If your water is not hard, you do not need to fill up the entire detergent slot. Also if you're not using rinse aid, there are chances of the soapy residue remaining. Ensure that you fill appropriate amount of detergent for your water condition. There is a chart that you can follow in the user manual for your water hardness level and set the sufficient amount of dishwasher salt dispensing level. Basically dishwasher takes 3 inputs 1. The detergent - This primarily does the cleaning. (breaking down the oils, fats, proteins and other food stuff) 2. The dishwasher salt - This is required if your water has hardness more than 50 ppm. (And as you go up in hardness, you'll have to set your dishwasher to the correct setting so that the dishwasher automatically releases the required amount of salt (to make that hard water softer). If you don't use dishwasher salt, all the detergent you put won't be sufficient to overcome the water's hardness and you won't get sufficient cleaning. However if you put too high a salt value (it varies between H01 to H07 I think), your dishwasher will soften the water too much and you'd have too much detergent going around. 3. The Rinse Aid - This is merely to get ride of the detergent residue. Ensure that you use a rinse aid. Any rinse aid will work (Finish, Bosch or Fortune) You need to maintain the correct balance of the detergent for your water's hardness and the amount of dishes you have. If you have good clean dishes, you won't need as much detergent.
