    I'm a hardcore New England Colonial relic and coin hunter, and spend most weekends on cellar holes in 6 or 7 recovery speed. Its fun and rewarding, great finds, but that intense detecting can REALLY burn you out. So I went to a meadow in town where they did fireworks for a time in the 70's and 80's today. I ran this coin shooting program and had a blast digging clad. What a fun change of pace haven't done that in years !!!!! Thanks (;

    I have a question for you, what would be your advice to me I have a EQ600 and thinking about upgrading to the 800 due to the fact I like the ability to have more adjustability. It worth the extra money and the loss I will take on the 600. I would have to sell it in order to upgrade.
    Thanks for you input.

      Check out this article I wrote comparing both machines. mentalmetaldetecting.com/minelab-equinox-600-vs-800-is-there-a-big-difference/ is a little dated and I think you get the 4 kHz now with the 600. I personally like the 800 but you really have to weigh what you get and its really up to you and what you want to do with the machine. Do I use all the extra features (rarely) but I do like having the ability to change up when I need to.

    Cool video. So that you know, about 5 years ago, my wife, I and my wiener dog, Noel saw Bigfoot for real. We were heading up to our cabin in lower Michigan going down old M55 heading out of Holton Lake, on our way to Westbranch. When Bigfoot ran across old M55 from left to right in front of my truck. He was huge. It was early evening. We saw him clear has a bell. We have been written up about the sighting by a famous explorer, Mr Phil Shaw. He made a video of us. It was a cool event.

    Thanks for taking us along on your hunt. Awesome video as usual. As Mr. D noted, the new edition has the same setup as the old book except it uses F2. Question: 1) Do you prefer the Sabisch "Cherry-picking" or the Mental metal "Coin sniffer program" better? 2) If you had more time at a permission that had a lot of trash, what would your preferred setup be? 3) What model digger are you using? Thanks!

    • @MentalMetal

      Both programs are very similar and when I stumbled upon this Cherry Picking Program I realized that it followed the same idea as my program but mine is slightly different but not by much. Of course I prefer mine :-). If you have more time, I would stay in Park 1 if I was looking for coins, pick 5 tones, sensitivity at 20-22, Iron BIAS = start at 0 and go up no higher than 4. Recovery speed start at 5 you might have to bump it to 6. I have a 31" T handle Lesche.

    Can u explain recovery speed and ground balance? I have mine on 5 or 6 but that's what I read to have it on. I also use the cherry picking option all the time but here in aus I'm only after 1 and 2$ coins so have mine at 21 and 22 and BTW I Just found ur Channel and have watched the ones on the nox and they are brilliant...

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  2 года назад

      Thank Brent. The higher you make the recovery speed the less depth you will get. If you don't have a lot of trash run the recovery speed as low as you can. The signals you hear will become a longer sound and to some, actually sound better. But the higher the recovery speed you are actually shortening the signal to the your ear phones to give more time in between targets but it takes more processing to do that so you give up depth. Its bests to always ground balance the machine but the Equinox is pretty good by default but if you want the machine to function the best then I would ground balance before every hunt and maybe do it when you notice the ground changing or the machine gets a little erratic/unsettled. Hope that makes sense.

      Not sure what you are referring to 800 and the 1000? There is a Nox 600 and a Nox 800. No 1000. Bot the 600 and 800 ground balance the same.

    I programmed Andy's coin cherry-picking settings in my EQ 800 and went to a known trashy vacant lot that used to be a cotton mill in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Within about 1 minute, I hit a spot that gave me broken 19- 31 signals. I was curious, so I dug it up. I found a coin spill of clad that included 12 quartes, 5 dimes, 1 penny and 2 nickels. The oldest coin was 2001. Nothing rare or unique. Paid for my gas to drive to the hunt...

    The Equinox is NOT the best coin hunting machine out there !
    The TID scale is to small at 40.
    So it puts too many targets at the same TID.
    A good cherry picking machine has at least 45. Even better is 90 and better yet is 120 like the Rutus Alter 71.
    That let's you tell the difference between a copper penny and a silver dime.
    The Equinox struggles with that.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  3 года назад +1

      Let me be clear I was testing a cherry picking program in this video and to be brutally honest you shouldn't need to use a VDI number scale to dig a target. Your shovel is the only tool that really matters. A number scale is helpful and sure the more numbers the better I guess but that wasn't the point of the video.

    • @lewis1141951
      @lewis1141951 3 года назад

      @@MentalMetal So why try to cherry pick if you have to dig everything.
      You can't cherry pick with a machine that can't tell the difference from a copper penny and a silver dime.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  3 года назад +1

      So Wayne 1951, I'm now realizing that you really didn't watch any of the video because if you did you would know exactly why I was testing the program and the situation where you probably use it. I clearly state that in the video. I believe you think the Rutus Alter 71 is a better machine which is why you are tying to rub me the wrong way. Heck the Rutlus might be better. But I'll be up front and say that until you mentioned it, I never heard about the machine and had to look up info to find out what it is. But I'm open minded and I would love to try one. Tell you what, send me one and I'll test it and do a comparison. In fact, I'll do even better I'll compare it to the XP Deus too. I think that would be a really good test between all three. What do you think? :-)

      ruclips.net/video/06A5aLFxEnU/видео.html

      I have tested lots of machines and at this time own 14.
      Sure go for it , I would like to see your comments.
      There's nothing personal , it just seems everyone concentrates on the Equinox . I own the 800 and it has it's place but not as the best coin machine.

    • @lewis1141951
      @lewis1141951 3 года назад

      Most people don't have the knowledge of all the machines and there functions out there. So they get one or too machines and become a fan boy.

    • @MentalMetal

      It def works but its not something I would use all the time for reasons I said in the video. These settings/program are for quick hunts when you don't have a lot of time and just want to go for the coins. Yes you will miss targets but thats not the point. If you want the most bang for your buck when you have limited time, hit a site with this program first and dig all of the repeatable signals (not the broken ones).
