When the cops say that if a person would have simply given up their ID they would have been free to go, they are admitting that they have no legitimate reason for an arrest.
And like usual, how would the ID help LEOs determine if he was the one trying to open cars up or not? Did they have the name of the actual person that was trying to open up cars?
Because he’s defensive of the fact that he’s innocent that tells the female cop that he’s guilty. Incredible! She needs to be handcuffed and arrested for kidnapping.

The thing that always gets me is that the cops could easily tell if he was their guy or not by asking the hotel to show them video, but they never ever ever want to actually find evidence and figure it out conclusively. All they want is ID.
not knowing which corporate behemoth owns which hotel brand does not render a person 'clueless'. Thinking that this is the only information required to make such a judgement might be.

Every cop, "You got some ID...I just need a little ID...Let me have your ID...I'm jonesing for some ID..." Do cops get bonuses for running IDs? Lazy policing at its worst.
It’s part of their intelligence gathering scheme. It’s why they get so upset when you refuse to ID because they can link you to something now or in the future and retaliate against you in numerous ways.
If they can run someone's ID and find that they got a warrant or something, it makes their job a heck of a lot easier and they can just drop all investigation and arrest the guy there, then throw whatever charges they want in, hoping that just because the person was wanted that will automatically convict them of any other charges. Then they can go back to watching netflix on their phones at a gas station.

@@accik (Assuming the cops are *actually* investigating and aren't just warrant fishing) Contact information is used to confirm things like Alibis and to prove innocence (or guilt). If the police find out that a credit card with your name for example was at a gas station during the time that the crime happened elsewhere, then giving your information to the police proves you innocent. Conversely, if they were investigating a crime that happened at the gas station, then your ID just made things worse. If you actually committed the crime and you believe that your name would be incriminating, I suppose you could tell the police to arrest you and plead the 5th. They can find out who you are anyways in this scenario by doing things like facial recognition at the jail.
Once they get their ID fix, they hope it will show the victim has a warrant. They can then use all their toys because "resisting arrest" and their night is complete. Rinse, repeat when they need their next fix.

@gibblespascack1418 good point. Lord forbid they walk him up to the man in cuffs, surrounded by badges and guns. His safety is at risk. What gutter trash. 🗑️
He was a guest. He did belong there! Sue them. Also, the witness who identified him from a distance through a window while he was handcuffed in the back seat of a cop car, said he was wearing pants. The guy in the back of the cop car was wearing shorts. And then they went and solicited a trespass. Sue the crap out of them!
Yes, the witness saying the suspect was wearing pants just blew it for the officers reasons for arrest and their credibility - you could see the male officer looking unhappy.
When he's asking to be shown a video, I don't think that he is making any assumption that a video is required for an arrest, he's really just asking the police to do a thorough investigation. In order for them to show him a video they would have to look at the video and if they look at the video they will see that it was not him.
@ when did I saw anything about them demanding ID? Do you not hear how ridiculous you sound? All I said was him having a hotel key wasn’t enough to prove he wasn’t trying to open car doors. You guys really need some reading comprehension skills.
There are so many red flags with the witness statement. The witness wanted to leave his car parked in a no parking zone, got upset that he couldn’t, and then complained about someone checking his door handle? The level of incompetence in LEO conduct, knowledge, and thought process still astonishes me, no matter how many of these videos I see.
They care about arresting someone for anything with the least amount of effort. You're getting arrested because you interrupted them from doing nothing. That is a crime because four cops had to put forth the effort to show up.
Fucking authoritarians. Order following tyrants. They are not to be trusted because they don't serve or protect anything but the state and corporations.
"I didn't do it." means you did it. "I did it." means you did it. "I don't answer questions." means you did it and you're obstructing the investigation. What kind of logic is that?
I was pulled over a few mornings ago on my way home from work, and the cop started asking me where I was heading, where I was coming from, etc. When I told him that I don't answer questions, you'd have thought I just slapped him by the look on his face. 😂 He asked me why not, and I said that I'm not obligated to. He looked so confused. 😂 He walked back to his car, came back less than 2 minutes later, and let me go without even a warning. 🤣 Sometimes, standing on our rights works, even if it's only because the police don't know how to handle it. 🤣
“Even if every person here tells us you’re not the guy you’re still going to jail” perfectly shows how much they actually care about “justice”. All they care about is punishing people who bruised their egos.
And making quotas, and getting their jollies abusing people. Speaking of abuse, have you ever looked into the studies about law enforcement personnel and perpetration of domestic violence?
They don't want to investigate. Ten people tell them that's not the guy! Meanwhile the actual perp is still breaking into cars right under their goddamn noses! unbelievable, completely ignore the actual call and get obsessed with identifying this guy.
Who knew standing on our rights could be so upsetting and instigating. They might appreciate and know our rights if they needed them. They get qualified immunity so ….
Not a single cop goes to the convenience store where the man was buying a popsicle. Now, I know how to cause complete chaos at a hotel. All I need to do is say that I saw some guy flipping car handles in the parking lot and then go to my room and watch the chaos unfold.
Soooo this is funny because I saw this same scenario actually happen from my second story window: two cars w/e they might have cars parked to each other or something.. third car alright this is bad as mine was the 10th car away. Called and watched the fuzz pull up by the 8th car which was surprisingly fast and boy did drama escalate beyond anything thought possible. Turns out he was an off duty something or other and was drunk as skunk and admitted to trying to get into cars to find clothing (it was in the low 20's F with snow on the ground and he was in shorts and flipflops) then a woman drives in and taps a squad car claiming she was looking for him. Both booked and stuffed. Then the officers come knocking on every door of second floor probably looking for us who called it in. It was 1am when first called!
No one listened to his Boss. No one cheeked his room key. They could have gone to the room and asked him to identify belongings. No effort except he would not bow down, so he must be guilty.
I never understand in today's modern world with video cameras everywhere, why police simply do not or aren't required to verify video evidence if present. While the cops are outside with the suspect and gathering witness statements, etc, one should be inside reviewing surveillance footage for definitive proof whether if they have the correct suspect or not. Really should be a requirement for commercial property crimes where surveillance cameras are present.
I mean it's fishing but it could give you things . That's the issue though you can't just check in case you would find something or they'd be doing that to everyone for anything just to see. That's a police state.

(Assuming the cops are *actually* investigating and aren't just warrant fishing)
Contact information is used to confirm things like Alibis and to prove innocence (or guilt).
They want everyone to be checked for warrants and to have you in the system.

How can a cop say, so we bust him for trespassing? They never asked him to leave!

@terrenceodonnell6347 in some states, refusing to identify is a crime if you are detained. Now the question is, was the detention lawful. According to the courts, it most likely was. He matched the description of the suspect, was in the vicinity, and was pointed out by someone as the person. There is ample court precedent that would give them reasonable suspicion to detain him. During that detention, refusing to identify is a crime in some places.

It's based on legal standing. C- is the lowest you can get without violating rights and breaking laws.
