This sounds so natural. Like the style of the song is enhanced and it sounds so much...fuller. I like this one just as much as the original. The original gives angsty 2000s teen movie vibes, and this gives me the cool punk rock teenager we wished we could have been when we were younger 😂 The only thing is that her vocals are drowned out a little during the verses in my opinion

YES this is exactly what I felt was missing from the original! I mean the original is great but I was missing some of that hard hitting pop punk vibe. The drum tone after the chorus in the original song (around 0:54) sounded really flat, this is much better. Also love the half time thing you did in the second half of the chorus. Gonna share this with all my emo friends :)

In this case, Misery Business’ and Good 4 U’s vocal melodies were caught under fire. From my standpoint, I see similarities, but I see more influence than straight copying.

dang this is so GOOD! this is what the original should’ve sounded like
this is giving me major nostalgic 2000s vibes. like avril lavigne and i love it sm.
see the problem is that when the entire song is so intense, it loses power where it needs it the most. putting such strong sound on the verses makes the chorus hit less hard. and it drowns out a lot of the emotion in her voice (especially the second verse), and the way she builds up as she gets angrier. After two verses and a chorus it just sounds like the same chunk of song repeated over and over, instead of having clear lines dividing verse, chorus, and bridge. There's a magic in quietness and silence that is sometimes more powerful than volume.
No disrespect to the creator of this video though!! They did a great job. It's just, rock doesn't need to be fast paced and loud and sometimes less is more
I strongly agree though, I do think that the original is better because of the fact that it gives much more tension and emotion while this rock version seems flat and it gives away the strong and mad comeback vibe since it seems as it’s loosing the emotion and purpose of the song and why it was written after all. But this is still great though but it doesn’t just go right with my standards.
I agree, and I think it has to do more with Olivia's vocals rather than what this person did with the added rock sound. Olivia (very smartly) wrote this song in a way to have the modern whisper/talking kind of singing sound in the verses to appeal to the Billie Eilish lofi traplike pop audience of today. In contrast, she has that Paramore and 2000's Disney pop-punk/pop-rock sound in the chorus to appeal to the crowd who grew up with that. This inherently creates a problem when you try to change the song completely one way or the other because her provided vocals are just adequate enough to succeed at both, but don't stand out when you don't isolate the chorus from the verse from each other. If you add guitars and drums over the whole song, her emotional sing talking in the verses is drowned out. Conversely, if you put a lowfi beat over the whole song, the chorus would sound ridiculous because she's belting her lungs out. It's Kinda like back when Nicki Minaj did pop songs but she was also a rapper, so there was a really satisfying niche she filled in doing both, but "purists" of either sound didn't appreciate it as much. I personally like the original and this version though!

While I do think this is better than the original, I definitely understand where you're coming from, and this could be refined a bit more so we can keep the emotion but also have this.
The rock cover is at the point where it's subtle enough to not disturb the music. Great work mate. I don't normally listen to rock but this is a treat.
