When I was a child, my father and I used to watch Malcolm Douglas cooking in the bush and off the coast of Australia on the TV. Your videos are like a Welsh version of that and I really enjoy watching them. Keep up the good work! Cheers
You are so fortunate to live where you do, Craig. Thanks for sharing with those of us who will never get to experience your shore foraging. It looks wonderful. Thank you for going out in a gathering gale to provide this information for us.
Yes we are very fortunate have this environment here in Wales UK,thank you for your comment, there are more videos on my channel and a new video will be published nest week, regards Craig
One of the best RUclips channels. Thanks for the consistently excellent content. Always a pleasure to see new videos! An inspiration to continue my foraging adventures.
Every time I see one of your videos I get more and more motivated to learn what I can , I was recently diagnosed with celiacs, so I watch these to try and learn so I don't have to rely so much on the store bought expensive things. Thank you for helping me learn more and more about nature. Never stop doing what makes you happy :)
What a great comment, thank you Foxflame 1014,I'm sorry you celiacs, but I would take advice from a medical professional before relying on locally foraged items for your condition. Many more videos planned, kind regards Craig
Recently discovered your channel & binge watched all of the videos. I find them oddly soothing, besides being massively informative. I hope your channel is around for a long time.
Thank you Lorena I'm glad you like them, watch out for another video I will publish by next weekend-about releasing pregnant lobsters back into the wild, regards Craig
Found your channel today, and has quickly become a new favourite! Every video I learn something new, especially the foraging at the coast! Used to love going off to foraging in the rock pools with my brothers for cool critters and potential snacks, brings back memories!

Its so obvious you really enjoy what you are doing can't wait to watch you and Llew on more adventures! Keep up the amazing work
When I was a child I watched a movie called : Robinson Crusoe On Mars. He gets stuck on Mars and ends up foraging and made Martian Stew. Ever since then I love survival stuff. Watching your videos reminds me of that movie. I love your videos thank you for sharing everything looks good : )
I would like to give a negative comment about how your video isn't enough for your audiences... 😉😉😉 because we need more of your videos, cause we love it! Take care always sir!!
Awesome, Excellent educational video. Foraging seafood from ocean-Saslt water bodies can truly be a " Horn of Plenty". Even from Fresh Water bodies as well. Indentificatiin, discernment and Foraging for seafood is important survival task to know, such skills will give people skills to sustain their lives when necessary. For many people Seafood is an excellent source of nourishment. Thank You Sir you sharing your knowledge.
Loving your videos Craig. You’re very knowledgeable and it’s great that you explain what you are catching. Wish we had somewhere to catch fresh seafood instead of the not so fresh store bought seafood. Also your dog always looks so happy to be out there with you! He must love being out on the beach
I was only thinking last night about you, I thought the weather may have been too cold for you to go out. Pleased to see another video tonight though, I was just about to go to bed but my little bell lit up! 12 minutes well spent, thanks Craig. Llew was well behaved today too, he must be growing up!
Thank you Maise, the weather wasn't too cold-I'm used to that,it was the gale that spoiled things .Llew is just about starting to settle down, regards Craig.
Yes Ceri , I caught it in Oxwich on Friday, unfortunately Kris wasn't there to film it ,I only had mobile footage. Dafydd and myself had it for tea yesterday along with 2 large edible crabs and American slipper limpets mmmm ,daddy x

Thank you for foraging at what must be a very challenging time of year, right? I already can't wait for the next...😊 The very best to you and yours!
Many thanks again d devries,we are lucky here in Wales to have such a relatively mild climate, there is always something to find to eat.As I state in my written introduction,I caught an octopus the following day- a clip will appear in a future video ! regards Craig
I love the smell of gorse flowers, when i was a boy during the summer my family used to go to Rhossili and walk along the cliff tops and the smell of the gorse would be so strong you could smell it from quite a distance, whenever i smell gorse flowers now it reminds me of Rhossili
Hello! Great video like always. I always learn something new with each video! I also love the parts where you eat and enjoy what you catch. I’m really interested in that fire technique you use with the log. Can you make a short video on it? It would be really helpful! Thanks and keep it up!
I live on the north east coast of Kent and often forage for oysters, cockles and mussles. I would love to learn more about what veggies are edible along the coast. I will be looking out for sea beats next time:)
I love the smell of gorse flowers! Almost tropical. I've never thought of eating them in salads or cooking or whatever though. Intriguing. Pennywort sounds delicious too. I look forward to coming across some at some point. Well done for getting out on such a challenging sounding day :) Much love, Hannah x
Hi Hannah,if you gather enough flowers,I mean a good pint. Put ! drop of vanilla essence on top 6 teaspoons of sugar and pour on a pint of boiling water, leave to steep for at least 10 minutes,----delicious and thirst quenching, regards Craig
Coastal Foraging With Craig Evans Good grief, that sounds amazing! Makes me think of all the delicious elderflowery delights that will be here in a few months 😍 Luckily you can pretty much always find gorse flowers - "kissing's in season when gorse is in bloom" 😘
I found it very interesting to learn that scarlet Elf Cup was a wood eating fungus. Many of them around here are inedible or taste of wood. I live in Texas and you may be surprised to know that it grows like wildfire over here. Originally from ornamental ponds, it grew into creeks and ponds like mad. Good to know that it may be edible. Depending on water quality of course.
Hi RaeSyngKane,Scarlet Elf Caps/Cups are not the most delicious fungus, but add interest and colour to a foraged meal. I would strongly recommend that you positively identify your fungus species before you attempt to eat them, regards Craig
Hi Craig, love your videos! Please would you do a video on which coastal crab are edible and how to identify them? Are there any that are no no to forage for. Again on mushrooms too please. I look forward to finally getting my question answered, I have looked online and found very little info. Thanks Dave
Thank you Dave, great idea to make video just on crabs and showing all the species that occur locally. They are all edible subject to minimum size limits. I am not a mushroom expert ,but I do know to identify a few, because of this I do not feel confident in producing a mushroom video. Kind regards Craig
I love your channel. And that looks delicious!!! I want to do this, but I'm far from the sea. I live in the cold regions of Himalayas. We just have 1 river running through the town. :(
I really appreciate you translating this for me Camilo, perhaps you could translate my reply to Evanilda,it is-Many thanks and I hope you will learn more from my future videos,-kind regards to you both,Craig.
Thanks for braving the cold and windy conditions to make another great foraging video. I notice you always add a bit of your roasted lobster shell powder to your cooking. What does it tyaste like and what does it do to the dish? Cheers.
You are welcome ,again Chris,it gives the stock a great depth of flavour ,a little goes a long way as the flavour is very concentrated.A bit like concentrated shrimp paste I suppose, regards Craig
I love and I realy missed this kind of adventure, I was doing this when Im young and living in our province near the sea, the thing I could do is catch diffirent kind of like that sea foods then I have boiling water then put ginger, and union, then followed the seafoods, then add tamarind fruit or powder to make sour the soup then when the seafood estimated cooked already I added vegetable leaves like sweet potato or kangkong to become more delicious..
