Hi Megan- love this video. Your babies are adorable, as always 💕. My girl is very sweet and doting but on her terms! Also she is way more affectionate with my husband! (My breeder told me that the boy Yorkies were more sweet and affectionate than the girls) Alfie treats you like a girlfriend 💕🐾but they are all sweet!
My first Yorkie Teddy, 25 yrs ago was male. Very affectionate. The others were female, who were sweet but not as "lovey-dovey". She passed away after 14 yrs about 5 years ago. I have been dogless ever since. No good breeders near my place. I love the baby-doll face like your's.
I bred and showed yorkies for 25 years. My boys were my favorites! The females love you but the males are IN love with you!! Absolutely correct, the males follow you everywhere and the females watch. 🐾🐾
We went to see my mom the other day for a belated Thanksgiving and took Alfie (and a babysitter watched the other ets) he was soooooo good, and stayed in the kitchen the entire time. I think he was "in love" with the turkey dinner. lol. He is just such a little cutie.
I have a tiny teacup male yorkie (Gimli) who is turning 13 years old this year! I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He absolutely LOVES to snuggle and also follows me around the house everywhere. He’s so smart and funny- but he’s also very quiet. He’s the best boy and love him to absolute pieces.
My male Yorkie, Bernie, rescued us on the last Friday in September of 2005. He had been abused and didn't know how to play. He was also very sick. The power of prayer saved him. He lived for 16 years. He was a full-time job (Lol) but he was the biggest love of our family. He would tap me with his paw and stare at us when he wanted to go outside. He loved the outside and even the cold. He had a heart murmur but was doing very well till covid hit. We couldn't get his meds so the vet had to change them. He ended up getting hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and it was just too much. We rushed him to the emergency vet and they found a blood clot in his heart. We had to put him to sleep. It devastated me. I miss him so much that I cry every day. This will be my first Christmas without him. My husband had a blanket and pillow made with pictures of Bernie and Bernie and me. Then he surprised me with a music box that plays You Had Me From Hello. That was the song I sang to him. Sweetest man in the world. I pray that everyone that has a Yorkie they love gets at least as many happy years that we had with our Bernie. God Bless.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful love story. I was weeping as I read it. It was such a complete and detailed description, and it touched me very much. Be gentle with yourself this holiday. It is ok to cry every day that you need. Grief knows no timeline, and we must honor it, and allow it the time and the space that it needs. ❤️
OhbI am so sorrow for your loss. My Bernie passed away last April 2022 he had cancer. I rescued him an had him 3 years. I still miss him so much. I do have another dog now his name is Toby he is yorky mix a male an he is so precious an loving.❤
Hello Megan. I have a girl yorkie that is name Lola also. She’s 10-years old, spoiled rotten and is my heart. She rules the house. My Lola follows me around, every move I make she’s right beside me. We are inseparable, she was the best present ever given to me. I love her so much and she reciprocates the love back.
Hello Shadona. Lola sounds so sweet, and the two of you sound like you are perfect for each other. My little Lola is right next to me on the couch as I type this message, and we are inseparable as well ❤️ Thank you for stopping by and telling me about her, it made my night:). Megan
I had a male Yorkie via my husband. His name was Bentley and he was a love bug. I grew up with large dogs, mainly German shepherds mixed (mutts) and my last dog before I met Bentley was a border collie mix. All my dogs were predictable and I liked that because it was easy to take care of them. Bentley was another ballpark. I’ve never met a dog like him, mostly because I never had a small dog. He was my husband’s boy since he was 8 weeks old. That baby bear stole my heart in the almost 7 years I met him. He was super possessive of his dad. I couldn’t touch or hug my husband without him going bananas and barking his head off. He accepted me as his human too about 3 years ago. His passing was the most painful thing I have ever experienced (so did my hubs). When my previous dog passed, it was painful and I grieved for a while but Bentley was there for me. But now that he’s gone, we didn’t have any other fur babies to console us. He passed on June 19 and would’ve been 17 this past August. We miss him terribly and may consider a pair of Yorkies in the far future. Thank you for sharing your babies. They are adorable.
I am so sorry for your loss. The hole that it leaves in our hearts when we lose our beloved Yorkies can truly be unbearable. Thank you for taking the time to share ❤️💔❤️💔
When I lost my Yorkie it took a whole year before I could even think about him without tearing up. I had a husky after him. Usually just get full breed rescues. But will probaby get a yorki puppy next. They are so Great!
I had two female Yorkies and they were both extremely stubborn, eerily intelligent, highly vindictive, defensive, and protective in my experience. I also had one male who by contrast was generally very calm, considerate, and companion-like. Always trying to "help" and had to go everywhere I went. He had a high regard for rules and would sort of ask for permission to do things. The two females I had would just do whatever lol.
@@hanaroseofficial They learn fast and like I said, the male one at least was all about the rules. He would come to me and whine anytime any other dog broke a rule. The females somehow were able to teach the rules to other dogs. They would train friends' dogs that I watched.
I have a female Yorkie named Mazie! I'm not even exaggerating when I say she changed my life for the better. I used to be TERRIFIED of all dogs when I was a kid, and Mazie helped me to conquer that fear. Now I love dogs and I am working on getting certified to become a dog groomer and trainer! Mazie is honestly the sweetest dog ever. My parents always say she's the perfect dog. She's mellow, but loving and affectionate at the same time! Yorkies are honestly my favorite dog breed, and whether the dog is male or female, I don't think the owners will be disappointed at all!
I have had 7 females & 1 male. They have all been very loving, got along great My girls are very loving, adorable, love to be near me, love cuddling, even keep an eye on me, etc. My preference is females, they have learned quickly to potty train, I wouldn't change a thing. I have had Yorkies since 2006, best therapy for a broken heart. Best wishes.
I had both and I found that female tend to be calmer and more relaxed, my male just wants to play and enjoy himself. My new male pup is also very similar to my previous male dog, fitting since I named him the same name with a JR. at the end of the name.
I had 3 male Yorkies and they were extremely close to me. I also had a male Maltese that was so sweet. They were all very attached to me and always by my side no matter where I went. Yorkies are my all time favorite breed but IF I ever get another Yorkie, I would get a female because I believe they are easier to train. Nice video.
I have had boys and girls and I do think there is a difference. Our trainer explained it like this, the females have more at stake as they have an instinct to look after babies, they can sometimes resource guard more meaning growl at the other dogs if they take their toy or jump up on the bed or sit near there owner. I agree that our male yorkie follows me everywhere AND our female loves, loves, loves my husband. I would highly recommend a male yorkie even though I love them both very much…. And they do bark, especially when you have more the one and they can react or bark at dogs on your walk, at strangers, at ducks at almost anything so be prepared to be very loving and patient😊🐶🐶
hey Alison, I have a baby boy. I think a trainer may can help with the barking issue. I feel like it’s so easy to spoil them since they are just so cute. I recently find a trainer come to my place and I do see progress. Hope my experience can help you
A trainer taught me how to stop the excess barking. I say "no bark" after I let him bark once or twice. If he barks again, I calmly say "uh oh," pick him up and take him into the bathroom. Close him in the bathroom alone for 10-15 seconds, lights on, please. When you open the bathroom door, say "no bark" again. Keep repeating that sequence when your dog barks until your doggo gets it. It took my dog twice. I have had more than 9 of his 10 years in peace! Every 6 or 8 months I have to do it once or twice to recharge it. But it's brilliant! No need to get mad. And your dog needs to bark to tell you something is happening. You don't want him to continue, though, and a Yorkie probably will continue. You say when the barking stops. It's a calm consequence for a behavior you don't want, without removing his natural instincts.
I have a female yorkie but she also has carina terrier in her and boy she is so the boss of the house and she does cuddle but she also does her own thing and doesn't follow me or mom around like we thought she would but we love her so much
I have both one male and female ( mum and son) and they r wonderful but definitely completely diferent personality but then mum older . Getting my dog a dog was the best thing, they have so much fun ❤️ together.
Males r so fun😅so obsessed, He is a litle shadow, female soooooo sweet but smart like she knows eventually I will sit and she will get cuddles meanwhile male is a begger😅
I love my baby girl. Very independent, and won’t let me hold her at home. She’s the smartest little girl, and so loving. She’s not really a lap dog, but insists on sleeping between my legs. Never in a million years thought I’d have a Yorkie, but she stole my heart ♥️
I have a female Dorkie, she is 3/4 Yorkie. I got her at 7 weeks and she is now an ADA certified service dog. She is my ride or die. She has been on me since the day we got her. I just found your potty training vid and had to smile cause I had tethered her to me during potty training. She never leaves my side and has fulfilled all my hopes and dreams. 4 years and all the more in love. ❤️
I have a Male Yorkie puppy named Mocha. I got him back in May of this year. He loves to sleep with me at night. He is good with other dogs and cats. He is also good with other people. He loves to bark of the morning to wake me up.
In the past I have had a boy and a girl Yorkie. Now I have a second boy and a girl Yorkie. I totally agree with what you said. I will say the girls in my experience are easier to potty pad train. Enjoyed your video.
I have had two Yorkies for the past 30 years. I have had Dutsie for 14 years now. He is a one man pet. He is very smart, and loves learning. He get comments wherever we go. He’s my companion!!
i had two Yorkie male and female got them in 05 for my ptsd. boy had a bad heart valve he lived 10 years, the girl lived 17 years. they were like my kids. i miss them every day. so much joy for such a short time. such small cute dogs that were very vicious to smaller creatures.
They sound like an amazing little duo. They sure do like to chase any smaller creatures that move, don't they? Do you think that you will ever open your heart to another yorkie?
I have a male Yorkie and he is everything I’ve ever wanted in a dog. Although, I must say he can be a bit stubborn when called “to come”. He comes but at his time, but we are working on that.
Yes! They really can be stubborn. We have been staying at my mom's house (which means Alfie needs to wear a diaper) he does not want me to put it on os he runs in the opposite direction.
Thank you for the videos! I have a registered Yorkie pup who at his last vet appointment was 10.5 lbs at 16 weeks. And no he is not overweight. He obviously is going to be a ‘Giant’ Yorkie (I didn’t know that was a thing but it is…google it). My boy is SO sweet, tenderhearted and obedient ! He almost crumbles when you are firm with him & say ‘No!’. He also is my shadow & I wouldn’t trade him for anything, Giant or not!
I just got my 8 week old female yorkie on October 29 and I am sooo In love. I was fully prepared for her prior so everything has been as I expected. Thank you for all the videos. I am so glad I came across you on RUclips.
Hi Mel:). Congratulations on your new yorkie:). I am so glad that you are enjoying my videos. I like to share the information so that it is easier for other yorkie owners, and so they may keep their pups happy and healthy for years to come.
A little over a year ago I bought my first Yorkie. I’ve had all breeds of dogs for years, I’m 73 now. This Yorkie is the smartest little dog I’ve ever had. He knew his name before the first week was up. Never have I ever had a dog that smart! He has also learned how use the steps to get on my bed from watching my other little dogs. Riley will watch and learn how to do things, which I find very interesting. One thing about him though, when outside, he doesn’t listen at all.
@@trees613 I plan on fixing that. Going to get a shock collar, mainly because I can’t chase him, I’m 73, and my road, even though a cul de sac, is busy at times and he’ll get hit and I don’t want that. Going to start out just enough to get his attention, don’t want to hurt the little fella. We’ll see what happens.
Hello! I got a male yorkie as a gift 6 years ago and never regret having him at home. He’s my bodyguard (follows me around everywhere), sleeps with me, and loves to play with me and his many toys. He’s very well potty trained especially in the house. I love to dress him up everyday. He only barks when he needs to otherwise he’ll sleep if I let him. Enjoy your 3 blessings. They are all so cute in their own way.
@@ebrixox basically guide them to the paper when you see they are ready to use it. Carry them if you have to so they know that’s where they have to go. As time goes on, it’ll get easier.
Female Yorkie, 7 years Old ... She is the boss in our house and we all dote on her. We haven't told her that she's a d-o-g, and we probably never will. Yorkies are the best.
I have a Yorkie male for five years and I recently just got a female Yorkie he's somewhat territorial he was barking at her and I got him and let him know Mommy still love him I love haven't left because my love is enough for both of them and this is someone to keep him company so I love my Yorkie's and the other one is not 3 months old yet so I think that's a big difference by me having him for so long and then bring a new Yorkie into the mix he's kind of mad with that so every now and then I get to and put them together and let them like that talkin to each other because she's here to stay
I would make the female because remember you know how females are we wanted then right then and now we want everything our way and to have two female yorkies I think you would have to really can't keep them apart for a minute until they settle down to get together to communicate with each other
Is Yorkies are adorable no matter how you feel they would always come to you to lift your spirits I love my Yorkie I have a 5 years and three months and I love them both dearly
I have only had a male Yorkie. My Charley follows me EVERYWHERE also!!! I call him my little shadow! I love him SO INCREDIBLY MUCH! He is such a cuddler and little love bug.
My little girl has been an only pup since I got her at 8 weeks old with no real experience with dogs, but after doing a ton of research on the breed. She is now 12, and has been the most wonderful addition to my home from day one. She is loving, cuddly, and always wants to be a part of the pack, or meeting anyone who comes to the house. I swear this dog doesn't see strangers as anything other than a friend she hasn't met yet!
I have a male and female Yorkie. Mine are the same as yours. She is dominant but very loving. She will fight viciously for the best spot. My male hates a fight and follows me everywhere and is always peeping behind a door if he’s not in the same room. They are both adorable and special. She is cleverer and more agile. He is braver when out and more loyal.
Love your video, Megan! We had a precious girl Yorkie that we loved to pieces. She was always so excited to see us when we would come home and would cuddle with us on the sofa to watch TV. She was definitely the queen of our household!
I don't have a Yorkie yet. Hopefully once I move I will get one. I believe in choosing the Yorkie that I bond with not necessarily based on gender. I don't believe in choosing based on gender. I will be happy with either.
I had a female who passed but still have my male Spike who is 14 has no gray and still acts like a puppy. Hes my best bud and love him with all my HEART.💖We always had labs and goldens and the goldens i HIGHLY recommend to a family with children and time for brushing. 😆Spike is my 1st small dog and I am a senior hes perfect👍love your videos.
My little girl is Munchkin ! She’s 13 now, and still very active. She is very small tea cup 3.5 lbs. She has had no health issues, other than bad teeth. She loves both of us, but her daddy is her world.
Megan, your Yorkies are absolutely adorable!!! I actually own a Yorkie as well! My fur baby is a female. I definitely agree that Yorkies are amazing dogs to have. They are so adorable, amazing companions, and have big personalities!
I've had two male Yorkies and couldn't be happier. My first male Yorkie was the sweetest, cuddliest, kindest, gentlest, most obedient dog I have ever encountered. He was always by my side. I still haven't gotten over his passing, and that was over 13 years ago. I got another male, thinking he might be a little bit similar. Well, they couldn't be more different! But they both stole my heart. Male Yorkies are the best! I love your channel and have subscribed. Your Yorkies are precious!
I don't think that we will ever get over their passings, we just learn to live with it.❤️🌈💔 They both sound wonderful. Yes, each one is SO different! Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel, I really appreciate it:)
Hi Megan, your yorkies are adorable and love the video. I do have to say that I bred Yorkies for 17 years and have had several females and males over the years and honestly there really isn't any difference as far as personality. If I had to say that one might be more loving than the other it would typically be a male. But that's not true in every case. It's probably just a 60% compared to 40% chance. Females don't fight any more than male do. I've had males that fought and I have had females that fought. It all boils down personality it has nothing to do with being male or female. As far as how cuddly they are for how loving they are again it has nothing to do with the sex of the yorkie. Nothing at all
I completely agree with all of this. I just feel like they are such sweet dogs, regardless of whether you get a boy or a girl either one will make you very happy, and you can bond with either. I love my boy, and I love my girls. They are just fantastic dogs.
I just adopted a male 10-year old Yorkie from a shelter two weeks ago. Luckily enough, he doesn’t bark but he does have a tendency to whine. I believe it is due to anxiety and abandonment issues he is trying to deal with. Personally, I previously had a male Yorkie a few years ago who suddenly passed away. He was so AWESOME. So, when I had the opportunity to adopt a male Yorkie again I did it and I would continue to do so!!! 🐶❤️
He sounds like such a sweetheart. That is exactly how my Teddy was. Thank you so much for the compliment about my channel:). I always just make videos about the various things in my life, I learn a lot, so I like to share to help and inspire others❤️❤️
Hey Megan! I love love love your videos and seeing your beautiful puppies! I used to think I didn’t want a male yorkie or thought I would prefer a female but I adore my sweet Mati and don’t regret getting a male ❤️🐶
I've had two male Yorkies live with me. My first, Jasper, lived until he was 15 years and 8 months. Bobby who lives with me now is 15 next month. They're perfect companions and lap dogs. Bobby likes to sit in my lap all night, he follows me around just like Alfie here and always trying to get my attention. I love him to bits and not looking forward to the day we say goodbye. But that won't be anytime soon. Love to all your Yorkies out there!
I adopted a female yorkie from a couple that left South Africa she was two years old, and she just turned four on the 16th of this month, she is so adorable and very intelligent, that some times I think she is human, she is well behaved and loves to be the centre of attention, and her best place to be is in everyone's lap, she is just like a baby, we can't live without her, she is our bundle of joy, she is a living toy, her name is Gingi.
Our little girl Lola was so sweet, she loved being pet only when she wanted to be, & didn't like being held too long, she allowed sweetly for a few minutes then she wanted down. Lola had her own agenda, but so sweet & smart.
I’m planning on getting a yorkie, and after this it made me more muddled! You make them look soooo cute (not that they aren’t cute in real life!)! And now, I don’ which one to g3t! Your yorkie are beautiful, and please make more vids!❤
I have a male Yorkie. I absolutely love him. Follows me everywhere and is very protective. Has to be near me almost all the time. He was 4 when I got him and was bad about marking. Has gotten better over time.
I have a female yorkie her name is Jazmin or Jazzie when she's not in trouble. I also have a 14 yr old Chihuahua...Jazzie is almost 2 and she is the boss of the house. She does not like me giving anyone else attention and that includes Petie my chi. She is constantly with me and always wants to be held. She can stir up trouble by tearing up toilet paper or digging dirt in my plants. But she is so sweet and knows when I'm sad or not feeling well she is consoling me. I love watching your videos and have learned alot about my little diva thru you. I love your babies they are so cute! I didn't have any problem choosing male or female...the litter was all girls!
I love that you call her a diva! She sounds like she has a big (and wonderful) personality:). Thank you for the kind words, I am so glad that you are enjoying my videos:). Thant make me feel so happy!
You have such adorable babies! Our female Yorkie, Baby Doll, is the most cuddly and adorable female dog! She loves to help cook and do laundry😊. As you were saying, every step I take during the day is accompanied by the Baby Doll. She is 8 months old and has stolen our hearts! We also have a 3 year old male PomChi named Teddy. They love each other and play so well together! We love all breeds and genders. As we are getting older, the smaller breeds have been much easier to care for!
I've had Yorkie mixes and found the same things to be true as you did but my males were more slap happy and smiley and females more sensitive or as you said moody.
I have a male and female yorkie poms. You got their exact description. Both are super loving and caring. However, I do notice the male puppy is always by my side, when I am taking a shower or just working on my computer. He always lies down right in the top of my feet and falls asleep. My female yorkie pom on the other side loves to go around the house, check on me and keep her own little adventure while I am working. I love them both so much. And your puppies are adorable! Thank you for the video.
I have 5 female Yorkies. Also I think that is very individual as to which Yorkies stay by your side or at your feet. Two of my girls follow me everywhere but all of them follow me almost all of the time.
Just got a 6 week old male yorkie. He is so playful and sweet, he has been very active and has been learning so fast. He loves to explore and cuddle. I’m looking forward to growing with him. He has also been so great with my kids. We named him Brownie❤️🐾
It is illegal in all but three states for a breeder to sell a dog at 6 weeks. Especially with a yorkie, it should be 12 weeks. What a shame. An absolute shame.
My 1st Yorkie was a male rescue, when he passed (Feb2022), a female Yorkie rescued me. Both were former puppy mill breedstock. I now prefer the females. Clothes are more available for females, and also, you can give a female a belly rub without it getting, , . . .awkward!😆🤭
I have a male Yorkie and he loves to sleep on my husband's shoulder, and is very affectionate. He also has long hair with a top knot. It's cold today so he has on his sweater.
I have a female Yorkie who is so loving , she follows me everywhere and doesn't want me out of her sight , she wakes me every morning with kisses and actually hugs she lays her head on my neck , I don't really think getting a male or female has anything to do with which one is the best , because I also have a male Yorkie who acts the same way ! I think it's all in how much love and attention they get that's just my opinion ❤❤❤
I have a female Yorkie Gizzy (the love of my life) And she has always followed me everywhere I go. She also does the very same thing when I try to take pictures or videos of her 🐾💕🐾💕
Love the Video, so cute! We have Boy Yorkie, he is so special to us. He is very smart, never messes in the house. Loves to go to the park and watches the squirrels go up and down the trees. Sometimes chases them.
Hi Megan, love your videos. I have a male Yorkie named Kobe who turns 1 this month. We are so excited to share the holidays w/ him. He loves to cuddle & follow me around the house.
I now have my second male yorkie, and he is 9 months old. He is the most loving dog I have ever had and also follows me everywhere. I had wanted a female this time so I could dress her up but my wonderful breeder didn’t have any. It was possibly going to be a year before one was available, because she had a long waiting list for girls. She told me in her experience, that the boys were more loving than the girls. Love my boy!❤️
It sounds so much like my experience with Teddy. I also wanted a girl so that I could dress her up and things like that, but Teddy really wound up being my dog of a lifetime. Of course I love all of my babies so much. But sometimes there’s just that one special dog of your life, and Teddy was definitely that for me.
Hi Megan,I have a male Yorkie he is the sweetest little guy he is my second Yorkie my first Little Man passed away 5 years ago he was 17 years old and such a kind gentle little boy now I own a 5 year old Yorkie and he is also a male and he has a feisty personality she's beautiful thank you for your channel very insightful I enjoy it
Thank you so much for stopping by to share your story:). It sounds like you must have taken excellent and loving care of your first yorkie to have him live for 17 years. You are amazing:)❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had a male yorkie , I adopted from somebody . At first when I adopted him he wanted to be under me all the time . Once he got used to the house , other dogs and people he just went around and would do his own thing .
I am biased toward male dogs, regardless of the breed. I have always found females to be moody and independent as you said. My boys are always by my side and are fiercely loyal. To be fair though, our female Golden Retriever was very attached to my Dad. I don’t know if that is normal for females to be more attached to men, but it has been my experience. Thanks for this video.
@@MeganGraham I have a four year old female LOVE her so much she is soooo loyal and follows me every ware and hates when I leave the house. I agree females love men. I raised her though and probably thinks I.M her daddy. Her name is Roxy and she is my little girl. The are just like children but better ::)))
Good video. Love, love, love your furbabies. As far as I know you are correct that both male and female Yorkers have similar characteristics. They want to be under your feet or on your lap at all times. Wonderful companions.❤
We rescued a male Yorkie that lived till about 16. We've recently lost a large cross Yorkie which we got with his litter mate 8 years ago. We have just got a tiny male Yorkie at 12 weeks nearly 14 weeks now. Just playing referee between the boys at the moment and potty training is going very well once we got rid of all the puppy training pads. Your dogs are all amazing. I live in Yorkshire England we had to have Yorkshire Terriers.
This was actually very helpfu, thank you so much!l! My story is just like yours! I wanted a girl and the last pup of the litter was a boy. Once we bonded I absolutely fell in LOVE with him. Sadly, we lost Turkleton last December and my heart was shattered. I thought I would never be able to love another dog again but I think many people feel that way after pet loss. Just by chance I reached out to the breeder of our Turky and they had a female available. What are the odds that they would have a litter?? They had one little girl available and we're going to meet her tomorrow(she's still only 6 weeks) so we won't bring her home yet. 🥰 I've been so nervous because I wasn't sure if I was ready but I'm starting to get excited. My little guy was also my little shadow so I find it interesting that you say females seem to be a bit more independent. It will be interesting to see what her personality will be like! We do want to get a playmate after this one is trained and I still have a strong desire to have another male. I hope this one will also have a quirky and silly personality like our little Turky did! ♥
@@evagardner6013 It turned out that the people who left a deposit on one girl backed out backed and 2 female became available so we ended up with TWO! 😄 They are so crazy and silly! We named them Stella and Hazelnut...they're about to turn 10 months old!
I have a male teacup pure breed yorkie!!! He's my first dog and I preferred a male since I was concerned about the female temperament and menstrual cycles. I'm very pleased with my choice! He's definitely my shadow similar to your experience and since he's so little, he likes to jump all over me when I'm seated or laying down. He likes to sit right on my clavicle bone LOL. He is litter box trained and is dressed to the nines daily so I don't miss out on that as well! ~Inspirations & Blessings ~ Nat
Hi Megan, I lost my 8yr old yorkie Pippin about 6 weeks ago to a sudden illness. We spent thousands trying to save him. The loss is so deep more than anything in my life or my husband & kids. ( and I am no spring chicken, lol). My family &I have the privilege & honor of getting his 1/2 brother and last of the bloodline 2 weeks ago. We have named him Finnegan. Finn for short. The hole is our hearts from Pippin in massive but the alternative of never having him is unfathomable. He really changed all of us. Finn coming to us is just amazing. We feel already so in love with him. I wanted to ask you. With Pippin I had never gotten him fixed and we had a tough time with him marking. He was always so tiny I was scared of the operation/anesthesia. Did you ever get any of your males fixed and did that make a difference with the marking ? My vet seems to think it does and wants to fix Finn.
Teddy was fixed, and it really helped with his marking. I am not allowed to fix Alfie because I co-own him with the breeder and it makes it really hard. I would definitely fix him if I could
@@kjsteven6926 U do & sometimes they will still mark one of my boys was neutered at 8 mth but he will still mark his territory. Not a fan of the belly bands he isn’t either LOL I think when U do take them off. They will just go mark again. Tried most of the stop marking products. Nope. 🤷🏼♀️
Your babies are so adorable! I initially wanted a female but we have a male yorkie, which I adore... he was supposed to be my dog but he has bonded with my husband. He loves us both but if my husband is home, he is his whole world! We are thinking about getting another yorkie, but female this time. I wanted a female initially, but the breeder we bought from only had males. I would never trade our lil guy now but I think he would love to have a friend and hopefully we can find a female.
They sound so wonderful and that is such a cute story. I’m so glad that you guys are so bonded with him, and I hope that at some point you are able to find a sweet female to be his little friend. That sounds so cute. They are the best dogs.
Great informative vlog! I love your vlogs! When I was looking for my yorkie, I didn’t care which gender we got. I ended up seeing her picture and I fell in love. She was only 2lbs at the time and I found out she was born with a hernia, but that didn’t stop me from a 4hr drive to pick her up. Now she’s almost 6months old and she weighs a little over 4lbs. My Poppy is the sweetest! She’s supposed to be spayed by the end of this month and as they spay her they’ll fix her hernia. Quick question in your opinion what’s a good age to spay a female yorkie?? My Poppy will be a little pass 6 months when she gets spayed. Do u think that’s to young?
We have only had one yorkie, a male named Loki, and he is exactly as you described your male in regards to the marking and attachment. Our current challenge is taking loki out every couple hours to prevent marking in the house. Loki wants to be within eye shot of either myself or my wife non stop. We love our puppy and can't wait to get a second.
I have a little boy. I am a petsitter and am learning to be a dog trainer. He is a rough and tumble boy! He thinks nothing could hurt him. LOL I have to keep him from jumping off the bed, which is a too high. He doesn't like going down the stairs. He LOVES going through agility equipment! There is some at the dog park, the seesaw, bridge, hoops, tunnels, he has a blast!
They're lovely Yorkies ..! We have a male Yorkie. He is a very patient boy but a little stubborn dog sometimes. Yet, he is a very sweet little guy. We're blessed to have him as family companion.
I just got a male yorkie for my birthday in May and he is absolutely the sweetest. He is 5 months old and weighs 5 pounds. He is SO in love with me. He loves my husband BUT he is stuck to me like glue and I love it so much. He is a little grimlim sometimes but were working on those moments and hes doing a lot better. I'm in love with him! We named him Magum ❤
I had a male Yorkie named teddy, he wasn’t just the best dog I’ve ever had, he was my best friend and will he until the day I die, I swear to god he spoke English, he was so sassy, had opinions on everything. Rest In Peace teddy bear.
I am so blessed to have two Yorkies (biro yorkie and a blueberry tweed yorkie ) girl and boy both adopted by me .. they are a blessing .. and they both follow around although the boy tends to follow me more and certainly more cuddlyx
All three of mine are very loving and they do follow me and they’re very protective. They are very loving and playful always at your side. I got three males and they’re like that.
Btw- I had a male who lived to be 19! I just recently had to put him down due to suffering from renal failure 😞. He was the best dog I ever had. Never barked, unless I asked him a question lol. But toward the end he got to where he was peeing everywhere in the house which that’s when I found out about the disease he developed. I am looking forward to purchasing a female then another male ☺️ I’m very excited!
I have my 6months old female yorkie, in her bed next to me right now.She is cuddly as well as fiesty! We love her so much for her sweet nature!❤ We also have 2 other dogs. One is a mixed breed and the other is a Presa canario. I personally prefer female dogs because they don't feel the need to mark their territory, while they are very protective and gentle with our children.
I think the boys are the most affectionate for sure:). Alfie does treat me like I am his girlfriend. Yo are so right:) ❤️❤️❤️

Totally agree!
My sister's female follows her all over
My girl follows me everywhere
Male Yorkies fall in love with you
I have a tiny teacup male yorkie (Gimli) who is turning 13 years old this year! I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He absolutely LOVES to snuggle and also follows me around the house everywhere. He’s so smart and funny- but he’s also very quiet. He’s the best boy and love him to absolute pieces.
He sounds wonderful!
That’s so crazy I just got a male teacup and he’s 12 weeks and is the exact same way !
Ok

But what about the marking issue? Toilet training?
@@hanaroseofficial They learn fast and like I said, the male one at least was all about the rules. He would come to me and whine anytime any other dog broke a rule. The females somehow were able to teach the rules to other dogs. They would train friends' dogs that I watched.
I love male yorkies :)
My girl is definitely all you described lol
Your description of your females made me laugh! I only have a male he’s 13 now and has been glued to me since I first got him
My little Yorkie, Bear, is a little boy. He's 6 months old now and he is literally my little shadow and cuddle bug.
I love his name:). Teddy's full name was Teddy Bear Graham:)
OMG! My little boy Yorkie is named Bear too!

Wow! This is an awesome story:)
@@MeganGraham thank you! :3
Best wishes.
best therapy is right!
Yes @ 8 weeks my current female was already trained on pee pads by the breeder. She's quite intelligent in ways
I had both and I found that female tend to be calmer and more relaxed, my male just wants to play and enjoy himself. My new male pup is also very similar to my previous male dog, fitting since I named him the same name with a JR. at the end of the name.
❤️❤️❤️
I had 3 male Yorkies and they were extremely close to me. I also had a male Maltese that was so sweet. They were all very attached to me and always by my side no matter where I went. Yorkies are my all time favorite breed but IF I ever get another Yorkie, I would get a female because I believe they are easier to train. Nice video.
I think you just may be right ❤️❤️
I have had boys and girls and I do think there is a difference.
All so true!
hey Alison, I have a baby boy. I think a trainer may can help with the barking issue. I feel like it’s so easy to spoil them since they are just so cute. I recently find a trainer come to my place and I do see progress. Hope my experience can help you
My boy Griffin only resource guards his food around our cats.
@@yamaha94O feed your dog and cat in different rooms so he can feel secure.
I have a female yorkie but she also has carina terrier in her and boy she is so the boss of the house and she does cuddle but she also does her own thing and doesn't follow me or mom around like we thought she would but we love her so much

I love my baby girl. Very independent, and won’t let me hold her at home. She’s the smartest little girl, and so loving. She’s not really a lap dog, but insists on sleeping between my legs. Never in a million years thought I’d have a Yorkie, but she stole my heart ♥️
That is so sweet! They are little cuddlers.

That is so funny, our Yorkshire terrier’s also love to wake us up in the morning as well. Lola wakes us up by licking our hands until we pet her.
In the past I have had a boy and a girl Yorkie. Now I have a second boy and a girl Yorkie. I totally agree with what you said. I will say the girls in my experience are easier to potty pad train. Enjoyed your video.
I agree with you. I have had a much easier time potty training my female yorkies than my male yorkies as well. Thank you for your kind words!

I have a male Yorkie and he is everything I’ve ever wanted in a dog. Although, I must say he can be a bit stubborn when called “to come”. He comes but at his time, but we are working on that.
Yes, I have noticed that my little man will do some things when he's good and ready or when I reach for my treat pocket. I might have spoiled him...
Sounds so much like a yorkie! So smart, but they also don't listen when they don't want to!

My Yorkie Milo is a yapper and doesn’t listen either when outside. He has his days where he is off the wall and when he is calm.

I plan on fixing that.

That is so funny, she sound so cute.

They all so like such sweeties!
I've had Yorkie mixes and found the same things to be true as you did but my males were more slap happy and smiley and females more sensitive or as you said moody.
Very true, I actually think it is true of most dogs.
They both sound like a dream! The males are just like velcro ❤️❤️. Thank you so much for your kind words:)
Will be getting a female yorkie soon 💕 thank you for sharing your experience & input.
So exciting! Lmk how it goes:)
My baby Pablo is absolutely in love and so am I. He'll be 4 this year. Tiny fella with the heart of a 🦁.❤
I love that! They really can have the heart of a iion.
I have 5 female Yorkies. Also I think that is very individual as to which Yorkies stay by your side or at your feet. Two of my girls follow me everywhere but all of them follow me almost all of the time.
Yes, it is very individual for sure. ❤️
Clothes are more available for females, and also, you can give a female a belly rub without it getting, , . . .awkward!😆🤭
Thank you for your rescue efforts! You are amazing:)❤️❤️❤️
I have a four year old male Yorkie that I adopted seven months ago. Love love love him.
He sounds wonderful!
I have a male Yorkie and he loves to sleep on my husband's shoulder, and is very affectionate. He also has long hair with a top knot. It's cold today so he has on his sweater.
That is such a cute picture to imagine. He sounds so sweet!
I'm sure you are right:)
I have a female Yorkie Gizzy (the love of my life) And she has always followed me everywhere I go. She also does the very same thing when I try to take pictures or videos of her 🐾💕🐾💕
They don’t like it!
Love the Video, so cute! We have Boy Yorkie, he is so special to us. He is very smart, never messes in the house. Loves to go to the park and watches the squirrels go up and down the trees. Sometimes chases them.
So cute! They love to chase squirrels!
I have always had male yorkies. In February we are getting our first female. We are super excited about it.
So exciting!
Hi Megan, love your videos. I have a male Yorkie named Kobe who turns 1 this month. We are so excited to share the holidays w/ him. He loves to cuddle & follow me around the house.
Hi there:). I love so much that you are looking forward to celebrating the holidays together. That sounds like so much fun. Does he have a stocking?
I have a male yorkie, Otto. We absolutely love him and thinking of getting a brother or maybe a son of him in the future 😊
That is lovely:)
So sweet
I have a male Parti Yorkie and he is so amazing. He is a great companion.
They are so cute!
My female dogs love all men so much. If a man comes over to the house, I am chopped liver, and the girls pay zero attention to me.
Thank you:). I love them so much too. I never get tired of their cute little faces
My family had a female yorkie. I loved her so much she was my little sister. I would love another female yorkie. 😀
That is so sweet:)
You sound busy!:)
CUTE yorkies 🐶🐶🐶 very adorable, loved the video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yoshi, the little yorkie, woof woof 🐶🐶🐶
Thank you so much!
How’s your puppy?
That is wonderful. Both are great!
He sounds like a dream:) ❤️❤️❤️
Wait how old and how did u teach him to be litter trained I’m scared to get one he will pee everywhere
I would definitely fix him if I could
I've only had the male Yorkie is my whole life and I love them so much they were such good dog
❤️
Love your channel!! Did you get your male dogs neutered? And if so, do they still mark afterwards?
I usually do, but I own Alfie with a show breeder so I can not. Teddy still marked after he was neutered.
I think you have to neuter at a young age to avoid the marking stage. Once they Start, it can be a habit. Especially with little doggos
If you trust your vet, I would go by the advice that your vet gives you.
You guys sound like great owners!
They are such fun and spirited little creatures for sure!
They're lovely Yorkies ..! We have a male Yorkie. He is a very patient boy but a little stubborn dog sometimes. Yet, he is a very sweet little guy. We're blessed to have him as family companion.
Thank you so much! I love these little puppy so much. They are very stubborn, but also very sweet :-)
I have a male yorkie named Mikey who is 12 weeks today, I love him to pieces.
He sounds like such a cutie! 💕💕💕
I’m so glad that you are so in love with him. And it’s so nice that you are researching so that you can take the best care of him. I love that!
I have one of each. Love both equally.
Same
I had a male Yorkie named teddy, he wasn’t just the best dog I’ve ever had, he was my best friend and will he until the day I die, I swear to god he spoke English, he was so sassy, had opinions on everything. Rest In Peace teddy bear.
I am so sorry for you loss:(
Sounds like my late Pom boy.
❤️❤️
I am so blessed to have two Yorkies (biro yorkie and a blueberry tweed yorkie ) girl and boy both adopted by me .. they are a blessing .. and they both follow around although the boy tends to follow me more and certainly more cuddlyx
❤️❤️
All three of mine are very loving and they do follow me and they’re very protective. They are very loving and playful always at your side. I got three males and they’re like that.
They sound so sweet!
I am so sorry for your loss. 19 is an amazing age to reach. You must have been a great owner❤️❤️
So sweet
I love either. I call my little girl. My Velcro puppy. She is 15.
She sounds like such a sweetie:)
