JOHAR | An Ethnographic Documentary on Santhals

JOHAR is an ethnographic documentary about the ethnic Adivasi group called the Santhals. It is one of the largest tribal communities in India but not a lot is known about their cultures and traditions.
I hope people enjoy the film and that whatever I was trying to convey has reached them the right way and that they understand this tribe a little better now.

Nice and great❤️❤️I love our culture and I'm proud of it. I have seen so many things from this video which I never experienced in my childhood. But so many things are excluded. When I was a child staying in our village Senimjor in Dumka district. I used to go for looking after cattle and I used to have sling(like King's David sling). I know very well how to throw. We don't much use this katepull, we use most of the people is Bow and arrow and sling at that time. I have so many things to say possibly to include in this documentary film😊😊

दुमका परगना को ईस्ट इण्डिया कम्पनी की फोर्ट विलियम सरकार ने बीरभूम जिले से काटकर अलग जिला बनाया, 1855 में। लाखों संथालो ने अपना बलिदान देकर इस भूमि को अपने लिए सुरक्षित किया। लेकिन आजादी के बाद हिंदुओं ने (खासकर बनिया और ब्राह्मण जाति के लोग) संथाल परगना क्षेत्र में कूटनीतिक और राजनीतिक तरीके से अपना पांव जमा लिया। संथालों के साथ बंदोबस्त जमीन को ये लोग जबरन कब्जा भी कर रहे हैं। ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा संथालों के पक्ष में पारित किए गए कठोर भूमि अधिनयम के बावजूद भी कमिश्नर कोर्ट, कलेक्टर कोर्ट, एस डी ओ कोर्ट्स, कानून को नजरअंदाज करते हुए, संथालों के पक्ष में फैसला ना देकर दिकुओं से घुस ले कर उनके पक्ष में फैसला दे रही है। और इस तरह संथाल अपने ही जमीन से बेदखल किए जा रहे हैं। मैं इतना इसलिए जानता हूं क्योंकि मैं डिविजनल हेड क्वार्टर दुमका कोर्ट में काम करता हूं।
दिकुओंं को इस क्षेत्र में रहने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। मुझे भी नहीं। मैं चाहता हूं कि सारे संथाल एक हो जाएं एक बार फिर से। इस बार तुम संख्या में भी ज्यादा हो। स्थानीय भूमि कानून, जिसका ज्ञान तुम्हें ही खुद नहीं है, उसमे भी ताकतवर हो। आखिर किस दिन जागोगे तुम लोग? क्या हूल के बाद तुम सो गए? तुम एथनिक, नस्लीय, प्राकृतिक हर दृष्टिकोण से हिंदुओ और मुस्लिमों से कहीं अच्छे हो। उखाड़ कर फेंक दो सब को यहां से। ये भूमि सिर्फ तुम्हारी है। तुम्हे शर्म नहीं आती अपनी मां बहनों को देखकर जो दुमका के गली गली में कूड़ा उठाकर तुम्हारे लिए रात के भोजन की व्यवस्था के लिए ऐसी हीन जीविका के कलंक को लाचारी में अपने माथे पे पोती हुई है। तुम्हारे ही जमीन पर दिकु महल बना कर रह रहा है क्योंकि तुमने ही मात्र 250 रुपए कमाने के लिए लूह में भी उसके लिए ईट ढोया है। तुमसे अच्छे तो वे नक्सली हैं जिन्हें मेरी तरह बोलना तो नहीं आता पर मेरे जैसे ही स्पंदित विचारधारा से प्रेरित होकर तुम्हारे ही हक के लिए वे हथियार उठाए हैं। हथियार तो सिद्दो कान्हु ने भी उठाया था, अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ नहीं बल्कि महाजनों के खिलाफ। तो फिर वे क्रांतिकारी क्यों कहलाए! और आज भी संथाल हथियार उठा रहे हैं इन्हीं गैरकानूनी ताकतों के खिलाफ, तो फिर उन्हें नक्सली कैसे कह सकते हैं! क्रिया तो वही है। तुम्हारे क्षेत्र में जो दोगले लोगों की ताकत घुस आयी है, उन्हीं लोगों ने तुम्हारे शुभचिंतकों को नक्सल का नाम दिया है। तुम अभागे हो कि तुमने स्वीकार भी कर लिया। तुम अनार्य आखिर आर्य के नियंत्रण में जा कर ही रहोगे। और अंततः सड़ोगे।
सभी संथालों से मेरा अपील है कि सब एक हो जाओ। खून खराबा बाहर से कोई और आ कर कर रहा है तुम्हारे क्षेत्र में आकर। भगाओ उन सबको। मारो! अब समय नहीं है। आंदोलन करो। जुटो तुम लोग! सबको अपनी सीमा से बाहर खदेड़ दो। प्रकृति भी यही चाह रही है। उसे नाराज मत करो, तुम उसी के उपासक हो। तुम्हारे ऊपर दीकुओं की छाया तुम्हारे लिए अभिशाप है।
तुम्हारा और दिकुंओ का मेल ही कैसा! ना वर्ण का, ना भोजन ना पोषक का! कौन सी डर तुम्हे बर्दास्त करने को कह रही है? चाई चंपा से ही तुमने पुरुष से प्रकृति का विकास मानना शुरू कर दिया था। मै नहीं कह रहा हूं कि अपनी ताकत तुम सीमा के बाहर फैलाकर अपना साम्राज्य बढ़ाओ। तुम आखिर अपना दायरा भी तो सुरक्षित करो। कब तक बाजार में कल की तरह ठगे जाते रहोगे! अपना बाजार बनाओ। हर ताकत का सहारा लो। हटाओ यहां से इन चोर चिलरों को, नहीं तो मरांग बुरू का ये पवित्र जगह जनक हो जाएगा और यहां दोगला मियां और लिच्चड़ हिन्दू बार बार पैदा होगा। मेरी आवाज़ को अपनी ऊर्जा बनाओ।
