    This is why I love your page coach, because you show how terminology and teaching don't have to be the same as others long as it's learnable, successful and consistent in teaching its fine

    Great video coach.
    Definitely got my mind working at how to package formations and plays with 1-2 words and how much faster that can make you play!

    Great stuff as always coach. With that first twins example the other option would be to call 'pro right slot', West Coast style, but I guess that is more verbiage.

    We run outside zone out of spread looks from under center so it's important for us to flip our balanced 2x2 look so we can ran towards our better slot run blocker to either side.

    Great Video! Can you do one on BTF BLITZ the formation..& FIB- Formation in the Boundary adjustments?

    For that Right Twins I’ve always known it as Pro Right Slot, but it’s more verbiage, but maybe simpler to understand. Also in the system I’ve been coaching at the last few years they’d use one word to describe formations. Rip (Split Gun Right) and Liz (Split Gun Left) then you can add a tag to get the formation you want. (Rip Slot, Rip Pro. Etc...)

    Coach,
    Great video. Why do you switch your linemen? I know that is something Wing-T guys do, but I haven't heard of Spread teams doing that that much - unless they are a Spread Wing T team.

      Want to be able to run the ball where we want regardless of the ball being on a hash. We can put our better lineman to the field or boundary when we choose.

      Wouldn't this cause teams to be able to diagnose tendencies in formations and where your "best" lineman are in reference to where you run the ball? Or is that something you are conscious of and have the ability to run the ball both ways regardless of where your "best" lineman are to break any tendency established by previous film?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад

      Strong and quick lineman refers to going to the formation call or away from it. It does not mean best lineman on one side and worst on the other.

      Isn't the TE already a tendency? If you have a natural tendency because of a TE, FB, Sniffer/Blocking Back also switching the OL makes sense because your guys will see a consistent look all week / night.

    Great stuff coach, can you make a video on Outside Zone and your opinion on cut blocks vs no cut blocks on the backside?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад

      I will try and do that in the future. Thank You

      Tony Bananas we run outside zone at the high school I coach out. We never cut against an even front running towards an inline tight end. If it's an odd front we might because of the numbers. If we are running it without a tight end then we always cut the backside and center and allow a double team with our play side guard and tackle. In that case we will normally audible to the 1 technique at the line of scrimmage. Whether we are 3x1 or 2x2 formations depends on our film study and how expect they will line up

      We also run Outside zone, and when we run weak side we use the fullback to Lead this way we account for numbers. We'll shift the F back from slot or Trade him from one side to the other in the backfield. We have tendencies as well but we try and hide them with boot and sprint passes to keep the defense honest.

    Great video Coach. In the system I played and coached at we had very similar verbiage. One thing we did differently, but effective was when play calling it was understood that if the formation name didn't have "Left" it was understood that it was a "Right" formation. e.g. The formation "Twins" = Y to the right and twins set to the left.
    Whats your take? It basically gets rid of ever tagging the word "Right" in a formation.

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад +2

      That is a good idea, we build our snap counts into formations so how we call them takes that into account as well.

    Those of you wanting to run pro sets (either shotgun or under center) with twins, just tag the twins after the strength. For example, pro right twins or strong left twins. Everyone goes to their formation like normal but Z goes away towards the X

    Quick question Coach....I remembered you align your o linemen as weak side and strong side. I've always feared that I'd tip my hand to the defense, is that something to worry about or should I just run that way according to my players' ability?

  • @ceciliomitchell8750

    Really good video coach. I'm a big fan of your stuff. Everyone has tendencies, but you still have to execute and your opponent has to stop.
    What's the difference between Indy and Nascar for your verbiage?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад +1

      Indy is 3x1 Nascar is 2x2

    Can't teams key when they see your "strong guard, strong tackle" ?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  7 лет назад +1

      Every offense has tendencies to key off, but it's not like the ball always goes behind strong side lineman. We definitely have tendencies though

    • @clevelandmcfarlandiii3261
      @clevelandmcfarlandiii3261 5 лет назад

      No they actually can't because in this system he can run a version of the same play the opposite direction and package a wrinkle to expose you keying the guards example: jet read with the q counter the other way. This is only a way to build formations simplifying verbage not to hide tendencies

  • @davidortiz4492
    @davidortiz4492 3 года назад

    I use the same verbiage

  • @timcullen1461

    You're adding problems just tone solve them. Good luck

    • @clevelandmcfarlandiii3261
      @clevelandmcfarlandiii3261 5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely not! Pay attention he's moving less players ultimately making it easier for him to call one or two word plays. Which means he can run different plays within the same formation with one or two words, hand signals or cards. This all about simplifying verbage.
