Croton is an extensive flowering plant genus in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae. The plants of this genus were described and introduced to Europeans by Georg Eberhard Rumphius. The common names for this genus are rushfoil and croton, but the latter also refers to Codiaeum variegatum.
For the best color development crotons should receive good light but have some protection from full midday sun. Their color burns out in full sun and hardly develops at all in shade, Bender says. Even crotons bred for indoor use need as much light as they can get to hold their color well.
Croton growing in containers should only be watered when the top of the soil is dry to the touch. Then, they should be watered until the water flows out the bottom of the container. The plant should also be kept away from drafts and cold, as it cannot tolerate temperatures below 60 degrees F.

Maam I m a beginner gardener...n live in mumbai. Mumbai has heavy rainfall for 3 months at a go n I lost al.ost all my balxony plants last year in the monsoon. Please do a video on how to rake care of potted plants in monsoon.🎉

Much awaited video... Thankyou. Same problem with all my philodendron and many other plants kept under shade also turning all yellow leaves in balcony. I have kept them inside because of heat and temp outside going very high and probably these plants do not bear such hich temp. Dont know keepining them inside will will help. Do suggest in case if i am wrong. Thanks
This year not only temperature spiked at highest level. I was growing philodendrons for last 18 year but never experienced such high temperatures , previously I was able to maintain them without any green net ,but this year almost most of my aroids like philodendrons , monsteras are in very sorry state in spite of regular watering.try to maintain their roots and stems . They will bounce back once monsoon arrives
