Coming here as someone who's never played these before but excited as hell for the new game, checking out how far the series has come. Man, I would have loved this back in the day.
I used to play this a lot back in the late 90's when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite games on PS1 - there were no other games like it at the time. I'm thinking of buying the new one when it comes out.
@@TheAed38 I just started playing and if you have not gotten the new one get it. So far it has been fun. I will warn you though some of the bosses are extremely difficult unless you have the right equipment.
I've actually always appreciated games having their own unique controls. The problem is no one is used to having to learn new controls for a new game these days, they expect the same buttons for every game. Armored Core's controls made sense to me at the time.
Je viens de me racheter une playstation avec l'excellent Gran Turismo 1 et 2, je recherche également ce jeu, c'est vraiment des bons souvenirs à l'époque où les jeux vidéos étaient encore ludique et sans une communauté toxique
Omg dude unlocked memory i played this game on my dads ps1 when i was extremely young . . . After armoured core 6 announcement i just had to check it out and yea now i remember
Honestly though it is pretty crazy how the first game and some of the ones on Xbox 360 are so similar in every regard but graphics. got it right the first time and didn't need to change much
I was so hooked on this I played the demo non-stop til I got my hands on it, then I played every armored core I could get my hands on after that. Nothing beats the original PSX version though. It felt more versatile, it didn't need to be more realisticly appealing to the eyes and the sound effects were golden.
I completely agree the only thing holding it back was the wonky controls but if you play on an emulator with an Xbox 360 remote it's not even a problem plus you'll be able to enjoy it in crystal clear HD
I spent HOURS on just the demo playing with different designs and paint/color schemes!! Had a blast with several of the old games and very excited it’s coming back this August!
I totally forgot this game. I used to play it when i was really young and i only just thought of it today so I scoured images as hard as I could to remember what it looked like cause that is all I remembered and found that magical image of the very first mission. Thank you so much for helping me find this game again.
The game was my childhood. From Software will be always about those sweet mecha games. Only thing bad about it is the controls...MAN they are AWKWARD, and take a while to get used to but after you get the muscle memory for it it becomes easier and way more satisfying. Also the game is hard and i mean WAY hard. From Software after all!
The nostalgia is almost too much for me. This game was already old when I first played it on the PS1. My uncle had given my brothers and me a huge box of old games, probably 50-60 titles including a lot of Rated M games which we never got to play normally. I remember playing Armored Core like crazy and basically ignoring the huge treasure trove of games we had access to. I don't think I realized at the time that you are the bad guy in this game. "Eliminate Striking Workers" probably seemed like a totally normal thing to do. I also really struggled to understand the word "sortie" even after my brother explained it to me a bunch of times. I'm really excited to play the new game and hope it lives up to expectations.
I remember this! The customization, even for a game in the 90s, was amazing! I had no idea that these games were still being made. Now, down the rabbit hole I go! :)
They still use the exact same capital N character in their current font for Elden Ring. Check the "Now Loading" screen. I'm blown away that I've been seeing this font for over 25 years!!
this bring back so much memories in me when i was 8 yr old playing on ps 1, the new armored core 6 that just release remind me for this game, i remember that the cover of the cd is transformer but the game is THIS, hahaha im not dissapointed playing this as a kid but little complicated back then, im also surprise how i could play this game so well without know any english title in the game
i cant be the only one that found this game super hard as a kid. i feel like buying it for my vita but not sure......maybe cuz i was young and sucked lol.
Just had a random as heck flashback from about ....22 or so years ago. I was playing this part at the beginning and that part that comes on at 1:55, not a few seconds later, my flatmate says "The test is over, from this moment on, you are ....a Budgie..." Whaaaaa??? Why does my brain store this stuff?
I love that computer voice, ZOE definitely took something from this game.. they sort of made it fast paced but with a lot of arsenal and didn't include messing around with mech parts.
I still play all the armored core games.... On my computer 😁 between Mechwarrior and Armored core, there is no need for another mech based franchise... Needless to say, I own ever armored core that was ever released and I own 1 and masters of the arena in physical unopened copy's.... I also own every MechWarrior (PC based) game to ever release, including a copy of the original MW2 DOS big box also unopened, I'm a mech Head 😄
Just started playing this recently and put 9 hours into it without even trying. For a 3D game released in 97 it had every right to be a janky mess but it’s genuinely good 👍
Have no clue where I got this game.. I remember finding it and loving it but never getting far at the time.. I believe when i got the mini ps1 with screen is when i discovered this game.
@@maskednil og controls are garbage. I put all movement control on the d pad then i put all camera control on the button pad. Shoot with r1 switch with r2. Blade on l1 and booster l2.
@@bgonzales817 oh damn I did something similar on my Vita emulating the game. Left analog for movement. Right analog for camera. L1 boost, TQ fire, kept the weapon change and melee on the same keys. I also mapped them to the touchpad but the Vita's touchpad is not that great but hey it's infinitely better.
Mission based, no open world. The upcoming AC6 is still mission based but with a huge mission area. I heard that you can replay the missions once you beat the game once but that remains to be seen.
What's with the frame rate? All videos I see of the first era are great, but my first era games have a frame rate of something like 16. Makes it hard to enjoy.
Those darn games back then :( eh, well, at least I got the WA-FINGER in Project Phantasma. The fun of that weapon makes the game somewhat more enjoyable.
These sound effects and music still bring back memories
Definitely

Played like a dream, wasnt awkward or stiff at all. The weapons systems were spot on and the customisation was awesome.
At least in memory. looking up and down using the triggers feels pretty wonky nowadays but in the age before joysticks it worked
I've actually always appreciated games having their own unique controls. The problem is no one is used to having to learn new controls for a new game these days, they expect the same buttons for every game. Armored Core's controls made sense to me at the time.
While I _pretty much_ agree... the framerate killed it for me. Camera control like this with the game running at like 24fps got frustrating fast.

No shit Sherlock
Indeed, all except for the controls. They suck
Really well
The soundtracks back then
Epic 90's!

From what I remember the demo even had split screen Vs mode? I also played it loads at the time.
I only played the demo, but I absolutely loved this game
What a great game!
This game is now available on the american ps3 playstation store in classsic games
This game’s graphics hold up pretty well. The animations are smooth and there’s not too many wobbly polygons.
I spent HOURS on just the demo playing with different designs and paint/color schemes!! Had a blast with several of the old games and very excited it’s coming back this August!
bring it on punk
i would destroy you in this game boy
played this game all the way through a few times back in the day still have it one of my favs
thanks bro ive been thinking about this for 20 yrs, holy shit thats hardcore music Man! awesome I only had the demo! bless ya kiddo.
Me too, I be honest between this and the pizza hut demos they used to give out, I think i spent more time playing partial games than full ones. lol
This game is unique and kind of creepy. No sound it's so simple and that's interesting.

Yep fun game! I'll take this over Soulsbourne games...
Gundam games aint got shit with the difficulty of this games
Soundtrack is 🔥🔥🔥 it’s been decades since I played this and I’m stoked for the new game
The sounds at the beginning so nostalgic😩😩
Cant wait for the new one!!!!! OG player here!!!!!!!!!
One of the absolute best of all times
Anyone replaying this now caught the "Dark Soul" gang stealing tanks and shit?1997, and they were already throwing that name around
Yeah!

I mean, it looked pretty great for a PS1 game, the simple environments let them use a ton of polygons for the ACs.
This game pushes the PS1 to its limits back when it was released?
I remember this! The customization, even for a game in the 90s, was amazing! I had no idea that these games were still being made. Now, down the rabbit hole I go! :)
Woah, I didn't think I ever played this game but the lanky legged enemy triggered a super old memory. I guess I have played this.
This shit got me so stoked for the new game. It's actually aged surprisingly well, you'll have to upload a follow up comparison video.
It's the dark souls of robot games
Yes lol
No.
Nah, Dark Souls is the Armored Core of fantasy adventure.
Hard ass game once you get in
Ah yes... playing missions and always losing money. I remember this game now...
If u got negative 50k money u would get "Human Plus" upgrades!
Oh how far we’ve come…
Armored Core and Gundam. Fuck yeah.
this game was my childhood. it's very hard though
Bro this music is my Childhood!!! 🤩

Nostalgia overload. This game was so well balanced. 8 Ball... man what a battle.
Another game that's part of the reason I'm a trancehead today
this brings back memories
After finishing AC6 as my first mech game ever i wanted to see how old games look. I m actualy blown Away the gameplay looks smooth .
The demo to this back I’m days was too dope ! Ahead of it’s time
Man how did I miss this masterpiece of a game

I remember struggling at the turning rate of the AC's...
This is better than new 6
strafing while shooting was op and I loved it
Me too! I also loved that you can fly!
So nostalgic.
I remember this was one of the free demo games in those Jampack disc. Fun game
The missile lock-on sound is just amazing in 1st gen 🤩.
Loved the laser blade when in close range. The amount of damage it delivered was huge.
well the bit where your doin ya training, hardcore!!!!

A blast from the past 😁
Had this for my PS 1 was dope
i had a random memory of this seeing it in a demo for ps1 that is all
He missed the rocket launcher that's behind the starting area of the map
That was a cool feature! Hidden weapons!
