I was thinking the same thing. Her speech sounds slurred for some reason.
Some anxiety medications can have the same slurred speech affects as alcohol. I hope she's remaining sober 😔 😕 🙏 ❤

People were not made to be famous, it's not normal. Fame is fleeting just like looks .. it's very temporary.
It looks like her lips and mouth are overworked cosmetically. She doesn't sound like this in her book.
I really enjoy Tamron Hall’s show. She has such a genuine layer of care towards her guests and is such a great interviewer/host always. A very bright & thoughtful woman in media. Glad she has a show.

@Jessica Leigh That's what I was thinking, she's on multiple medications to help treat her conditions.
I don't think she has had a few drinks...From experience, the speech impediment (the slur) becomes permanent after so many years of the addiction. It is enhanced when put on medication for other health issues/mental disorders. Your mouth, tongue, and vocal cords become used to the slur. The longer you slur the probability of it becoming permanent is high! I'm proud of her for getting help! Sobriety is a lifelong side job! I hope she continues to persevere!!
This was so brave and honest of her. She could just have kept quiet, enjoyed her family and her millions. She doesn't need to share her vulnerability and struggles in a book or an interview. May you continue to stay well and sober Jessica!
I'm currently Reading her book during this pandemic. I grew up appreciating her art as well as ashlees art especially since I am a 90s kid And her book is a wonderful amazing grace type of story🙏 keep blooming Jessica .Thanks for the interview Tamron!

I’ve always liked Jessica! She seems so genuine, sincere and good natured.
She sounds coherent enough to me. I think anything to do with her speech/the way she's speaking might be more related to the intense lip filler? Hadn't seen her for years and I'm super surprised by what she's done to her face. A definite change.

Everyone commenting about how she talks, be kind. Probably took a benzo (prescribed), right before the interview for anxiety. They did that to me also. I thought this was a great interview. Jessica was very open and honest.

Jessica was always beautiful ❤️❤️, sexual abuse takes you many places that are very dangerous to your health. I was abused at 9 years old by a family member and neighbor. I was very much terrible to myself and others.It took losing my mother in 1986 to love and honor her for all she had done for me .

I think Jessica is a beautiful person. I am praying for her. Relapses happen, sobriety is not easy, and those who are judgmental should trade their negative comments for gratitude that they do not deal with addiction to drugs or alcohol. Substances are not Jessica’s problem. They aren’t anyone’s problem. They are a solution that addicts use to their detriment. Trauma leads to pain leads to unhealthy coping mechanisms. The easiest way to deal with pain is to numb it and forget it is there for a little while. Unfortunately over time an addicts brain gets rewired and it becomes harder and harder to stop, until its nearly impossible. Every person who finds the absolute sheer grit to overcome their addiction deserves to be celebrated, and I hope to celebrate Jessica when she finds her way again.
Tamron such a great talk show host. She has nice quality of voice too. Hope and believe best for Jessica. She deserves a good life like everyone does.
Poor Tamron, she looking like uh oh someone didn't do their homework and I didn't want to do this to Jessica. I admire Jessica for being open with her journey but she is still obviously struggling with her sobriety.

@Billie- Jean Duncan Pretty sure the speech is due to the lip injections and face filler. I don’t think she’s tipsy.
To me she appears to be on strong psych meds. Antipsychotics can cause speech problems and slurring.
Yeah I think she’s on Xanax. Sometimes doctors prescribe Xanax to recovering alcoholics to get them off alcohol because it mimics the same feeling. I bet that’s what has happened to Jessica, and now she’s addicted to Xanax, but she still can say she’s sober from alcohol. Yikes

Her team shouldn't have booked this interview until she was recovered unless this is permanently now her way of talking. Her speech is delayed just slower.
I suppose her slurring could be caused from way too many lip injections. I hope she’s actually sober....she seems like a really sweet thoughtful person.

Yes Elle thank you for saying that. She was clearly not sober and for those people saying it was probably a prescribed Valium or some type of benzo, when you are serious about your sobriety you don’t even like to take an aspirin. I should know. I pray she is ok and I’m wrong.

It is not about resources. There's a rehab center on every other block these days. If it were that easy everyone would win this battle. The richest of them have lost these battles. I think we should be a bit more compassionate and not be in such a rush to "hold someone accountable." You are a stranger to her. She does not need to be accountable because you say so.

When things are missing in your life , you dive into certain habits and roads. Whether it's drinking drugs , some form of escape. Physical pain leads to overeating etc....
She's been through a lot. Divorced then learning her dad was gay. That's a lot. She was young.

Everyone thinks she’s on something in this interview, I don’t think so. I believe she had some lip injections and that is what made her talk funny. She’s fine and has come far in her life.

I happened to like Jessica Simpson. My concern here, and in many of her most recent interviews is her slow yielded; almost slurred speech.

@@kylina3432 everyone can benefit from a little Botox. As you get older you need to be careful with placement to not look frozen or stretched. Jessica is filled to gills with filler, the Botox is not at fault for her look.

@@shanestory8 Yes, there are many shy entertainers. Even going back to the golden ages of Hollywood. If you do research on the ones that have had the most trouble, you find they were shy, introverted, or nervous types.

Wow, folks. I wouldn't "pity" Jessica too much. Don't know her personally, as I'm sure none of you do either. One thing is certain: Despite all the blatant judgement and back-handed compliments she's endured over the years (and in many of these comments), she's still at the top of her game. Glad to see her successful. Her book is a good read.

For those talking about her speech, her book’s audiobook shows this is the way she talks now. I think the alcohol abuse has caused her to slow down cognitively unfortunately. 😔

A lip flip will I got a little one done and there's some words I can't say correctly anymore. But hers is pretty bad I think they just did to much.
