WE ALL LOVE YOU WALDEMAR❣️❣️❣️You are the best art historian imho. We need more new episodes.
I second that emotion
I love this series so much, because not only do I learn so much about art, but listening to Waldemar talk is simply a pleasure in itself.
Waldernar is wonderful

Dear Mister Januszczak I'm fond of your way to tell about ART. I admire your knowledge and in the same time I'm admiring the deeply friendly way you are inviting each one of us in a new initiative voyage in art. You're deeply living each word you're saying, you're putting all your heart and is impossible to resist you. Thanks God( of ART) for that. Grateful, Constantin from Bucharest, Romania.
Waldemar is one-of -a kind.....SUCH a boisterous intellect...its crazy how good he is..?!!!
No art historian is so thorough and sincere in his study of art as this man. He has master master classes a giant step above and so much more original on his take on art.
I agree ☝️
I agree. He's most original, enlightening, and exceedingly well informed
He's just the host of the show; I'm sure he had some influence on the script, but he ain't all that... Wladoslaw whoever

@@giuseppelogiurato5718 No. The flown-in host is an American thing. If someone has their name on a UK/EUropean programme, you can be pretty sure they at least wrote it. I'm pretty sure this whole thing is Waldemar as auteur.
Im using them for pandemic online art class...so engaging...the students love him!
Waldemar is a first rate presenter and critic, points out the beauty as well as the flaws. Witty and captivating . We love you, Waldo!
His passion is infectious.
More entertaining than it has any right to be.
I love his: "God created Adam - Adam let him down. God created Noah - Noah let him down. God created the prophets - and the prophets let him down. And because they're prophets, they know exactly what comes next."
Medazalam
Oh, that is great!
I could watch Waldermar all day long, he's so informative, informal and with a tongue in cheek humour
Isn’t he just the best?!!! I truly wish I could’ve educated by him on all of this art history... I learned, but in art school? It was nothing like this... sigh.( still very grateful for what I got...)
I don't know about watching him all day, but I watch him and these awesome films all night 😉.
Yes, he's a great presenter.
,
Same here!
Waldemar is my newest RUclips ADDICTION. I followed the Baroque from St. Peter's to St. Paul's. I marveled at the Northern Renaissance..the carved statue of St. George slaying the dragon in the Church Of St. Nicholas in Stockholm, Sweden; Jan Van Eyck's Ghent Altarpiece...so many MARVELS!
WHAT JOY!! AND IT'S JUST STARTED!!
THANK YOU, WALDEMAR &
THE BBC!
How can anyone say art history is boring? This guy is anything but boring. I've listened to all his episodes multiple times as I paint away in my art studio. I've been also been fortunate enough to have some art history professors at universities who lecfure with the same enthusiasm.
Everything is an opinion.
Bravo
He is very entertaining
Art History is captivating. It's just that most Professors are boring.
@@keepyourshoesathedoor Actually, no. Everything is not an opinion.
History. Culture. Creative Spirit. Thank you, once again, Waldemar Januszczak!
I love watching this man. And his Perspective.
Waldemar has become my guide to all things art historical. A wit, a compositional mind, and a presenter of the first rate.
Well said.
These documentaries are superb. Absolutely fantastic
Just love Waldemar! So brilliant, down to earth and funny. I’m watching them all.
I have learned so much. I just love history, especially Art history.
Totally feeds my brain!
I’m addicted. The presentation is peerless
He is great. Very entertaining and not boring.
Just discovered this historian tonight and have watched several episodes. His knowledge is impressive and he teaches well.
So entertaining AND informative! I just love Valdemar’s wit and unique way of presenting the subject of art history.
He has made art so alive and how it has influenced history
This guy is witty. What a clever critic. Been binge watching all his videos.
I like his enthusiasm for the subject.
i think you are another step up of kenneth clark you have a unique way to contact people with art and a wonderful camera man with high quality artistic eye your are one of the best in internet beacause of you special way to take the viewer in a wonderful adventure congragulatios keep doing it wow wow thank you so much is a joy to see you programs i live lost in the mountains of mexico iam a painter
I’ve got absolutely no interest in art but Waldermar makes me want to know!
Love it!
Waldermar is by a country mile my fav. Art Historian.......he rocks..and so informative.
Waldermar gives another brilliant and wonderfully engaging commentary on a key period in the history of art .
This is the first guy, since Kenneth Clark, whose art history videos I can watch with pure joy. And Clark I watched when I was a teenager! I'm an jaded, old man now.
Did you miss the series by Art Historian and critic Robert Hughes? One of the best.
Just imagine unimaginable ...and here he is - Waldemar my man. Simply love this guy.
Wonderful! Waldermar, I'd love to see what you'd do with the evocative Bible stories carved in stone in 915, on the facade of Holy Cross Church on Akdamar Island in Lake Van, Turkey, by an unknown Armenian master. He had a sense of humor. There's nothing like them anywhere. If anything like them ever existed, it's been destroyed, but Holy Cross is preserved.
Anything by Waldemar Januszczak is worth it’s weight in gold…..his level of dedication to the truth, his clear eyed comprehension of art and the story behind it is priceless….
Waldemar deserves props on every movie here on youtube. So insightful and disrupting. Setting the mark higher than established status quo. Way to go Waldek!
I don't know why but I love Waldemar's voice and wit, I sometimes will replay one of his videos late at night and fall asleep listening to his take on some artist from years long past. I don't know much about art but I now know a little more than I used to.
He soothes me to sleep also.
@@almapendergrass7810 you are not alone!
Absolute genius! Everything you need to learn. Humorous. descriptive, factual, passionate. I adore you W.
Yes but we dont want to see his naked torso!!

Magnificent.
Waldemar is such a lovely chap!
So Great
❤️Waldemar. Always looking forward to the next program!
the best art documentaries I have ever seen ,waldemar is just amazing .,his perpective of art and his narrative is unique
As an Italian I always took for granted seeing all the art, visiting Ravenna, Assisi etc…. I love being an adult and knowing this is all so important culture wise
I love this. This gentleman is like the art professor of my dreams. Will be watching again and again. Thank you.
Excellent documetarist!
I learn on every one.
Second time around, and there's even more to absorb. Dear Waldemar, how do you manage to pack so much of the good stuff into barely one hour? Amazing. This won't be the last time I bathe in your pool of liquid art history and cheeky commentaries. Having you as an art mentor and guide, is both an honor and a challenge.Thank you.
these Perspective documentaries are all awesome, this one especially is pure gold!♥ I will watch as many as I can, thanknyou so so much from Italy! I've actyally seen first hand some (not all) of the things in the documentary but they are explained so clearly here it's like seeing them again.
THIS MAKES LEARNING HISTORICAL ART WORKS INTERESTING AND FUN.
November is the month of purgatory. As Catholics we pray extra during this month for the souls in purgatory. You are correct that many today do not know of it like they used too.
Watching this one for the first time…. Glorious, powerful and in a way (if at all possible) far outshines all other of your movies, sir 10/10 obviously!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What an awesome expert of art. I could spend an entire day watching his well made and fascinating videos without ever getting tired of it.
I fully enjoy watching these videos... God, I feel like I'm living art
Merci infiniment … Magnifique !👍🗣👋🏼☺️
Wonderful presentations, thank You so much for your great narrative talent and for showing us these wonderful Artpeaces!
Waldemar undoubtedly perceives royalties each time he uses the verb 'to pop up'.
Besides that, he's a fantastic orator and a captivating presenter ;)
The narrator is so expressive...Like an actor in Shakespeare theatre.Thank You.
If you tour many of the fantastic Italian cemeteries such as Staglieno in Genoa, you will see that there are many sculptors as good as Michelangelo. Almost every major City in Italy has a genius or two in the works in those cemeteries.
This is simply brilliant. I am a PhD historian (albeit not of the Renaissance), and this completely changed my perspective of soo many aspects of it. Really top-notch stuff!
I cant pronounce his name but he's awesome presenting these great artists and movements in art.
Another great program. Thank you. My work is cut out for me - shedding all the guilt my Catholic upbringing has inflicted on me. This has added some "Perspective" on the subject.
Brilliant!!
I love how he’s reading the Scriptures in Latin.
I will say though that God can make the miraculous happen in reality.
I’m publishing a weekly RUclips video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you.
Umm hi, I swear every night I fall asleep to big foot docs and end up here ....I could now enlighten you on the dark ages...and that is just good for humanity.
Oversimplifications certainly make it more easy to understand and relaxing to watch.
I always imagine Aristotle, and his peripatetic school, a bit like Waldermar, a bustling hurrying gentleman talking earnestly over his shoulder, compelling you to keep up!
curious analogy , paints a funny picture , probably some validity to it

One more important aspect of the Sistine chapel fresco by Michelangelo not mentioned here is the artist's self portrait as a skinned sinner hanging in the middle of the painting. Still I really love Mister Waldemar's exciting presentations. As a mature artist I learned a lot from this man than from any Art History book. He is the real deal!
That's a fascinating tidbit of knowledge! Thanks. Now, I'm going to have to search for a photo of it online. 🙂
I could care less about art history but I keep watching these because Waldemar convinces me to care and his talk is mesmerizing.
I'm constantly struck by the way art reflects history, but blown away how much art changed history and attitudes: the impact of television and the internet today, while it was the visual equivalent centuries ago. Art imitates life imitates art, ad infinitum.
Fantastic material and the humor is delightful. Comedic genius mixed with brilliant insights, what's not to like?
Thank you for mentioning Toricello I went to Seville museum just to see his Saint Jerome, and was blown away. Comparing his sculpture of Henry VII with contemporary paintings of the king is astonishing too. I missed the other chap's terra cottas in Bologna - I shall have to go back when Covid is not such a threat.
All those terra cottas are wonderful! Oh, how I'd love to see them in real life.
So entertaining and very informative!
Good lord those first statues behind the gate . Wonderful
I love the hooded guy at 0:20 looking sideways at Waldemar as if to say "Bruh you're reading a book while walking down the street? That's weird."
I thought art history was boring because I had a bad art history teacher. After discovering these videos I know how wrong I was
I so love this program.
This captivating video makes the artistic adventure accessible and particularly alive... watching it becomes a real pleasure, both for laymen and for specialists.
Excellent. The terracotta's by dell Arca and Torrigiano are awe inspiring. Although I am a huge fan of Michelangelo, his sculptures have always appeared awkward; his David's hand is not proportionate and his women all look like men with breasts. Dell Arca's women are women and heart wrenching at that. Torrigiano's pique of temper didn't warrant a life time of exile and by all accounts Michelangelo provoked the attacked. Thank you so much for this posting, I've learned so much.
Just listening Waldemar passionate descriptions is so enjoyable 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Beautiful videos 😍 Thank you very much for sharing, you make us travel in time!
Waldemar is the greatest art historian on the planet
You just want to pack your suitcase and see even half of these in real life. Lucky man. Also a great educator.
A very original & enjoyable approach to what was at the roots of Renaissance art & culture. Of course, it left lots of questions and theses unanswered, but if you came here to probe and disprove, rather than to enjoy, you're clearly in the wrong place. I still wonder about Botticelli who apparently was under Savonarola's spell of iconoclasm [literally, of course], but managed to save unharmed all his mythological and secular frescoes and large paintings from the flaming fires. Thanks!
I wish I had this guy's job. What could possibly be better than traveling around the world visiting great art...
Love your channel. Thank you for bringing the art world to me, in such detail.
I'm addicted to him and this series.
Thank you for this beautiful series! I have learned so much!
This was an amazing watch, full of terrific details and stories
Amazing art and religious history!!!!❤❤❤
I love your video with fascinating cityscapes and landscapes. Truly beautiful... love Dante and was dissapointed he dies in exile...
57:30 Antony Gaudi, they say his church entrance looks like hell. Yet this scene of the final judgement by Michaelangelo looks the same. Gaudi maybe a little less classical in style, but I love his art. His art captures the turmoil and confusion on planet Earth.
So cool so engaging and so much to learn
Beautifully done, my good man….❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love, Love, Love you Waldemar!
I don't have 17 lifetimes to study Roman festivals so forgive my ignorance please. Could someone explain the festival going on at :30?

I am officially addicted to this channel.
The terracotta sculptures of madonna and King Henry VII by Corregiano are wonderful
Beautiful they are. You also might love the art of Vega Montagni or Joe Brockerhoff. Just stop by my site and enjoy their art.
Today, i learned that the Renaissance began 30 years before 1500. with Torrigiano and Niccolo del Arca. Way the Art History forgot this,? wich the reason?. Maybe dark reasons. Thanks so much Waldemar, always very interesting yours programs.

Thank you for posting this beautiful video, what lovely 🎨 art
I love the art of the Renaissance.
Why destroy art 🎨 🎭 God is a artist, He spoke into being the world 🌎 we live in. God made flowers 🌺 and put the color into flowers, paints the sky every day.
God made 🌴 trees and mountains and rivers and oceans
🌊 and God his greatest creation
you and me, mankind, God made man. God made man to know Him
to worship Him. God made man to
fellowship with to bless him, to show himself mighty on his behalf
may you know Jesus as Lord and Savior, God bless you. God gave us art 🎨🎭 to add beauty to our world.
