masterpiece (as is most of Morillas' stuff like Man in Black, I'm noticing this larger amount of my favourites is done by Morillas like Blessed Baraka, he seems to have this intense, musky, leather and wood boozy kind of signature I can't explain) but however much this may be true--the average man or woman isn't going to be some bougie niche adoring snob like you or me, and therefore it's redundant or irrelevant to opine about it when we've got the average ass girls reacting and who, quite frankly, all gave rather consistent and precise responses. Which to me is funny as fuck because before I watched this I decided that Dark Lord smells to me like if Darth Vader, Dracula, and Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies all got together and had a raw gay sex orgy on somebody's old dorm common space couch. And Dark Lord is this couch. Then I watched them all proceed to mention a couch and lol'd. I'm sorry dude but it just does, it smells like a musty old black leather couch used to do unspeakably homosexually explicit acts on it. It's an oddly really sexual fragrance to me and I'm not sure why, but it also smells like literally manure on my skin. It smells like horse stables. And masterpiece or not, that's exactly how everyone's going to perceive you when walking into a room with this, and that's why designers are so popular, because half the point to a cologne or perfume is smelling good, and designers usually just smell really good. Those niche and high ends, by contrast, often veer into such snobbish or experimental territory as to be borderline unwearable, and freaking $300 per 50ml (that's literally a $600 standard 3.4oz for Kilian's DL which is outrageous) for something for me to just sit there on my couch smelling myself, only to smell like my couch itself alone by myself, is a bit much. But then again, I suppose that literally nobody is even going to hear about shit like Dark Lord unless they are already several layers down the fragrance iceberg. Which is still a common house though tbh, I feel like Amouage is among the last pit stops before true obscure hipster level fragrances, and it's the same with them, Iris Interlude was freaking godawful to me. Lots of stuff that costs $300 a bottle often indeed doesn't actually smell "better" regardless the amount of artistry, and it's a fair point to be having these random women also giving their own views for an idea on what the everyman is experiencing, not some hipster who's going to just gaslight us into believing some niche or some obscure Arab clone is amazing when in fact after macerating it still doesn't smell good at all, only "interesting" at best, and synthetic af. I think it's also obscene highway robbery that some of these ultra high end or even designers don't even last, like the way YSL frags disappear is practically a scam (I've had actual counterfeits and ebay fakes last almost as long as La Nuit de L'Homme does on my skin) but to have some $200+ one that then disappears in 4 hours is outrageous too, and while Dark Lord is itself an artistic expression, it is olfactive True Art, I think that so much of the time it basically just becomes a douchebag marketing ploy to ensnare yuppies calling some utterly middling fragrance some shit like "Fucking Fabulous" or whatever and then just have the most basic, banal shit ever that's all being done by marketing and hype, and/or by celebrities. Like would anyone buy that shit if it wasn't attached to Antonio Banderas? If Banderas wasn't hot would anyone have bought it? I think that's an important point too, and go look up the Tommy Hilfiger keyboard and "gaming mouse" to see exactly what I mean about what's rotten in the designer industry.
This is a compliment test. To find out what fragrances what women prefer to actually smell on a guy. As guys do like different things than girls do. Not everyone likes the same fragrances and not all the ones people think are good are universally loved.

It needs to be on skin not on paper. It’s very important to skin test fragrances as they react differently on skin and smell different on depending on skin type. These videos smelling on paper is fruitless
Skin can be better, be worse, or be exactly the same. It’s also how the perfumers test. Roja Dove even did a post about it a while back. Paper is the most neutral version of the scent. This is a compliment test. If you are testing for yourself 100% test it on you if you like it to see how it does. Spraying it on me won’t be a good representation of any fragrance as it will smell different to me than on you. While paper will remain neutral. Testing in neutral
@@SoCalScents I know Roja dove did a post about this, however it is not how all perfumers test at all, some that I know of also skin test on multiple people of differing skin types/colours, they also listen to the feedback from people wearing it and others smelling it, this is particularly important for projection and longevity testing. I think that some people who are not aware that you are complimenting a scent purely on paper maybe mislead into blind buying a scent that could smell amazing on paper but dreadful on their skin or vice versa. I think you should do both a paper and a skin test to give an honest review with your guests.

If you had a variety of women that did dabble in expensive fragrances giving their opinions then it would make more sense. What’s the point of having someone shit on a brand that they would never purchase from anyways because it’s just clearly not their style. This is a poor review in my opinion as smelling this on skin, your own skin, is completely different, from my experience than just smelling it on paper. On paper it smells like a chocolate liqueur truffle. On my skin it was far more interesting and a real compliment getter, possibly one of the most complimented scents I have worn in winter the only others that I have received consistently compliments at the same level are Xerjoff Naxos, VR Spicebomb extreme. I would if you haven’t yet, try on skin before dismissing based on this video

@@edgroves2051 testing in neutral gives the most realistic. As it could smell better on me, but absolutely terrible on you. And then it could smell the same on someone else. Neutral test. Also when we film videos we are testing multiple fragrances so it’s not realistic to spray on skin. Anyways I’m done arguing on this one. Not every fragrance will be liked by women unfortunately. Though many will be.

I don’t like dark lord but I’m so obsessed with Kilian. It’s one of my favorite niche houses. I own almost all of the scented lipsticks so I’m just highly annoyed by these women spreading ignorant false information. Niche isn’t for women who literally only use Victoria secret and bath and body works scents. With niche less is more but also they have cheap noses so they really shouldn’t be the ones giving opinions to the masses who genuinely want advice on which Kilian fragrance to get. Please never choose women who know nothing about good fragrances to smell and give their advice. This was a mess.

I'm not even discounting the objective veracity of that *in a specific objective artistic sense* in fact Dark Lord is itself a masterpiece (as is most of Morillas' stuff like Man in Black, I'm noticing this larger amount of my favourites is done by Morillas like Blessed Baraka, he seems to have this intense, musky, leather and wood boozy kind of signature I can't explain) but however much this may be true--the average man or woman isn't going to be some bougie niche adoring snob like you or me, and therefore it's redundant or irrelevant to opine about it when we've got the average ass girls reacting and who, quite frankly, all gave rather consistent and precise responses. Which to me is funny as fuck because before I watched this I decided that Dark Lord smells to me like if Darth Vader, Dracula, and Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies all got together and had a raw gay sex orgy on somebody's old dorm common space couch. And Dark Lord is this couch. Then I watched them all proceed to mention a couch and lol'd. I'm sorry dude but it just does, it smells like a musty old black leather couch used to do unspeakably homosexually explicit acts on it. It's an oddly really sexual fragrance to me and I'm not sure why, but it also smells like literally manure on my skin. It smells like horse stables. And masterpiece or not, that's exactly how everyone's going to perceive you when walking into a room with this, and that's why designers are so popular, because half the point to a cologne or perfume is smelling good, and designers usually just smell really good.
Those niche and high ends, by contrast, often veer into such snobbish or experimental territory as to be borderline unwearable, and freaking $300 per 50ml (that's literally a $600 standard 3.4oz for Kilian's DL which is outrageous) for something for me to just sit there on my couch smelling myself, only to smell like my couch itself alone by myself, is a bit much. But then again, I suppose that literally nobody is even going to hear about shit like Dark Lord unless they are already several layers down the fragrance iceberg. Which is still a common house though tbh, I feel like Amouage is among the last pit stops before true obscure hipster level fragrances, and it's the same with them, Iris Interlude was freaking godawful to me. Lots of stuff that costs $300 a bottle often indeed doesn't actually smell "better" regardless the amount of artistry, and it's a fair point to be having these random women also giving their own views for an idea on what the everyman is experiencing, not some hipster who's going to just gaslight us into believing some niche or some obscure Arab clone is amazing when in fact after macerating it still doesn't smell good at all, only "interesting" at best, and synthetic af. I think it's also obscene highway robbery that some of these ultra high end or even designers don't even last, like the way YSL frags disappear is practically a scam (I've had actual counterfeits and ebay fakes last almost as long as La Nuit de L'Homme does on my skin) but to have some $200+ one that then disappears in 4 hours is outrageous too, and while Dark Lord is itself an artistic expression, it is olfactive True Art, I think that so much of the time it basically just becomes a douchebag marketing ploy to ensnare yuppies calling some utterly middling fragrance some shit like "Fucking Fabulous" or whatever and then just have the most basic, banal shit ever that's all being done by marketing and hype, and/or by celebrities. Like would anyone buy that shit if it wasn't attached to Antonio Banderas? If Banderas wasn't hot would anyone have bought it? I think that's an important point too, and go look up the Tommy Hilfiger keyboard and "gaming mouse" to see exactly what I mean about what's rotten in the designer industry.

This is a compliment test. To find out what fragrances what women prefer to actually smell on a guy. As guys do like different things than girls do. Not everyone likes the same fragrances and not all the ones people think are good are universally loved.

It needs to be on skin not on paper. It’s very important to skin test fragrances as they react differently on skin and smell different on depending on skin type. These videos smelling on paper is fruitless
Skin can be better, be worse, or be exactly the same. It’s also how the perfumers test. Roja Dove even did a post about it a while back. Paper is the most neutral version of the scent. This is a compliment test. If you are testing for yourself 100% test it on you if you like it to see how it does. Spraying it on me won’t be a good representation of any fragrance as it will smell different to me than on you. While paper will remain neutral. Testing in neutral
@@SoCalScents I know Roja dove did a post about this, however it is not how all perfumers test at all, some that I know of also skin test on multiple people of differing skin types/colours, they also listen to the feedback from people wearing it and others smelling it, this is particularly important for projection and longevity testing. I think that some people who are not aware that you are complimenting a scent purely on paper maybe mislead into blind buying a scent that could smell amazing on paper but dreadful on their skin or vice versa. I think you should do both a paper and a skin test to give an honest review with your guests.

That’s like having someone review vintage wine when they are used to nothing but white claws. If I didn’t already love Kilian and black phantom then I would get absolutely nothing from listening to those women turn their noses up at the brand. If you had a variety of women that did dabble in expensive fragrances giving their opinions then it would make more sense. What’s the point of having someone shit on a brand that they would never purchase from anyways because it’s just clearly not their style. I’m allowed to say that this video wasn’t helpful to fragrance lovers with huge collections because those girls were basically all the same and it just wasn’t their lane.
