Do you guys know... BB was just a syndrome when i was in a middle school (I'm Korean, and now I'm drunken so sorry for my poor English) Back then, Every korean knew big bang's songs, especially Lie, last farewell, haruharu, heartbreaker(GD's solo song), no matter what their ages are!!! Lie and haruharu was reeeeeaalllllyyyy a mega hit song that everybody knows in Korea.(although my fav song is 'fool') If they wear a specific shoes, the shose became "shoes of that year" and If GD change his hair style, it became "hairstyle of that year" which all the korean guys follow😂 Furthermore, In 2008, if you aren't interested in Bigbang, there was almost nothing to say, and no one to talk with, at least in middle/high school, seriously!! What All the teenage girls talk about was just bigbang and TVXQ. If you just walk through the street, 2~3 of 10 was talking about BB 😂😂 It was a golden era of Big bang, and also K-pop in korea.
In that era, youtube wasn't main mass media of korea, so maybe views are not that much.... 🤔
Anyway, it is really surprising that their song 'bang*3' or 'fantastic baby' which are released 7yrs after they put definite point through 'lies' and 'haru haru' still re-hit to this extent.
Normally in Korea, If a K-idol becomes general trend(?) and makes big fandom, they reach the peak then shrink for the next trend group. However BB didn't lose their power and continue that in another way, 'by getting mass appeal'. so most koreans give them credit for being nation's group and respect them.
And I'm 24 now.... wtf Time flies!!!!

i m a korean and in my late 30's. Everyone and their grandchildren know big bang is the all time No 1 in kpop. What i mean by that is there are always newer younger and trendier groups every year. But how long does it take for them to step down from throne? Always in 5 years. All the hot bands including my favorite Seotaiji boys in 90s started going downhill in 5 years and now we have big bang who after 12 years and going 13 years in a month still rules Kpop. They have been constantly brought up in comparison with new hottest group of the moment and we all know why. Because they are that relevant and people think discussion on the hottest groups should never forget to mention them. Sometimes it looks very tiring for them to be that group.

I read your story, and thank you for sharing. I'm a Filipino and 26. I just liked KPop just few months ago, I liked other younger groups at first but then I came to BigBang, watched their MVs and live performances and I was not able to move on until now. I'm totally into them. Like I've never watched any group performed like them or even reach half the hype they bring to the audience. I'm just sad that they have to go to military so soon, and I am full of regrets now, he was in my country just last year and I dont really know that time. So i didnt watch his concert. I will wait for him/them, definitely. I will go to Korea this year so sad. I'm planning to go to his store to buy some item, and to YG store too. Hope I can buy albums and Made Jacket. 😁
